A howling, buzz saw guitar; a bass like jack hammer and drums like a staccato machine gun. Wonderful!!

Bruce Foxton, without doubt one of the greatest bass players of his generation.

I would say that the term "underrated" is started to become over-used.

I find it "ironic" that another mllenial would use the word "underrated!"

I have noticed that the term "underrated" is currently a trend and people are using it mindlessly for any number of inappropriate reasons...! @pt8208

@@pt8208 I'm seeing the term "underrated" becoming a trend; people are using it mindlessly to describe anything and everything... because they think it makes them look informed when in actuality it's just vapid regurgitation.

It's certainly one of their most tuneless bits of songwriting (despite strong lyrics). So when you say it's one-of-their-best, I'm guessing you don't dig melody very much right?

An angry Weller is a sight innit? Scathing and spitting at the inevitable; he and his band churn out the truth (like it or not...). More than "songs..." Anthems!

The best live band I've ever seen ( 8 times in all) and this is one of their finest songs, probably written when Paul was about 21 years old. Just like The Beatles , bands like this come around once in a lifetime.

I was just reminded of this terrific upload. I needed to hear something that seared. Ears are now burnt to a glorious crisp. The Jam never let me down. I am 57 and they have always, will always be, my favorite band ever. Thanks La Guerra Contra El Silencio for this!

I did many times! People have no idea how good they were live. All the videos we’ve got don’t really do them justice. This one is a very good example though!

Though the Clash is my favorite band, the Jam is the BEST band that I've ever seen live. To find out that they were playing on this really mediocre nick of SNL thrilled me. Most of Fridays was bad but the bands--Clash, GP & the Rumour, DEVO, Petty--that you didn't see on SNL made it worth sitting through.

Good performance but pales completely next to the version on Dig The New Breed at the Glasgow Apollo. There's something thunderous and magnificent about the way that performance rumbles along.

Honestly, Paul doesn't have the energy anymore for a one-off at RAH. Like the Cream. Bruce & Rick have it but Paul, too many Ciggs and alcohol.
