Early 80's . I walked into a bar on King West T-O. I can't remember the name but it had a front bar with the entry on King and a larger back bar with a small stage. There were only 4 of us in the front and it was empty in the back. After about 10 minutes a band started playing from the back and at about the 60 second mark I had to check out the guitarist who was playing. Jeff Healy playing to an empty house ! I never heard of him before but I was captivated, mesmerized and shocked at his technical abilities and his musical prowess. What a talent and what a treasure he really was. Too many took him for granted but he always put a smile on my face. A lot of us miss the man and his music. Bless you Jeff Healy.

I’ve played guitar for 2/3rds of my life and what Jeff does is completely unconventional inso far as his playing style. It’s completely unique. No one fingers these chords in the way that he does, and it’s completely obvious that he learned to play this song by ear (what other choice did he have) and that’s not a bad thing. He clearly was a musical genius.

@@glenlee9537 What are you on dude? First off, she meant it as a compliment. Second, it's TRUE! Jeff Healey walks amongst the greatest guitarists (and overall musicians) in the history of the world - blind or not blind - yet how many people around the world really know who he is, compared to other greats? Jeff should be a household name, yet he isn't mentioned nearly as the others, he is consistently left off the "greatest guitarist" lists, and to state that fact is far from an insult, and/or uninformed.
@robnhood32142 жыл бұрын
@@joeblough261 I agree and I was thinking the same when I read his comment. Jeff Healey was most certainly one of the all time greats and never got the recognition he deserved. I played in a little 'sober band' of recovering members of A.A. & N.A. on a Saturday night at St. Bartholomew's Church on Dundas /Parliament Sts., in Toronto back in 1979/81. We were called "ROMPIN' RONNIE RICH & THE SERENITY THREE" myself Scotty R' Jim St.P. and Danny ? fronted by our illustrious leader Ron R. Jeff's Dad used to bring him in and he'd get up and even then? he'd wow! us with his playing. His buddies back then were still with him at the end and shows the loyalty that they shared. He was a talent that is surely missed by his family and friends. R.I.P. young fella.
