I use to think that The Joker came from no origin because his real origin kept being retold in various ways over and over again. I use to think that he does what he does because he is an absolute evil person who just causes chaos just for his own entertainment and fun. But after watching the *Killing Joke* movie I realized that The Jokers philosophy is somewhat true. All it takes is one bad day to cause a fragile man turn to lunacy. Some people can go through those types of tragic things and rise of from them to become something necessarily good (Batman) Or others can fall into despair and become something wrong and dangerous (Joker)
@Shittyrapper3 жыл бұрын
The only reason we perceive Batman as good is because he’s more in line with the established order. If society moved on from the current way that it is in the Batman universe then society wouldn’t need Batman anymore and he would be considered a freak just like the joker. When Bruce's parents died, he had something he could return to - the mansion, Alfred and more money than he knew what to do with at this point. Granted, none of these things could bring back his parents, but they were there to anchor him, especially Alfred. The Joker? If we can believe the backstory given in the Killing Joke (doubtful, I admit), then his life went from "barely there" to completely wiped out in a single day by circumstances that, while independent from each other, worked together in seemingly perfect harmony to ruin his life. Batsy fell into a safety net while the Joker had no such thing and fell into an abyss from which there is no escape.

This film is the best Joker portrayal out there. We all have had theories as to how Joker became the evil villain he is. All it takes is one very bad day to drive the most sane man into lunacy. That could not be any more true. Some people who’ve experienced some sort of traumatizing experience can either rise above it (Batman) whereas others let their lunacy consume them and they become dangerous and harmful (Joker). Hamill and Conroy’s acting just made the film even more better.

I think I can believe that the monologue is somehow true in many ways. Some can agree while many will not, because they probably never experienced it as a true enough fact of this amazing monologue. I think an example should explain this... One, bad, day CAN drive a man insane. For some who are still lucky enough... If you have one seriously bad day, see a way out, you can use that anchor to escape the terrors of your internal and external struggles. But for a regular, ordinary man to fall into a terrifying abyss of nightmares and inevitable fears from which you CANNOT, EVER, ESCAPE... You WILL go insane. You may refuse this at first, denial is the first stage in your own mind. Then you will try to find ways of a mental escape... But will never satisfy yourself trying, no matter how much you do. Then the final stage finale comes into play! (Pun intended), Your mental struggles will overwhelm your mind, sadness and feelings of loss become your anger and bitter defiance, then you will choose to act as you please... Showing the world that you hate your life, so you will in turn make those suffer in return for your bitterly evil desires. And as I finish this example... Madness, IS the emergency exit.

So I have a question. What do you think would happen to the Joker if he had one good day. I’m not talking like “he just blew up a hospital” kind of good,but like a genuinely good day. No evil done, no master scheme, no one dying. Just a really good day. Would it have changed him for the better?

I don't think the Joker is completely insane. Honestly, he seems more like a misanthropic nihilist. The only thing that indicates he's insane is that he doesn't really remember what drove him to this point which would be repressing the traumatic experience, but that's only an indication not proof. If we look at things objectively, the Joker is right, but it's the way he goes about proving his point that makes people question his sanity. The Joker's problem isn't a psychological one, but an existential one. To him morals and ideals have no real value or meaning, that's why everything is a joke to him.

He believes that deep down everyone is monster just like he is and it only takes just one bad day to bring that monster out of anyone. So as far as he's concerned he's really the only sane one and he's just ahead of everyone else. No one, not Batman, not even Hugo Strange has ever truly figured him out.
