This game shows the difference between all-stars and starters. This game occurred after Linsanity blew up, meaning teams now have him on their scouting reports and developed ways to counter him. In addition, being one of the first options, you also need the stamina to deal with all the better defenders guarding you. That's what makes all-stars special, they can't be stopped strategically and cant be stopped physically.
@robotube73612 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Well said. Linsanity was nothing but a product of him surprising everyone because they didnt know who he was and how he played. Usualy in the NBA circuit players know eachother and know their weaknesses.They watch videos of opposing players, strategize how to stop them. Jeremy Lin was an unknown thrusted in the spotlight and he took advantage of opposing players not knowing his style. Once Linsanity blew - he was on the radar and every opposing guard studied him, did their homework and were able to crack him. Pretty embarrasing to watch how they closed him down and exposed him for being nothing but a solid bench warmer. He was not a superstar despite Houston even taking a chance with him making him a starter. He was never been able to successfuly shake off elite defenders and this is what separates men from boys in the NBA. Many noobs bought into the linsanity BS hype. There is a reason he was never successful after Linsanity and its not because he is Asian. its because he is weak physically for the NBA and too slow for a guard. Dont even gonna go there mentioning him being liability on the defense that every player his size and bigger can exploit. He has IQ ofc and decent speed. But when it comes to purely defined elements and skilset - he doesnt. He is below average 3 point shooter and below average 2 p shooter. Playoffs jeremy lin is at the very bottom of the league. New Yorkers and their prophesity for hype is legendary lol.

@zerocal764 жыл бұрын
It wasn't just a drop in confidence. You have much more athletic players pressuring you, quick guards guarding you at the perimeter and if you happen to get by them, you got the long athletic players waiting inside crashing in on you. He would have needed a nasty mid range game or solid 3 pt game to even stand a chance.
@fried_riceee4 жыл бұрын
zerocal76 It was a drop a confidence, you don’t need to be athletic to get past those guys you just need to make the right moves and plays. So many times he made the wrong move causing turnovers and empty possessions. He was nervous as hell
@zerocal764 жыл бұрын
@@fried_riceee I agree confidence is a big factor but come on man, a lot of good defense comes down to being quick on your feet and good reflexes to keep up w the offensive player. You can shutdown a typical player outside of the post by cutting him off and contesting his shots well and that comes down to a little bit of discipline but mostly athleticism. His confidence would only take him so far, esp when the Heat are pressing; they were playing much harder than usual against him on D. They wanted NO linsanity and its clear
@jellybeanz19894 жыл бұрын
zerocal76 it was definitely a confidence/ mindset issue here. He destroyed very “athletic players” such as Kobe Bryant and the lakers just a couple days earlier
@fried_riceee4 жыл бұрын
zerocal76 ya of course athleticism takes you over that hump to being excellent. you can tell he was so hesitant to even press up or drive anymore, his quickness and speed was gone bc he couldn’t make up his mind on what to do. For example, tony parker had success VS the heat without turning it over as much bc he was fast and confident, not athletic at all. just really smart and he was shorter.

Linsignificant. Linvisible. I hate how the media hyped him up, but I'm glad linsanity has been dialed down a few notches.

Lin has a shot, but no fundamentals. He will have to improve his speed a lot.. The Heat made him look like he was some over-hyped little kid, and honestly a lot of his shots look so slow-motion that I think he is. He either needs to step it up or he'll get stomped again by any team that takes him seriously.. he honestly got 'crushed'. Stolen from him practically every time he got the ball, cuz he dribbles like slow ass fool.

This is why I wish the 2012 or 2013 heat could've time traveled to 2015-2019 to face the warriors. I feel all the great defenders the heat had especially at the guard positions would've hassled Steph Curry, even moreso than a Delly or Patrick Beverley. He would've had to deal with Chalmers , Cole and wade taking turns on him , and occasionally LeBron, while the heat can switch and rotate while being able to trap out high. Curry would've had tons of turnovers while barely being able to get off clean shots. During this heat era the only guards who had good games against them was a short list, Westbrook, rondo, rose, parker and MCW first NBA game. That's about it. And each of those players had just 1 or 2 good games mixed in with a ton of subpar games. In my mind the best matchup would've been 2016 warriors vs 2013 heat

To be fair Miami was destroying everyone that year. He did a nice job bouncing back after this game. Shame his career ended after that injury with Brooklyn though

I swear Jeremy Lin is overrated he only got two good weeks that it he get so many opportunities to be the main pg and look what he a decent back up pg nothing more
@Youngin9112 жыл бұрын
Bro, you can say he has an off night, but Lin is not number 1 point guard. Think about all the point guards in the league. He's not even a better than Jrue Holiday and Jrue not even an all star. Waaay long way to go.

Its not a hate video. It just shows how crazy people get off of a fad. The world went crazy over Lin. Miami just put pressure on him and he made tons of mistakes. Its a feel good story, but lets be honest he is no way shape or form an elite point guard.

@@ChallengeHC oh word, what did Lin do in Houston? What about LA? What about Charlotte? Melo took the Knicks to 54 wins the very next season and the 2nd round, while playing on a torn shoulder. Lin just sucked ass after he left NY.

You can tell the Knicks threw that game and they wanted to Help the Heats end the Linsanity Run. Half of the Knicks weren't even trying. The fact that Lin scored 8 points playing 1 vs 9 is an Amazing feat!

no miami just put rio on him and rio takes the challenge so serious...lin looked so scared....he had never faced real pressure...there was a reason he wasnt drafted dude cant dribble....rio is a beast defender ....he pressured lin more than he pressures anyone...

The game vs the miami heat was highlighted to bash on JLin. They forgot it was not only JLin that the Miami Heat stopped... they practically shut down NY's offense period. So why hate on Lin when everyone even Melo had a hard time scoring.

Well Miami were ranked #4 in defensive rating the year. I think at that point in the season they were #2 or #1. The other teams in the linsanity run were mostly outside of the top 10 defensive rating, some were the down the bottom. So yeah, once defensive coverage is adjusted and you come up against a good team, you are going to have a bad night.

Nah Melo in this game was doing everything to help the team, boxing out and rebounding. Lin barely pay any attention to one of the most versatile offensive player ever and kept on trying to score by himself. He trying too hard to prove a point
