I read this book for the first time when I was around 10. Its been one of my favorite books ever since, and H G Wells a favored author. Nowadays my attention span is horrible and I can hardly read any bit of literature, and thus I am so very thankful for the availability of audiobooks. It allows me to enjoy many of my favorite books without the frustration of dealing with my inability to read them myself.

If, like me, you generally find librivox audiobooks near unlistenable then you are in for a pleasant surprise with this one. The reader has a perfect voice for the format, warm and gentle timbre and reads well.

Thanks, I thought the title would spoil the point of the story, but the fun's in the telling. This was a great read, and it got me through a long day at work, and I'm all the better for it.

I am 78 and this is my first time to read/listen to this book. I thought I didn’t like science fiction but I see by the comments that it’s classified as that. I truly enjoyed the book but I was hoping he would become visible again and become a decent man.

For future reference, for others here reading, and for any other audiobook you might listen to in the future, remember that you can usually change the play speed of the videos on KZbin, to speed up the orator. That way you can get through your books even faster. 1.25 and 1.5 x speed are usually pretty useful, but, 2x speed is too fast to be comprehended.

@@workingfortheirfuture- or listen to the same book. BEING READ! and respect the author. The printed words can be spoken aloud at whatever speed a person wants. There is no correct speed to read a book.

Better reading than other versions. Different voices for each character. This reading very well brings out the large amount of humour in this story & its absurd aspects. If it's read too seriously the humour doesnt come across. This is a little like the funny parts of Jeeves and Wooster. Thank you!

Ok so basically, this specific version, of this audiobook, posted by you, has been used in IReady(a testing website thing used by schools for Elementary to Middle School final tests) since 2013 which is when this was posted. I know this because, we started using IReady when I was in third grade(I'm going into tenth now if you were wondering), and this thing has showed up every year when I take the test(up until High School of course). The weird thing is, I always got a perfect score on that section, so there was no reason for them to make me take it again. I'm not complaining since it was always easy points, I just thought it was really weird this specific thing would show up every year to remind me that, "Hey its not all bad, here have some points so you pass."
