It's likely they were trying to mimic what baretta did with the 93R and along the way they realized they might aswell just go full auto with it. automatic fire is good for room clearing. Seeing how history went though, we preferred to do room clearing with MP5's and now we prefer 556 rifles.

Only if you have a license. In Indonesia getting a license for a gun is already expensive, hard and lengthy enough of a process due to how strict it is. Then you have to fork up quite a pretty amount of money for keeping your license annually. This is why only the rich can have guns in the country.

There is a bit of difference though in how Indonesians would pronounce Serbu as a word of verb or as name. If it's the verb one'd say the "Ser" part as if one says "Sir" in English to address a man formally. If it's the name one would pronounce the part simply as "Ser" just like how it's spelled.

For what it's worth, the "Robocop pistol" was a Beretta Model 93R (select fire semi-auto or 3-round burst machine pistol in 9x19mm) with glue-on attachments to make it look more "futuristic".

A lot of the commenters seem to misunderstand the full auto problem. The reason full auto was never considered for this pistol is because the 5.56×21 cartridge is nothing lile 5.7x28 lile some people seem to think. As the ridiculous shape suggests, it contains roughly 35% of the charge inside a regular 5.56 NATO. The round recoils like a 10mm. There's no way a regular-sized Indonesian guy can handle full auto one-handed, and this was meant as a PDW issued for troops who don't carry regular rifles. Basically the PINDAD designers went nuts and ignored the TNI original requirements for the PDW they were supposed to develop. TNI was probably thinking of something like a Skorpion.

well, I read the docs for it. There are only certain jobs that can allow you to request a firearms license in Indonesia, like a lawyer, gov official (who works in offices) and big investment company leader, that's like only 4 and all I know is that there's like 7 or 9. Unless you are an "important" individual, and your job is good, you ain't getting them guns 💀. Sadly, if you do even get the license you are not gonna be able to have that weapon either, too big of a calibre, they only allow 22, 32, 25 and 12 ga, (maybe 410. Bore) but other than that... yeah... edit: idk why but they even allow doctors to request for a license, idk why cuh, I guess it's worth the shot to take IPA 💀
