I went to the Jackson's Triumph concert August 22, 1981, and cried through the whole thing because I loved Michael so much. This record came out before Thriller (December 1, 1982), when Michael really blew up. I was the orginal fan girl at 10 years old. I can feel the tears welling up, just thinking of that concert. Such amazing talent! Visiting the Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN was a powerful, moving experience, too. I went as an adult, but learned some new things. My favorite exhibit had information about Black people elected to office after the Civil War, before Jim Crow. The failure of Reconstruction is a part of history that is not taught much. The building across the street from the preserved hotel room houses a part of the museum that explores the assassination. You can enter the small room and see the window that JER shot from. That added some context for me.

I was born in 1966. In the early '70s The Jackson 5 had a cartoon. There was another group of brothers, The Osmond Brothers who also had a cartoon. It's that Micheal & Donnie Osmond where always compared to each other. The groups were compared to each other. At the Academy Awards one year Micheal & Donnie were presenters with a couple of little kids. If you can find either the cartoons or the Awards show I would love to hear what you have to say.
