On the official website of Ghibli, it's based on Stockholm and Visby. And Ghibli staffs visited there for this movie.
@FindecanorNotGmail8 ай бұрын
I've heard that it was inspired also by Naples (Italy) and Lisbon (Portugal). But most, if not all, direct features that have been identified have been found in Stockholm and Visby

"Ghibli" in itself implies Italy.

it's actully a little bit of combination of Visby & Stockholm :) There are parts of his imaginary city almost copy pasted from Stockholm, and a couple of shop signs copied, lantern styles in known parks with typical late 1800's stockholm buildings, Kungsgatan and so on. Overall more inspired by visby then stockholm for sure! But it took some inspiration from stockholm for the more central parts of the city, the places you see more off early when she flies around almost getting hit by traffic, and a bit later during the clock tower accident. But it's all really cool imo!
@joakimnorrby10 ай бұрын
Yeah you're absolutely right, I recognize kungsgatan, söders höjder and stadshuset to name a few. I feel that the essence of Koriko is more Visby tho, but I'm prolly a bit bias :)
@RamyamHobbies10 ай бұрын
@@joakimnorrby You are correct with the essense! majority of the city is not that small inner part you see early. like I also mentioned, it takes more inspiration from Visby for sure! I feel like he imagined Visby as a little bit bigger city, how the centre might have built up a little bit more during late 1800's, but for the most part kept same aestetics around it, so just took some inspiration from stockholm for smaller innercity part, as stockholm itself is fairly low built, no real skyscrapers, and actully not super big city compared to Japanese standards!

I just concluded my own self-guided Kiki's Delivery tour around Visby and the Gamla Stan area of Stockholm, and your video was a great help in my trip planning! I was able to spot all these landmarks and a whole lot more when I was in Visby. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see my own Jiji, but watching the sun set from the viewpoint at Vårdklockegatan and imagining that there was a young witch with a broomstick watching it with me sort of made up for it.

It's the Lowepro PROTACTIC BP 450 AW II and I think it's about 30L. It's a great backpack and very sturdy but I do tend to get a little soar in my back after 4-5 hours with it on. But that also comes down to what you carry in it and your physical shape (mine could be better, lol).

Cool, didn't know that. Thanks for sharing, now I'm curious to see how it looks!
@FindecanorNotGmail8 ай бұрын
The clock tower is almost a direct copy of the Stockholm City Hall, except that the real-world tower does not have a clock. However... The tower has a clock in another Swedish movie: "Jönsonligan dyker upp igen", which is a remake of a Danish "Olsenbanden" movie, where the original scene is set in/on the Copenhagen city hall's clock tower.
