The problem is that Cersei only loves her children in the show. In the books she is a complete sociopathic narcissist, and only loves her children as an extension of herself.
@Nougatocity65 жыл бұрын
@@Robin-dt4zu Bruh what? Cersei is the polar opposite of smart. Her entire character arc is having her plans blow up in her face because she doesn't think things through. That's true to both the books and the show.
@Nougatocity65 жыл бұрын
@eoe123321 It's not that she doesn't show love, but the intent behind her love. Joffrey is her favorite child specifically because he is the most like her, and her love for Jamie stems from the fact that Jamie is what Cersei believes she would be like if she was born a boy. Now, this isn't explicitly stated outright, but it can be inferred relatively clearly I feel.

Shakespeare describes Marguerite of Anjou as she wolf of France
@saikeenra4 жыл бұрын
A "she-wolf" was a fairly common insult for women in power, since their will to rule was considered "unnatural". Isabella of France was often referred as one, but Shakespeare for example called Margaret of Anjou a she-wolf as well ("She-wolf of France, but worse than wolves of France"). There's also Eleanor of Provence (wife of Henry III), who was derided as she-wolf during Victorian times.

What about Eleanor of Aquitaine the mother of Richard I was she referefereed as a she wolf?
@irena45454 жыл бұрын
If you're looking just for a "strong woman" parallel, you will find aplenty. However, in broad strokes, her role in the story is based on Elizabeth Woodville (a blonde beauty), the wife of Edward IV (notorious womanizer). After Edward's sudden death, his eldest son was a minor, and his uncle Richard made a move for the throne claiming illegitimacy of Edward's offspring. The sister-brother incest is a page from Anne Boleyn's trial.

Margeary Tyrell has also things of Margaret of Anjou, even more I would say. I'm sure that George inspire Margeary's name on her, and her history. Both marry kings after king to win power. Cersei, anyway, talking about Greek Mythology has also things of Circe and Medea. Even Circe and Cersei's names are similar. From Medea... well... Medea sacrificed her children for vengaence. In the S6 of the show, Cersei did the same with Tommen, so is probabbly she'll do something similar in the books too.

I've always seen large doses of both of them in both Circe and Olenna Tyrell, at different times in their lives. Then again, I also fancy I see more than a dash of Lucretzia and Cesare Borgia in the pair of Cercei and Jaime Lannister, too. The trouble is that both the characters of ASOIAF and the real people who made up renaissance era European history are so rich and varied that you can find parallels everywhere!

If and when he comes back from the dead, I’m thinking he will begin down the road to being king and may eventually wield the legendary sword, Dawn in the Long Night…

Heaven help the religious leader who commanded her to expose herself like that in basically a porn-show, as far as the content in behavior goes, as he'd be killed long before he could repent for that, precisely *to* ensure his loss to Perdition for that foolishness, as well as all religious leaders who insisted on that kind of a punishment at that... I thought stripping the character of Cersei (as well as Lena Headey) naked was sadistic and cruel, and unnecessary for the show. They could have stripped her down to her undergarments or a simple sack cloth outfit and it would have been just as effective. The biggest injustice done to Cersei was how they had her die in the end; completely throwing away her character arc. It would be like the Joker meekly crying when he saw the roof caving in on him, or the Evil Queen in Sleeping Beauty meekly dying of a cave-in. Cersei would have gone out kicking and screaming, and scratching the face of her would-be killer.... They stole a great ending scene from both Cersei and Jamie. The writers of that failure should have been stripped naked and forced to walk naked through the streets of Hollywood, as fans through R.R. Martin's books at him, and the same nun that followed Cersei following behind them and saying "Shame! Shame!" Except those two schmucks had no shame. They wanted to ditch Game of Thrones as quickly as possible, so they could start writing for Star Wars. So they threw the show overboard, along with their fans. It would have been better if they simply hadn't had an eighth season. Any fan of the books or the show could have written a better ending for the characters than those two schmucks, in my serious opinion...

What are you talking about? their only inspiration was to put a faded blond periwig upon the head of Lena Headey. And their unique inspiration for choosing her as Cersei was the recommendation of her beloved friend Peter Dinklage(Tyrion). The result, the Cersei of the series has nothing to do with the original Cersei of the books. I even venture myself into saying that the Cersei of the series is the worst version of Cersei Lannister the world has ever seen.

Since Martin has said he loosely based GOT on the War of the Roses, it makes perfect sense to choose the woman from that time that beat reflects Cersei’s background. There was rumors Margaret’s son, Edward of Westminster, paternity. She was protective over Edwards claim to the throne. Edward Did she have characteristics of different powerful women of that area, sure...but if one HAD to pick the closest parallel, my money is still with Margaret of Anjou.
