That is the difference in today's game. Back then you knew what you was getting. Bird the shooter. Shaq the big man. Magic the passer. MJ and Kobe the fade away. A I the little guy with handles. Kids could go play basketball and pretend to be those guys. Now the MVP is some guy I can't pronounce his name and don't even know what he is about. He is a big man who can't shoot. What kid can pretend to be him or even spell or say his name correctly? Curry is basically the only one kids can relate to so now everyone even the bigs play like him. With LeBron everyone loves if he is plays in your city but other than that he is looked at as villain because he cries so much and took the easy way out writing his own script making super teams and claiming to be better than MJ.

The problem with that is no big name stars want to go to Portland
@chandleryen73153 жыл бұрын
@@baller78239 I'm gonna rule out Kawhi and PG going to Portland, but I can see something like a sign and trade with Miami. A nice sized wing defender like Jimmy that doesn't have the pressure of being the primary scorer would go well with Dame. With Jimmy's contract coming up and seeking the max, I can see Pat Riley not wanting to pay him that much til he's 36, especially with how his game doesn't age super well into the late stages of an NBA career. If I'm Portland I'm possibly thinking to ship CJ and a good amount of picks to Miami in a sign and trade to go all in for 2 years before they pretty much hit rebuild purgatory. Also, Stotts needs to go. I think he's been a fine coach, but a change is probably needed if they don't win this series or don't go to the WCF. It's been a long time, and I think they should look to part ways. Might take a look possibly at Dave Joerger or Lionel Hollins or even possibly Wes Unseld Jr. if they believe in the young defensive minded coach.
@Tyweezy843 жыл бұрын
The only free agency move is to trade dame. He’s never gonna win there. U not gonna get a crazy package back for CJ, he’s a solid role player who can score, but u not get’n back a star. Dame needs a legit big 3 to win, that’s how nba is now unfortunately
@chandleryen73153 жыл бұрын
@@Tyweezy84 Well yeah for Dame, but I'm talking about the Portland franchise. CJ could be a main piece in a package for Jimmy, which I feel Pat isn't gonna re-sign since he didn't even want to re-sign Wade at that age. In Dame's case Philly would be the only possible one and that's if they don't win this year, cuz if they do they're running it back. They didn't trade away Simmons for Harden, so why would they for Dame? Lakers have no more assets after the AD trade. Milwaukee will have to give up Middleton or Holiday and that puts them at a disadvantage missing a wing defender when going up against Brooklyn. Miami didn't want to give up Herro and I doubt Portland takes him.
@Tyweezy843 жыл бұрын
@@chandleryen7315 i agree pat isn’t gonna re sign jimmy, he wants 4/180ms, that’s def not happening, so i can see a move for jimmy, but if u watched him this playoffs jimmy took a step back offensively, his jumper isn’t working. Dame needs some scoring help to go with that defense jimmy would give.

@THE_BEAR_JEW3 жыл бұрын
You need to go back and check out his playoff history. It's often CJ who performs better than Lillard. Lillard just tends to have a higher ceiling. He can explode for 40+ points. But CJ is far more consistent. The real issues isn't CJ anyway. Just look at the rest of that roster. It's horrible. I like Nurk but he's just not a good defender at all, he's like a superior Enes Kanter lol. Covington has not brought it on defense at all either and he's not really an offensive threat. The defense is just horrible in Portland and it has been for years.
