Ive had mine for 12 months now, would like to get the blue one also. It wears incredibly well and looks as good as the first day, seems to be immune to damage and the brushed sides to the case are an improvement over the slab sides of the original. Unfortunately they no longer do the riveted bracelet after too many negative comments re adjustment, but is definately the one to look out for as it compliments the watch and is actually better than the Tudor bracelet for comfort

From what I've seen/read it would seem San Martin do make good watches. Seems a great option if you are looking for homage watches. Not sure I'd personally ever buy a SM but definitely seems to be a brand that churns out pretty good watches. Thanks for the review 👍

Love mine , ordered it on the day of release back in Feb '21 . It's slightly different as the one you have has the '200m' in red where as mine is in gold and again your one has a better finished clasp , my biggest issue was the bracelet is/was a pain in the a** to size , actually had to take it to the jewellers to do it for me ☺ I don't really keep track of movement accuracy on my watches anymore as don't wear for more than a day or so , but I feel the PT5000 has definitely been getting slower and slower over the year and half that I've had it

2824 do slow slightly over the first 2 years, PT5000 is a superb movement and considering ypu dont wear it for more than 24 hours , commenting on accuracy is a rather futile effort.

Great review! I’ve had a custom build of this model for some time now, the PT5000 runs fine, and I fall in❤️ with the design each time I wear this. Custom NTH gilt arriving later this year, to complement this SM.

Thanks for Sharing........ I have purchased several Bligers with Custom Logo Dials (Submariner & Yacht Master Homage) with PT5000 and ST2130 in them and been happy with them for under $150. What is nice, I can choose the dial (put a logo and wording on it), the hands, the bezel and the movement. I can not say that the "Finishing" is as nice as San Martin because I have nothing to compare them to. I think that the Finishing is very good on the ones have purchased. Where they would fall short is the "Lume" (I do not know if the SM is using a C3 or better on their watches but it looks like it) and water resistance. I believe that the B watches are designed to go to 100m, but they are not tested, nor are they warrantied, or listed for that. I have taken them in the pool and "Light Snorkeling" (about 20ft) with no issues. I consider them very nice. I do not know if spending twice the amount is going to "Justify Nicer Finishing, Lume and Water Resistance".......This BB58 Homage is very nice. I have been thinking about getting one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Many seem to consider Pagani the leader at the $100-150 price point and I can certainly attest that the in-hand feel of the fit & finishing of San Martin is superior, no question. This includes the machining & solidity of the clasp, the tolerances on the bracelet screws, and of course that excellent bezel mechanism. These alone are more than enough to justify the price difference IMO.

Very similar to the Gilt version of the NTH Barracuda which has a highbeat Miyota 9xxx movement and is only 11.5mm thin including its double domed sapphire with AR and fully lumed bezel and crown.

Yeah this is pretty good. Realistically it’s very difficult to achieve less than about 10mm with a third party movement. And if you need to make it dive capable, that adds a bit more.

@@PerthWAtch That is fair, I was just hoping that with some of the movements like the Miyota 9039 being more accessible, even microbrands would look to trim the dimensions even if that would mean pushing the dial a little higher in the case like Tudor did with its recent GMT release. It feels like we are on that inflection point where a brand could really stand out if their own designs could hit that goldilocks proportions. I think 10 would be a bit unrealistic to ask for but 11.5? 11.7? That seems to be possible and would make such a watch stand out if executed well and shown.

I think 11.5mm is possible for a dive construction watch if company can indeed get their hands on Miyota 9039 to put into their product... I don't believe I've ever reviewed a watch with that movement thought. Will see what the future brings in!

The SN004 version is 46 lug to lug but it's 13.3 thick. Which one do you think has a better fit to your wrist? I ask because I have the exact same wrist size. Cheers.

As a rule thinner is generally better… the lug to lug here is not overly large.

Yup! it is "incredible San Martin". The best quality & valued "China brand". I have bought few watches from them in the past and I was quite surprised of their great customer service & the quality of watches they offer. As for straight out of China brand, yes, it is the best one out there. Seagull is as good or better than San Martin, but Seagull isn't a micro brand and their watch history goes back 47 years, so definitely I can not include Seagull in this case. As for the quality, I have no issues. But as for the few improvements they might need to make, such as back case design, maybe diver's extension and so forth, you are absolutely right. It could be better and I think that it should be better and it should not cost them much to make those changes. Again, thanks for the review and have a wonderful day, Ivan.

I do wish they did something with that boring Rolex case back... that's the most ridiculous bit IMO. I thought Seagull is older than 47 years?

If you want a no date diver on a budget it a reasonable choice. A very convincing "homage", if I was spending that much I would pay the extra and get the SW200, I have no experience of the pt5000 yet. A solution to the "ghost date" would be to put a date at 6, less of a homage but a more useful watch. A problem with being a homage is that the riveted bracelet doesn't look good on the Tudor so San Martin is stuck with it. I think the sterile back is fine.

Yep, putting a date in would be one alternative. A better alternative is to use a no-date movement. The rivet bracelet looks fantastic and is one of the things that people love. I think the sterile back is a sorely wasted opportunity to differentiate in a good way.

Hey great video. I've been wanting to order one of these for ages but I hated the mix up of logos they had. To be specific the giant S they're had on the crown. You have got a good one there the riveted bracelet and the San Martin logo crown. I want to order one through your links but there's no guarantee il get the riveted bracelet is there?

@@PerthWAtchmale end links are one of the greatest feature of the oyster case and bracelet. the relation between the end link, the second link and the rest of the bracelet makes a beautiful flow would you imagine an op,a 40mm sub,a San Martin sn017, 019 with female end links ?but you probably never noticed that. i find those SM end links not sexy at all. this 'floating mid link 'makes a nasty angle when on the wrist. at least do the female end links properly like pagani with the bb36 homage . reviewers and viewers kept winging, mowning, complaining about 'protruding end links' , ' effectiv lug to lug ' .mostly have chicken wrist like you and want to wear 40mm dive watches. I reassure you a 40mm diver wears so much better on a big wrist ( 19.5 and bigger) than on my 18.5cm so yes it must look even worse on your 17cm wrist. 😆 . you have your answer now. I will buy this watch without the applied hex logo and I will try to find male end links or the bracelet of the v1. I follow you since a very long time, and would not think you would comment this way. taste is like class: you can't buy it. for who that did not read your comment these are your words: 'Male end links are inferior and less desirable '

Its a very very pretty watch. But. This is around USD600, for a watch that comes with no warranty, no spare parts (at least for anything except for the movement), not much resell value, from a factory noone knows anything about (could be run on child labour for all we know), with QC that either does or does not exist. If this watch breaks in 6 months time, it could be because its a non-lubricated movement, or assembled by someone who is not qualified, and you will be standing there with no support. IMHO, I am ok to buy a watch from Ali for 80-90 bucks max, and not beacuse I am stingy, but because if it breaks after a year or two, I will not be angry about it.

Just going by what I see (and what others also see it would seem): it’s USD300 on AliExpress right now. I can’t account for every other website and store you choose to look up. As for whether you can find stores, why do you believe that it is impossible to have good customer service without bricks and mortar stores? @Rolex drone: Really not sure why you bring up the postal losses - how is that relevant?
