Dear Lek, thank you for saving another life. Three and a half is a toddler in elephant years. I see how thin she is and how badly she missed her mother. God bless you for reuniting them.

Other than humans, elephants have the longest juvenile of any animals, usually fifteen years. So three is incredibly young to take an elephant away from their mom.

We need to treat animals with respect and care instead putting them in captivity. Protect whales as well. This is a touching story and thank you for those who are dedicating for these animals. They have emotions and feelings as we do. Big cheers for the owners who gave them up for their freedom soon in wild. We all can be educated and change for the better.

How wonderful for MeBai to be reunited with his mother, Mae Yui. I admire elephants so much for their intelligence and their social unity. Thank you, "Pamper a Pachyderm program" and Elephant Nature Park working together with this group of people to bring mother and son together. So happy. Others will know about this effort and will help the elephants. It's amazing the trekking camp released Mae Yui to the Elephant Nature Park. Thank you.

We could learn a lot from our gentle giants. All they want to do is love. They are smart, intelligent, and their unwavering love for their own is so amazing because as human we tend to think only humans have that capability. The organization is doing a marvelous job in understanding the elephants. Reuniting mom and child was awesome.

WELL DONE YOU GUYS. ELEPHANTS ARE VERY SENTIENT BEINGS. WE SHOULD NEVER DO TO AN ELEPHANT WHAT WE WOULD NOT DO TO A CLOSE MEMBER OF OUR OWN HUMAN FAMILY. TREAT ELEPHANTS LIKE WE WOULD OUR CLOSEST FRIENDS THEN WE WILL UNDERSTAND THEM AND THEY WILL UNDERSTAND US. WE ARE ALL SENTIENT BEINGS.

Human mothers often describe their love to children as the most amazing, precious feeling - yet they willingly deny the same feelings to animals. But why - we came from the same cell, and maternal instinct is UNIVERSAL. Same as the sense of loss is universal, be it human or animal mother. This is the idea of Anthropocentrism, yet without animals there will be no humans, but without human - animals will be just fine.

They are so sweet , so lucky, it makes me glad that this was somehow arranged. The awesome part is that Lek has offered an alternative for the elephant owners to earn a living to support the elephants as well as the families. In a natural and loving way of interaction, with positive reinforcement, instead of riding and doing tricks, the domestic Asian Elephant may somehow have a chance to stop suffering at the hands of the starving mahouts, and who knows maybe even repopulate the beautiful and lush jungles of Thailand. Pamper a pachyderm, is the perfect example of how it is possible. Hopefully other elephant centered tourist attractions will like it, and will see the success and follow suit. The mindset of tourists must be altered, so that the intelligent, majestic, giants, a symbol of Thailand can be treated with the love and respect they have earned in nearly four thousand years of domestication and servitude. Perhaps there is hope to recover from what is, now, very near, inevitable extinction. Ride a bike....love and feed an elephant! Let's make it a new tourist motto. A sincere and earnest THANK YOU to Lek for everything she has done and continues to do for elies. Yes dear lady....love is the way.

It would have been nice to see the actual moment of reunion, or recognition, that the people kept referring to in this clip. Anyway, glad the little elephant is reunited with her mother.
@shiboof9 жыл бұрын
Redboy4 THAT was the first meeting. It took them a few minutes. It HAS been three years apart. We all change physically. The baby seemed to realize it before her Mom. As the mother began to touch and smell the baby, the realization was there. Sorry, you wanted a DRAMATIC moment. Sometimes it does not happen that way.
@Redboy49 жыл бұрын
Actually I didn't want a DRAMATIC moment, but the speakers made it sound like there was a particular moment. Anyway, the clip is good and I'm happy they are reunited.

I like the reunion, and the interviews with the folks that went on the trek with the elephant. Much respect for them to help out these amazing animals. But that being said, I'd like to offer some constructive criticism to the editors of the video. I personally think the pacing is terrible. Having the elephants already together with the narration for the first couple minutes, and then showing the trek to the meeting, just seems bizarrely backwards to me. Having the interview with the people as they travel with the young elephant builds up an excitement, and expectation that we will get to see the reunion itself. I thought they'd at least show the footage of the pair finally seeing each other again at the end of their journey, as a nice bookend to the piece. It really seems to me like the first 1:40 of the video should be cut from the beginning and put on the end. But hey, that's just, like, my opinion man.

Of course you are correct, Maddie. But allowing them forest and relative freedom is the best than can be done in their situation if they wish to protect them.
