No one's yearning for indian classical/metal fusion. These goras are fishing for Indian likes (population game) to go viral asap and have a big following. All this, and they'll go behind our backs and say we shit on fields and are cave people. Fyi this mix is v basic and nothing close to what the Nandy sisters have done in the original.

Wow, Indian vocal ornamentation can be so beautiful. The sweetness of the harmony during the duet portions is incredibly beautiful. Great instrumental interpretation as always, Andre. Thank you!

Even though the notes they were saying "Sa re Ga ma pa dha ni" are the counterparts of Wester "Do re mi fa.." in Indian classical singing, you can sing those notes to sing songs or part of song without lyrics like they are doing here, these are called Taan, instead of using the specific note sound, one can also use just "Aa aa aa" sound like the opera singer, although unlike opera singing, the sound is only "AA aa aa" and not any other vowels. Those are called Aalaps. Traditional Indian music doesn't have concept of Harmonizing, neither in vocals, nor in instruments. Although, sometimes instruments and vocals do play different notes that ultimately harmonize together, but those are rare and Harmony in its truest sense don't exist. One of the unique property that Indian classical music has, which I think no other music has is its relation with time of the day or season.. so, you can call it a super genre of sort. Instead of just mood or brightness or pace, it's somehow linked to the time of the day...So, a day is traditionally divided in "Prahars", which is like 4 hours, so each "Raag" has one of its defnining parameter of which "Prahar" it belongs to, for example Bhairavi Raag is associated with "Bhor" or dawn. some Raags have association with natural event or season. So, Vasant Raag which means Spring is associated to that, or Meghmallar(Megh means Cloud) is associated to Rain. It's said that if a singer or musician has attained the highest level of connection to the universe, he or she can play the Raags irrespective of their timing or event, and the event or timing would follow instead. So, Tansen, one of the great singer in the Mughal Dynasty has a legend of bringing out rain just by singing the Meghmallar Raag. Now you know.

@@Amuzic thanks for the little lesson :) I was more so referring to how the timbres of their voices harmonize as opposed to actual interval harmonies. Also, since there are some microtonal differences even as they are trying to sing together -- they are a good pair in other words. If I'm not mistaken there is also harmonization using drone instruments and sympathetic strings like with sitar -- but again I guess that's more atmospheric as opposed to specific interval harmonies like in the west. Either way, beautiful music!!

Thanks that’s really interesting. I had noticed that the sisters were seeming to sing words to a part of the music that I believed to be an instrumental section, and now realise they were performing Taan. But how quickly and precisely they were singing. They are massively talented, and beautiful sounding voices too.

Thanks for the detailed insights....just a slight correction here with regard to nomenclature...singing out the notes "Sa Re Ga...etc" is called "Sargam", while using vowels "Aa, Ee, Oo...etc" to sing those notes is called "Taan". And "Aalaps" are usually the improvisational sargams / taans a musician may use to set the context or elaborate a Raag...
