There was some great music that was created during the Cold War era, the idea of constant danger, not knowing if tomorrow the world could end, that we could be on borrowed time so make the best of it now, create that thing you always wanted and make it the best. Music, novels, movies, etc were so much more alive back then. Relaxed people aren't as motivated, and take shortcuts to produce something "meh", "good enough."

Nice.... but the lead instrument is wrong (kind've important) It was not an 8 string. Don't mess with the basics people. This otherwise beautiful orchestra always seems to struggle with their stringed instruments. Their recreations of Ennio Morricone's works suffered the same problem. Instead of a high treble, reverberated 1960's guitar, they used the dryest dullest sounding guitar you've ever heard. Totally destroyed that Spaghetti Western motif
@steenjacobsen14744 жыл бұрын
What part of interpretation is it you struggle with? The point is never to copy, but to create someting worthwhile within the limits of the orchester. At this they have succeded. You are welcome to not like it, but it is out of order to require a boring copy. That is not how classic orchesters operate.
@spockboy4 жыл бұрын
@@steenjacobsen1474 So being faithful to the original work that literally inspired its recreation is "boring" ? Lmao Really? is that how classic"orchesters"work? If you are going to rebuke someone (and maintain credibility) try to at least get the spelling right.
@steenjacobsen14744 жыл бұрын
@@spockboy Does that cut both ways? I do not think "kind've" is correct english either. But then who am I to lecture you about your own language. We could converse in danish if you prefer? My point still stands, a copy is boring. Might as well put on a CD and listen to that. But you could try to listen to a few dozen versions of any traditional work. They are never the same, and they are not suppposed to be. You may like some better than others, and I may prefer a diffrent one.
@spockboy4 жыл бұрын
@@steenjacobsen1474 Once again Steen, in my opinion, using the correct instrument maintains both the iconic feel and the intention of the composer. (in this case the BRILLIANT John Barry) How the conductor chooses the have the instrument played is entirely up to them. I support anyone's freedom of expression, but that isn't the point here is it? At the end of the day it is very simple. I don't like something that YOU like. DEAL WITH IT. : )
