I think Ahmed Best’s performance in this episode was what we needed. It didn’t have to be a major character. Literally, anyone could have saved Grogu. I am glad that Ahmed Best came back and gave an awesome performance!

I remember replying, it’s like an introduction to star wars for a new generation. Correction - Kellerin didn’t have two lightsabers until Grogu’s elevator appeared with the dead jedi on the ground of it. Kellerin picked up that dead jedi’s lightsaber there when he grabbed Grogu.

Kelleran Beq's an absolute beast in that same scene with the dual sabers, and I'm still not over that scene since then. I NEVER HATED HIM OR JAR JAR, they're my favorites since day one, and it is fucked up that the fans nearly drove him to suicide, but he survived thanks to real life martial arts training he partook in.

Ever since Lucasfilm want to create their own "Legends of the Hidden Temple", they need a placeholder Jedi, and that's where Ahmed Best comes in, to give him something to make him happy after all the Jar Jar treatment. And the Mandalorian episode made his character show he's more than just a random OC Jedi from the game show.

I think because of Grogu's young age he'd be trained by Yoda with the other younglings at this point. He's in his twenties during order 66, but for Yoda species he's still an infant/ toddler. Ashoka was often overseen by Plo Koon before she was apprenticed to Anakin, so this could be a similar situation. I'm glad Ahmed Best is back and that people who grew up with the prequels are showing kindness. He's a great actor and has a home here in the Star Wars galaxy.

My sister noticed something wild about Grogu's rescue. He and Kelleran Beq escaped on a royal Naboo ship the only person on Coruscant with a ship like that would be Padme! That means Padme, when she saw the Jedi temple burning she immediately put into motion a plan to save the jedi probably by contacting them secretly and telling them that if they could get to a Naboo ship they could get to safety and because she had diplomatic immunity they could get away. She had put in place a plan that insured the safety and future for her kids. So when she went to Mustafar she wasn't surprised there was a jedi with her, she was surprised it was Obi-wan.

I think there’s definitely more to the story. That was an organized, planned escape. It’s possible Padme or Bail Organa supplied the ship/guards and they may be flying to meet up with Quinlan Vos or someone.

How would Padme know what is happening? All she can see is a fire and she found what happened in the morning when Anakin told her. Bail upon finding out didn’t even tell Padme his ally. Instead instantly leaving to go look to see if Yoda and other senior members survived. In the novelisation of ROTS which even Disney said is canon says that the 501st blocked the comms to the temple before the attack. So the Jedi couldn’t have reached out to ask for help or Padme / Jar Jar or Bail reach them via comms. Which is why Bail went there to investigate himself.

She didn’t have to know exactly what was going on but she could’ve sent her men to go help in any way they can. I single her out because the ship looked like her ship from the movies and they also looked like Naboo guards

Edit - also her men wouldn’t have got near the temple as the 501st would have stopped them as they did with Bail. Also her men were on the platform waiting for Beq. They even asked where the others. So they expected him to have more. That is not really sending help if they are just stood waiting for Beq to arrive.

It doesn’t seem like coincidence that Kelleren Beq knew to wait for Grogu at the top of that elevator and take him to that exact landing pad where a ship was waiting protecting by what look like Naboo Royal Guards. @@colinmcv2715 So his job a teacher in the temple and was a senior teacher then it is clear that he would want to protect and evacuate younglings. And since hardly anyone knew about Grogu and I can imagine certain instructions were left for him to get him away from the temple. That is not the issue. The issue is the Naboo involved and him knowing exactly where to go. As it contradicts established canon. Now if they had him escape the Tempe and head to the lower levels to Coruscant to steal a ship and then leave the planet then that is fine. Also his “planned” escape is purely down to chance. If those first set of Clone Troopers didn’t land there by the elevator to try and stop him then he wouldn’t have had a route away from the temple. He would have been cut off by the troops coming around the corner which even he knew he could not keep at bay as he chooses that time to escape. But without the speeder there is no escape.

That was such a classic Filoni/Favreau move to not use an already established canon character that we all *_know_* saved Grogu, but to pull from the legends universe, bring them into canon and set them up for a totally new story arc.

Two blades were a last resort. Fighting with one light saber is normal when he is dueling but fighting a squad of 501st clone troopers required two sabers.

@theory I think he originally not using 2 sabers (correct me if i am wrong). If we check the sequence, when the elevator opens, Beck go down and pick up the blue saber from the elevator floor. As he noticed Clone troops coming in to the area, he had no choice but to use his and that saber right away as he is alone with grogu. Imo he main saber is the green one.

Hear me out: They went to Quin Lin Vos (probably misspelled, sorry) as we know that Vos helped some Jedi after Order 66 (proof seen in the Kenobi Show). My guess is that Vos "wiped" Grogus memory. Would be cool to see him again.

It's a cool cameo and im glad they're progressing story and lore; but I need way more than 26 minutes to feel satisfied - especially when there's already been so much filler past two seasons and this season to get to even here. Note: also more they progress story it feels like double-edged sword because as it moves towards sequel trilogy, and then the more hesitant speculation I have for tying in: 1. Somehow Palpatine returned 2. Where was grogu? It makes it feel more disconnected and apparent there was no original plan from disney.

One thing about Kelleran - if you notice, he actually picks up one of the lightsabers from the floor of the elevator. When Grogu went into the elevator, one jedi was shot dead as the door closed. Makes it so horrible for Grogu, escaping in an elevator with a corpse, going who knows where, and who knows if he'll see an enemy or an ally on the other side. When the door opens, Kelleran picked up the lightsaber of the fallen jedi. So it's likely Kelleran didn't default to dual-wielding; his primary style likely used one single blade. But the fact he could so easily shift into two blades is a testiment of his skill.

One minor thing, despite being proficient at wielding two lightsabers, he only seemed to have one when he found Gorgu. The second lightsaber (the blue one) he picked up from the dead Jedi in the elevator. I'm curious about why he only normally wielded one if he was so skilled at using two. Though I suppose Anakin was the same way since we see him using two lightsabers expertly in his fight with Barriss in season 5 of Clone Wars.

I always thought Jar Jar’s character was maybe a bit too silly, but when my son was old enough to watch the prequels and always giggled at Jar Jar to now being a teenager I find him snd myself still doing Jar Jar imitations with the voice. You know I kind of like that the identity of Grogu's rescuer came out of nowhere. Everyone had speculated that it was going to be a big name like Quinlan Vos, Mace Windu, Jocasta Nu, Bariss Offee, etc. Why not be someone else who was not high profile in the Star Wars universe? In the heat of battle new heroes are born. Having said that, I beg the showrunners to not bring us live action Jar Jar. Let it go.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that in the very first episode of the Mandalorian, Grogu is being protected by a rather large band of Nikto. Not the Empire. Not Moff Gideon. Common gangsters. And according to Quin, they've been holding him there for a long while. Long enough that Quin got sick of all the bounty hunters swarming his cozy planet. Kelleran could still be alive, having entrusted Grogu to a group of non--force sensitives thinking they could hide him better, perhaps while he run distraction and diverts the Empire's attention towards himself, making them think he still has the youngling.

What do you personally think of the theory, that Ventress maybe is the connection to the fact, that Grogu found himself at the end in the hands of bounty hunters where we saw him first in Mando Season 1? Would love to see her in the show too...

How long is Grogu’s species typically a youngling? I would think the Grogu would have multiple master’s which makes me wonder if it would’ve been better to make an exception and have Yoda train him.

Yoda said in Empire to Luke “for 800 years have i trained Jedi” Grogus already 55 (ish) so i assume he needs to be master status in 45 for the Yoda line to make sense. Which then means Grogu needs a pretty substantial evolution in the next few years to get out of this cute, baby youngling phase…

Hey Theory! Do you remember how the visual design for Quinlan Voss in The Clone Wars was inspired by that random background extra on Tatooine in The Phantom Menace? Later, it was added to the canon that this same extra was indeed Quinlan Voss and he was on an undercover mission in Mos Espa, hence why he couldn't blow cover to help Qui Gon. Well now that Ahmed Best has appeared in live action as Keleran Beq, do you think they will have to add a similar backstory to Best's cameo in the sports bar in Attack of the Clones?

I may have been me, but i felt Best's lines and dialogue delivery were clunky. But I honestly don't mind the host of the "for kids Star Wars game show" is cannon and was involved somewhere.

Great to see Ahmed Best again This Kelleran character was new to me, but great. Now Ahmed has two roles in Mandalorian One as Kelleran who saves him and then as Jar Jar that takes care of Grogu when he comes to Naboo Might also be Jar Jar that is the reason Grogu blocked his memory.

He's genuinely hurting the deeper much more serious story of Mandalorian culture and it's entire freakin survival for Disney's obnoxious cute character sales. He should have stayed with Luke and let that be the end of it, but nooo we couldnt have another series without some painfully unaware dopey "cute" character, especially when it involves tackling topics beyond anything Disney ever was capable of writing like Clone Wars era politics.

Given that we’ve already seen Din Djarin bathe in the Living Waters, Bo-Katan did the same AND saw a Mythosaur, BOTH were redeemed by the Armorer and Bo’s been accepted into their covert…there isn’t much else to see of this Mando storyline, apart from someone eventually riding the Mythosaur and uniting the Mandalorian tribes, and I expect the the Children of the Watch will do away with the helmet requirement from their Creed. And we’re only halfway through the season. So I’m totally down with learning more about Grogu’s rescue from the Temple and who he was with prior to his abduction by Moff Gideon. I’m expecting a new story direction for Din before the season closes, which will likely involve a cliffhanger that carries us into Season 4.

He doesn't always use two lightsabers, he picked the blue bladed one off the ground from one of the dead Jedi. He used them both in that scene but only the green one was his particular lightsaber. I heard he was a teacher of younglings primarily.
