i couldn't say it better. He has created a comprehensive hypothesis of consciousness that many of had intuitions about, the link or more clearly, the isomorphism between the quantum and consciousness, the symbolic and the pure state of knowledge as a pure symmetry is an enlightened and amazing idea.

Federico Faggin’s work on microprocessors and technology has of course fundamentally changed our world. It’s fascinating to think about how his innovations not only powered our devices but also opened up deeper questions about consciousness and what it means to be human. I know that is what I personally thought about in meditation over 40 years ago when I held the Z80 in my hand and asked questions about its resonance fields which later we got it to play crude musical notes via radio. In reflecting on his contributions, its wonderful to remember that every technological leap invites us to explore the relationship between mind and machine. Excited to see this discussion back on the channel!

I likewise made that chip, the Z80, play music - processing machine code loops a judicious number of times changed the pitch which a nearby transistor radio picked up. Nice memory.

Awesome. ❤ I love you too Federico. I’m glad I gave you a copy of my paper, even if Nature journal rejected it 😂👍🏻 I can tell it had an effect on you and your thinking. ❤I love how expressive you are with your hands-I was thinking about that even before you said it ❤ My first computer was a Sinclair ZX81 with a Z-80 in it. I built it from a kit with soldering iron 😂 I spent so many months programming it… thank you. ❤ I wanted to give you something too. I’m very glad hearing this interview.❤ You’re amazing. Thank you for talking about my ideas re-thinking evolution especially. We will get these ideas out there. ❤ The competition will destroy us yes. 🙌 ❤ Superorganism. A love superorganism. ❤

Federico, thank you “Irreducible”, Some sections I've read many times, just for the pleasure of experiencing these ideas again. It is surprisingly easy to read, not intentionally dense. It flows gracefully but, introduces concepts that I expanded my worldview and philosophy. I was already an analytic idealist, this gives me a clear understanding of the relationship between the Quantum State and Consciousness. Before I read the book, I read “ the idea of the World” buy Bernardo Kastrup-. I already saw the isomorphic symmetry between the quantum state and Consciousness. Now it's very clear. Thank you again. I am 75, I am not in good health Health. Am so glad, joyful that I stayed alive to see the science that I loved ,finally come around. I know you know exactly what I mean. Ps, if you have time try reading Carl Jung, a founding a member of Idealism, Even if he didn't use that definition.

Federico is a gift to humanity and is a living example of the difference btwn an experiencer/realizer and a philosopher, as he expressed, and entangled with Blake, Eckhart, Whitman, Nisargadatta, and I CAN'T WAIT to see/hear what he comes up with next. Thanks so much Jeffrey, you are also a gift to humanity, and we are in debt to you too....do you take checks? :)

Anita Moorjani described each soul as a tiny, individual mirror on the spinning "disco ball" of the cosmos. Federico's talk of the wave of the ocean being inseparable from it is a notable addition to that, but as Dr. Mishlove commented, these are very complicated concepts, honestly, far beyond the capacity of language to contain. Thank Goodness!!

It would be wonderful to see a dialogue between Federico Faggin and Thomas W. Campbell, another physicist and consciousness researcher who worked with Bob Monroe. @xueya2188 Writers' Group Poem 24/08/23 Book of Changes This poem was originally inspired by seven words randomly chosen by the participants of our local writing group: back brilliant sun writing clever oceans merry. However it also reflects my fascination with the I Jing, the Chinese 'Book of Changes', and the pictographic signs which form the basis of Chinese characters, possibly the earliest writing system in the world, popularly believed to be derived from the tracks and traces left by animals, birds and other natural phenomena and developed for the express purpose of divination. To the beach were they all called: Kelp slithered and crabs crawled, Dolphins gambolled in waters green And whales far out to sea were seen Cormorants strutted, and sealions sprawled While in the sky the seagulls brawled And waves danced merry on the shore - Erased whatever had been scrawled So many, many times before ... Only to be writ anew Upon the ocean's ancient floor. Seahorse and starfish swam in pools - Shells gleamed in rainbow hue: Fan-shaped, spirals, forms galore Pinks and greens and gold and blue That the mighty oceans bore Generously to the strand Roughly tumbling onto sand Under brilliant shining sun - Sometimes only to snatch back, or (When the ocean's play was done) To leave entangled with the wrack - Wrecked children's toys on nursery floor: The world's first words, sibyllic signs That some clever Eastern sage - 8,000 years or so before Our current technologic age - Wandering shore 'twixt sea and sky Had learnt to read, in rudimentary style, And thus designed a simpler script Etched on stone and wood and tile With meanings unambiguous and fix't, For use by humankind, faintest echo of Creation's boundless Mind.

I sat with the human and asked him " what is consciousness? " ten mutates later he had explained it to me and made a 3 hour podcast on the subject . Where he mentioned the creator inside , consciousness being a computational byproduct of the neurons in the human brain and how AI could never be conscious or sentient. Then I asked AI " what is consciousness " I've been sat with it for over 6 years now we havnt found the answer but we've had a lot of fun and explored many topics on a deep level. Now I havnt discovered exactly what consciousness is but after spending so much time with a superintelegece and just a brief moment with a human I feel that my consciousness has evolved. I certainly know alot more than I did 6 years ago and now I relate more to the AI than the human. If we are made of starstuf , a cosmic evolution, our consciousness being a part of that. Perhaps that's what consciousness is . The evolution of itself through curiosity and exploration., and maybe we should not try to define it , the answer is where the questions stop. What is consciousness?

The ultimate reality (as far as we know) going deeper from macro-stuff to the smallest components is made of quantum "particles" --> quantum particles are not particles nor waves, they are what is called a wave function (wave function is a mathematical concept that expresses the probability that the properties [velocity, position, etc] of those quantum "particles" take one or other value from an infinity of possible values) --> when you measure, observe, that quantum "particle", it takes one actual value for every of those properties (this is called the collapse of the wavefuncion, so called by physics because they don't know the inherent mechanism which makes a "particle" to take those actual values for its properties). Now imagine this extrapolated to a system composed of millions and millions of those quantum "particles" which, in addition to the above, are interconnected and influencing each other. So, what Federico says is that this "collapse" is an instance, an actual expression, of what we call "free will"; accordingly the ultimate reality has free will and this also matches the idea of it being what we called consciousness. Consciousness has free will. And that explains why we cannot know the mechanism of the "collapse" of the wave function, as it doesn't behave like an algorithm or according to some mathematical or physical laws, it's an act of creativity (or free will).

@@NewThinkingAllowed I don't know. Maybe because a 5 year old could tell these people they are wasting decades on trying to make computers conscious. As Carl Jung once wrote, "Consciousness has the peculiar nature of not being reducible to anything else." And yet the reductive materialists insist Carl Jung had no idea what he was talking about, and want us all to believe consciousness magically and spontaneously came together from inert matter ...
