Clarkson signed an extension through the 25-26 season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him with the Jazz through next season as well. THT is who I'm hoping the Jazz trade.

THT is really the only person I wanna see traded, just because he doesn't necessarily fit our team. I still think he can be of value somewhere else. Wouldn't be terribly mad if fonteccio, ochai, or olynyk got traded either. Just know we need to keep Markkanen, sexton, Dunn, Kessler, and Keyonte for as long as possible. I hope Lauri and sexton retire with the jazz lol. Jordan Clarkson needa stay too and I love what John Collins has been for us

I'm french and started following the Jazz when Gobert got drafted and i kinda like this type of team which build around and develop solid guys, who can become a star ( as Mitchel and Rudy did) instead of trading for a big names. It give this "alway underdog" vibe.

I really think the jazz should keep most of their players if not all. There’s no point in trading away when you have so many picks, and your two star players in markkanen and sexton who are both still young. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. They’re doing really good and could probably make the playoffs. I say they keep growing around this young team and maybe in the future see how good Keyonte could be along with Hendricks and then maybe trade away some players from there

@@alexmason5521 If the Jazz can get something for THT, I'm all for it. Unfortunately, he's going to be a free agent this summer, so any team who wants him is going to make a low-ball offer to the Jazz. But maybe there is already something in the works, because there have been a couple times Hardy could have played him but didn't. Are they protecting him to prevent an injury that would negate a trade? Hmm . . . I guess we will find out soon enough.

THAT is one of the unknown, or underappreciated factors that make this recent Jazz run look, if you're watching all the games, not only sustainable, but improvable! Collins started really slow. New team, new system, new teammates...then, Coach Hardy figured out how to use him, and Collins got the hang of his new teammates. He's been getting better and better and giving up his body defending against starting centers. If he fouls, he fouls, the Jazz can bring in Kessler and Olynyk (and, before the years' end, Taylor Hendricks) or move Markannen to center or power forward. It makes Collins a valuable and productive piece of the puzzle.

That Kessler, Olynk duo is nice to watch come off the bench. I watch college basketball what some would call religiously and Kessler is the best rim protector I have seen since AD. I have always been a fan of Kelly’s game. He isn’t afraid to get dirty either I became a fan of his during that Celtics wizards series several years ago where he became public enemy #1 in DC.

SECRETS OF THE RISE OF THE JAZZ 1) Markannen was getting roughed up by teams early in the year. teams were taking him out of his game. Somewhere along the line, Hardy convinced him to be the aggressor. He's now playing waaay more physically than at any time in his career, while still retaining that top 10% long range touch. It's made him better. 2) Sexton has been producing his great numbers playing 20-24 minutes/game. That's bench player numbers! He's scored 118 pts. in 111 minutes over his last five games. This allows Hardy to play Clarkson, Dunn and George good minutes and they have all been contributing too. 3) The defensive performance of the Jazz has been excellent. This is a many-headed defensive monster, starting with Kris Dunn, who has always been a really good defender, and John Collins starting at center. As starters whose minutes are usually under 24, they can afford to play physical, aggressive defense from the beginning of games. Fonteccio is an unheralded defender but gives tremendous effort and Markannen is playing the best D of his career. And Sexton has diverted some of his superhuman energy and quickness into a version of Patrick Beverly "I wanna wear those shorts too" defense. Then off the bench they have Kessler, crafty vet Olynyk and Ochai Abaji. Their defense, like their offense, goes 240 minutes deep, every game. To the point where if a team makes a 3rd quarter dent in a 20 point Jazz lead, Hardy calls a time out. Not havin' it. (tbh, Clarkson has never been a solid defender, even though he's trying, and George is a rookie who's never had to play much D.) 4) The real improvement in the play of "known quantities" like Collins, Clarkson, Sexton and Markannen points to another advantage the Jazz have: Coaching. Hardy has shown a sharp b-ball mind, but more importantly, he has gotten to these players on a personal level. They really want to play for him, and for each other. They want to get better and they want to win. They've bought in to the offense, and passing the ball, bringing the ball up court quickly, defending aggressively. They're willing to accept their roles. It's actually beautiful and it feels good to root for a team of guys with such a positive vibe around them. That's Hardy's doing. 5) Everybody on every roster can play. But the Jazz are special deep. Every player, 10 deep (and Hendricks/Sensabaugh showing above G-league skills) has some above NBA average aspect to their game, and Hardy is using them so that the Jazz have a solid squad out there for 48 minutes/game. If, for reasons of injury, fouls or in-game rest, their opponents have to sit their top players, the Jazz have the advantage (in most cases). It's been conventional wisdom to build rosters with a "Stars and scrubs" philosophy...but the Jazz are beating those teams. We'll have to see if it can hold up for a season, but it's a really interesting experiment. I don't even know if Danny Ainge MEANT to put together such a roster, or if he just thought he'd have more trade pieces, but he's got something pretty unique here. All that said, they'll probably lose 10 in a row now, lol.

You talk a ton about the players, and rightfully so - but? this transformation is all Will Hardy. He's the one who figured out lineups across 10 man rotation, understanding that Dunn and Sexton are better starters, and Jordan Clarkson/Keyonte George are better off the bench. And part of this huge jump is their defensive rating that is a direct result of starting Sexton, Dunn, Fontecchio, Collins. Most coaches would start Walker Kessler, but Walker coming off the bench helps dominate the paint on both ends of the floor vs other teams 2nd unit.

I don't think any team should really be trying to tank this year. If you look at next year's draft class it is pretty abysmal. Even if Detroit gets the top pick they're not getting anybody that I think is going to be a star right away. Of course there's always hidden gems and there'll be some in this draft class but I can't tell you who it's going to be because everybody looks pretty mid. No Wemby or Paolo waiting for the lottery winner.

They’re better off letting this pick go back to OKC this year. It isn’t a quality draft year I. The range they’d pick even if they tank from the trade deadline and all they do is lock up a 8 million contract that plays for the G League. Better to save the money for the cap and use to resign Laurie or grab a proven vet with it. Just because it’s a higher draft pick doesn’t always mean it’s worth tanking for.

We're halfway through the regular season, they're 3 games behind the 6 seed and a guaranteed play-off spot with no play-in, they're on a 6-game winning streak and they're sitting on a ton of picks. Play-off experience would be invaluable to the development of this whole team, they should absolutely try and make it in. This year's draft class isn't looking too strong anyways.

Small market team and Lauri had just above average beginning for the season. Lauri has to break through into playoffs and all-nba to have even a minor chance get thru with fan votes. If he was a Lakers or Warriors player, he would go thru easily, if he keeps up his recent play. Nevertheless, coaches will get him there again.

They have only lost 3 games since 12/20. That includes the loss that day to Cleveland without Mitchell and Garland. They beat a full strength Denver team, leading by double digits for the final 28 minutes. They beat Milwaukee without Lillard. They didn't let the Bucks score more than 30 points in 3/4 quarters that game. They beat the Lakers without LeBron, keeping AD at 4/17 outside of 6'. Finally, they beat Philly without Embiid and Harris. Keep in mind, on 12/21, they played the Pistons (24 consecutive losses at the time) and the Pistons were favored to win. Thats how bad this team was.
