@RaptorGoesRAWR

That was the thing; the Park was getting ready to close and the people who died were the last riders of the night. The prevailing theory is that the supposed arsonists expected that they themselves would be the last or some of the last people on the ride, and the fire spread faster than expected. A lot of the information and b-roll in this vid comes from the doco "Exposed: The Ghost Train Fire" which goes into a lot more detail about the witnesses, evidence, and police corruption. Most Aussies will take the involvement of the police and Saffron at face value knowing what we do about how intensely corrupt the Sydney police were during these decades. Heck, the Sydney cops pretty much ran the drug trade around here back then XD

Those small seemingly unimportant decisions that either save your life or get you killed always bother me. The kid sitting alone rather than in a pair up front like his friends and the mom who decided to get an ice cream instead of going on the ride. It makes you doubt even the smallest life choices sometimes if you think too long on it.

Happened to me while on a road trip. I was driving in the countryside and got stuck in a bad rain storm. Felt like a tornado how badly it was pouring down. I pulled over to wait the storm out because I couldn't see. When the storm ended I tried to leave and got stuck in the mud where I pulled over and I had to call for a tow truck. Tow truck pulled me free and I went on my way. But I didn't get very far. The bridge over a river I would have driven across had I not gotten stuck in the mud got wiped out by the flood water. It washed away the entire road and there was nothing there but about a 8ft drop into the muddy water.
@JeantheSecond
@JeantheSecond Жыл бұрын
@@MrWolfSnack That wasn’t fate. That was your good choice to stop because you couldn’t see. We should always stop and wait if we can’t see, but most of us (I’m guilty too) don’t. You made a life-saving choice. Those poor souls on the ride weren’t doing anything, to their knowledge, that was dangerous.
@NoReply28
@NoReply28 Жыл бұрын
@@JeantheSecond Nah, it was fate. (Assuming that the bridge only collapsed when he got there). Because he could've pulled over anywhere. If he pulled over where there wasn't dirt then he would've not been delayed and would've been on that bridge when it collapsed. And if he didn't pulled over, he would probably make it past the bridge before it collapsed. So him getting stuck and having to wait those extra few minutes or hours was not a choice and it saves his life.

I find it highly suspicious that within half a day after the fire happened the lead investigator quickly ordered the building to be demolished & it's ruins taken away. Why would u immediately demolish a building without courning the site off first for a thorough investigation??? Imo a police cover up was involved. I mean all these years later & those poor families of those innocent victims still haven't got the answers they so desperately need is absolutely shameful.
@RaptorGoesRAWR
@RaptorGoesRAWR Жыл бұрын
Oh, absolutely. It's not even debated, not even at the time, that the Sydney police were hellishly corrupt. Even back when it happened, it was the widely-accepted truth that one of Sydney's crime families had ordered it sanitized and the chief investigator made it happen.

I was 19 years old when the Ghost Train fire happened at Luna Park so I remember it very well. As a teenager growing up in Wollongong, south of Sydney I visited Luna Park many times and my favorite ride was the Ghost Train. I really can't remember how many times myself and my friends got in the carriages and scared ourselves silly only to line up to do it all again. The fire shocked me and my friends very much because it easily could have been us to die on that fateful night. Thanks so much for posting this reminder on the event and for showing how the whole thing was swept under the rug by corrupt police officers and others high up in NSW at the time. 🇦🇺😪🙏🕊

@@n3rdv10l3nc3 It was noted that people often used lighters to so they could see the way through the haunted house. With the kid you are talking about, there were witnesses who had seen the kid playing with the lighter and purposely try to light stuff on fire in the haunted house, and the kid had a troubled history. Nothing was ever officially proven, but the theory of the trouble kid starting the fire seems the most likely (this kid was not one of the teenagers who died in the fire.)

the ice cream lady is scarily similar to an smaller incident i had. i was at the amusment park "liseberg" in sweden, and me and my bud (we been around 10yo) wanted to go on this ride called "rainbow", a terrible explanation is that is is a giant couch that rotate 360 degrees in a giant arch. almost like the arm on a clock. but JUST before we went, we decided to buy icecream first, as we were buying the icecream, we watched something go wrong and the couch wasnt hotrizontal anymore so it didnt clear and slamed into the platform as it came swinging down sending a few people flying. no critical injuries but a few with broken bones. if not for the split ice cream pit-stop, we would 100% been on that ride at the moment of failure, seriously.. we didnt ride anything else that day... but ive been back and i have no fear anymore, but that day i was shook. One of the most eerie things is that the name, "Hell's Doorway" was a few words off from "Doorway To Hell", which is the name of an almost identical attraction in the same county as the Haunted Castle AND the name of my documentary made in 2003. I am doing a 20 year-on follow to Doorway To Hell. There are some many things that happened in both haunted attraction fires. The Haunted Castle fire killed 8 teenagers. Wow. Thanks for posting.

It's videos like this that make me rethink the notion of ever becoming a Firefighter. My weak endurance means I'd never be able to stand up in that field, so it's inconsequential at this point. But instances like this... I can't imagine how a firefighter would feel walking into that tunnel, finding that father and his kids' remains, and then having to go home to his own children and not be able to explain why he needs to hold them and cry for a bit.

I live on an island, at a seaside resort, down in south Jersey. Back in August 1964, we had a dark ride fire, very similar to this. It had electric cars guided by rails, just like these, here. It was called the 'Mars' ride, and made to look like, the planet, and it's inhabitants. A fire started, in the garbage cans area, right underneath the ride. 3 children (a brother and sister, and a cousin) died after their cart stopped, in the middle of the fire, after the attendant shut off the power.

Wow, this story sounds so much like the Beverly Hills Supper club fire. They blamed poor wiring but there too was many eyewitnesses to strange people doing out of place things and had been pressure to sell. It too was removed quickly instead of a long investigation of the building. I visited the site once. So eerie knowing so many died on those grounds abandoned for years.

Dude wtf. Just wtf. They should have been held criminally accountable on account of the removal of all evidence alone. Obviously they were trying to cover their asses. Due to this tampering the state should have simply assumed that the electrical systems were completely fucked and imprisoned at least the manager for life. Edit: Of course the same applies to the cops.

Speaking as an Australian, it's very widely accepted that it was done by Saffron's associates. If you look at the electrical box in photos of the ruins, you can see it's been left completely untouched by the fire and could not have been the source of it (as was very clearly claimed by the police). If anybody believes the fire wasn't deliberately caused and done by the criminal underworld, they're either in the pocket of the people that did it or just aren't from Australia.

it's worth mentioning how the granville tragedy was also treated under the nsw government - the coroner was pressured into siding with the railways (thankfully he did not) because if that particular service was in any way not good the important seat it served would retaliate through the ballot. it's a different event, but the fact that also had corruption involved in its investigation and happened only two years prior is worth noting, imo. the melbourne ghost train is still at their luna park and has remained pretty much the exact same since at least the 1950s, since my dad and I went on it in 2017 and he'd last been on it in the late fifties and he remarked on how little it had changed (of course, there were safety changes made, I defo remember there being fire alarms)

As soon as I heard Abe Saffron I knew who you were talking about, despite being an American. On an episode of Kitchen nightmares, there was a restauranteer/author by the name of Alan Saffron. He took his son's inheritance (from Abe's death) to start the restaurant. I'm not sure if it was brought up on that episode, or if it was some "where are they now" video where they mentioned Alan was the son of Abe.
