Luke Skywalker was my childhood hero. Looking back now, he was the first person to show me the power of redemption. Nothing could ever make me think less of him for that.

Luke never gave up on anyone. He held to the belief that no one is ever really gone (about the only thing that Luke said in Episode VIII that was true to the character), that no matter how dark the world was, there was always hope. Before Disney destroyed the character, Luke was one of the greatest heroes in fiction - powerful, flawed, loyal, humble, and hopeful, the opposite of what Rian Johnson gave us.

It would have set up a wonderful set of new Jedi stories that could grow in the future. Ruin Johnson would not even be able to begin to grasp the context of this video! According to him, Luke was in full character in TLJ. Yeah... right... Whatever we saw in TLJ was NOT a loving man! You hit the head on the nail with Luke's greatest power & ability was love itself. And you explained it all perfectly step by step. I just wanna add why this also makes so much sense from a mere story telling perspective, especially within fantasy, & why it is such a winning concept throughout time. Luke is far from the only protagonist who's greatest strength is love. We see the same or similar character traits & story in Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, even in the Illiad! We also find this in Star Trek & the MCU, even in some versions of Transformers & many others. Love is THE ultimate GOOD power! And all these great heroes & protagonists are messengers of why that is. Luke may just be the best example. Before Disney screwed him & us all over.

Only Revan rivals Luke as my favorite character in all of Star Wars, but I still think Luke is my favorite. I like Revan because of intellect (which we unfortunately don't get much of in KOTOR), his deeds, and his character as described by Darth Traya and in the Revan novel. But in the end, Luke fits exactly what I think a Jedi should be. I know George Lucas actually disagreed and didn't really like Mara Jade or that Luke got married. But George also thought Jar Jar Binks was a great idea. So some of his ideas are gold, and some are crap.

I think even Kreia might be proud of Luke, albeit resenting his sheer Force affiliation. But I think at the end of the day, she, Revan, and Meetra would approve of Luke. In a very roundabout way, he is their legacy as well.

@MotleyNerdАй бұрын
It's possible Lucas didn't agree with Luke getting married, but he never disliked Mara Jade. The video of him having a childish outburst because of the mention of her name was a skit and was never meant to be taken seriously. Plus, considering he would've had to personally sign off on Luke's marriage, it seems suspect that he supposedly didn't agree with him getting married. After all, if that were true, why would he approve it? Note that pretty much all of the quotes people use of him to speak against the EU were from _after_ the Disney purchase.

The same force technique that Luke died from in the Disney movie is an actual technique called force projection that he can perform and appear great distances from his body with full force powers. What's so crazy about this is that this technique can only be done by a few people because you have to become apart of the force or something like that. The problem is that you can become a part of the force permanently, but Luke can perform the technique flawlessly. 2 things that happened to Luke that made me say, "Oh my god, he's about to go off," is when Mara Jade was killed, and when His son Ben was captured by the Vong. He did not disappoint.

He realized very early that the Jedi were wrong about forming bonds and connections. He learned that by reading Reaven's work that's what separates Luke from every other Jedi! He was very adaptable to any and all evironments! His vast knowledge of the force and know when to weld it and when to show empathy and compassion! He proved to Yoda and Obi wan that forming bonds was not a direct path to the darkside but focused the Jedi and gave him or her a balanced grounding and something worth fighting for love! Everybody that trained under Grandmaster Luke Skywalker was more powerful in the force and not just combat with lightsabers!

I've already known most of this stuff because I've read, discussed and enjoyed these Legends books, comics, Novels and so on with a few friends. And we've always loved Luke. He is a real hero, a real man imo. His passion, love, endless hope, patience, peace and ultimate power " beyond powerful" as stated in NJO 😉 ( New Jedi Order) puts a smile on my face. Legends Lukes actions even admires my real live arcs, be like he is and you can enjoy live. This may sound crazy to some but be hopeful be patient have love for your partner, family and the people around you, have hope and you will enjoy life. Passion is the genesis of genius. I'm turning 23 next year in January, very soon hihi. Sometimes I don't feel that mature, feeling still like a teenager and don't let me starting by the 23 year old Luke in comparison, the RotJ Luke. Damn what a hero, what a mature badass guy with hope. The guy who saved Vader, the Galaxy and so on POWER. But luckily I think I have my life under control + future :). I loved every second of this video. It's good to see that some Star Wars KZbinrs like you fully understand Luke as a character, power house and as the ultimative Star Wars character, the MAN ( fan mode activated I should stop I know) Luke is the Goat. I love when Vader compliments Luke’s saber. I love that scene because it’s to me the turning point of Vader. So Luke says Padme’s last words “there’s still good in you/him” which Vader does know from the comic where Fett told him info on Luke is in the birth ward of Polis Massa, and he sees Padme’s death

I find it hilarious that the Jedi were their own worst enemy. they talk about how emotions are what lead to the dark side but if they had changed how they viewed their practices, they might have saved Anakin and beat Palpatine. this is proof that hubris can lead to a person's fall

That was about the real Luke. Not that bad joke Disney gave us.

Appreciate the in-depth analysis on Luke's character(his strongest power) but I'm halfway through the video and I'm fiending for some other power examples haha

This was the nicest middle finger to Disney version of Luke I’ve ever seen. Thank you.
