Ngl Snug seemed like a neat character but I can understand why they didn't bring him in, the movie's pretty heavy enough as is.

It was actually due to time constraints, although I do think the character death was unnecessary, especially since he can be written it so easily and the only point of his character is to die.

I’m surprised they didn’t consider bringing him back in the sequel. Especially considering how Helen doesn’t bring up the fact that she destroyed his jet by accident.

I think because they didn't want to write him I just to kill him. And they'd have to build him up first so the audience felt it when he died

Damn, the original is pretty dark considering she had to choose to save her children and forfeit snug's life. The movie version has a better emotional impact, though.

Both are pretty dark seeming as Bob was driven to attempt to commit murder in a Pixar film when he lunges at Syndrome

The original Snug version would certainly have raised the emotional stakes, Helen loses an old friend because of her calling in a favor and being forced to make a call on who to save, Violet failing to utilize her powers correctly leads to his preventable death, and when they finally confronted Syndrome, that loss would have been there. Having said that, I like the end version, as it allows Helen to showcase some non-super powers that many people might have overlooked as important to a superhero. She's competent and experienced, that radio jargon she's rattling off as she maneuvers the plane, while simultaneously exuding maternal instincts toward her children. Just beautifully done.

The part at 2:09 always seemed odd to me, as to why in the final scene she looked down like she was looking for someone. Now it makes sense!

In the final version if you look closely they kept the shot to show off an Electrical S on the cockpit of the plane for Syndrome

People are over looking the much darker aspect of this deleted scene. The reason Snug dies is because Violet fails to create a forcefield. Imagine the trauma a kid would get from realizing that someone died because they couldn't handle the stress of the situation to do what needed to be done. That's something many Thrillers and Horror stories would avoid just because of how traumatizing it would be for anyone to see something that dark happen on screen. That scene would've absolutely triggered some past trauma in people watching it. That scene is akin to something that gives soldiers PTSD in real life.

Actually, I saw this deleted scene when I was a kid. I thought it was sad, but I didn't get SOOO emotional until watching these two scenes together. I believe that it's because the deleted scene didn't have the music yet and the official scene does. I believe that music is very powerful, especially towards our emotions.

Yeah I'm glad they didn't include this scene... Losing another good guy so soon after learning the horrible things that Syndrome has done to the rest of the supers, people Helen and Bob knew personally, would have been even more traumatizing for a younger audience.

Helen's use of radio protocol while flying is exceptionally accurate for a movie. In the director's commentary Brad Bird tells that Holly Hunter insisted on learning the lingo and its meaning. The terminology used hints that Elastigirl has had military flight training. "VFR on top" means she is flying in the regime of Visual Flight Rules 'on top' of a cloud cover. She requests "vectors to the initial", directions how to get to the initial landing approach. "Angels 10" is her altitude call, ten thousand feet. This is a military term. Civilian flights use the term "flight level". "Track east" is her direction of travel. "Buddy spike(d)" is a U.S. military brevity code meaning "friendly anti-aircraft radar has locked on to me, (please don't shoot)". "Transmitting in the Blind Guard" is a call on the emergency frequency where two-way communication has not been established. "Abort" is also a military brevity code, a directive meaning "stop the action/mission/attack"

Has anyone seeing this delete scene of Snug death it reminds me the time where Riddler from the Batman telltale once said to Batman that he wants to know that a hero that save people can believe that he is but he wrong that it can give up an innocent live that Batman never meant that to happened not even to say his own there are comparison. All im saying that im glad the deleted scene didn't make it to the final cut Snug death would be dark and it will make Elastigirl feel guilty that she lost a friend.

In the original scenario, where snugg controls the plane and rushes from both sides of the rocket, they could have modified it, for example, for Elastica to shout at snugg to run to her and together with the children Elastica would save them, I mean the scene in the final version, how she ran away from piloting and grabbed the children, made a ball and saved them from the rockets. I meant how in the original Snugg is piloting the plane, so they could have modified it to obey Elastica and run away from piloting to her and she would save him. But I understand that it would be useless because he doesn't have superpowers and therefore he wouldn't be able to defend himself against the enemy if he didn't have a weapon or he could have superpowers too. Sorry to fantasize a bit. I was touched that he died in the original script.

I can think of a few reasons as to why the version with the snug didn't make it into the final film for one there would have been no point because he would have only been in the movie Just for this one scene and then they would have killed him off shortly after he was introduced and not to mention syndrome wasn't intending to kill a random guy and another thing and I think the most likely reason is that they probably cut this because they wanted to keep the PG rating

Nah. The finale is probably way better considering the intensity is felt more. Snug sounded like there wasn't too much real danger, and even then, because he died it would be darker than it already is.

At the end if the day had Violet nit been restricted from using her powers, and had been trained correctly how to prepare for attacks as seen on the video. The plane crash could've been avoided. The mom is totally responsible for this.

I don’t think you can really blame one person for that, and definitely not Helen. Syndrome, for sending the missiles? The politicians, for making superheroes illegal? The shady uses of superpowers that gave politicians a reasonable enough point to want them to be illegal? Bob, for accepting the offer and being enticed by secret hero work? There’s way too many points for you to blame Helen, at least, not entirely. She was just trying to protect her family and live a normal life. Not wanting her kids to use their powers and go unnoticed is part of that

@@brandonray4379 i disagree. Supers became illegal. if they were caught using it, it would cause harm not only to the family but also to her record. I think the mom is trying to raise her kids in a way that conforms with the norm of society, as any parent would. I get the feeling that supers would be outcasted in society. i think this is also why she was so withdrawn socially so people don't see who her parents are. (not sure if they already knew, I haven't seen them film in a while). I don't think parents first thought is to train kids to defend themselves but rather, eliminate the threat so the children aren't in danger. (this is kinda similar to mass shootings in schools, you wouldn't arm your kids with guns but instead, try to prevent danger from occurring). having power is a double edge sword no matter how you slice it, once she has power what's stopping her from using it to gain an advantage in society. imagine violet stealing state secrets with her invisibility and using her forcefield to defend herself against attack in the worst-case scenario. we have already gotten an example with Flash pulling pranks on the teacher in the middle of class. you can make the argument of morality all you want but at the end of the day, you have an ability that makes you better than everyone, who wouldn't use it to get an advantage short of hurting another person. got to remember these are still teenagers. who in their teenage years haven't done something stupid.

Fun Fact: There is a theory that Snug is Violet's biological father because of their matching facial features when put together side-by-side, also the theory implying that in 1948 where Helen may have cut off a private affair between her and Snug somewhere during her first year as Bob's wife because of Violet being 14.
