Giri is definitely getting more and more confidence, playing extremely well. Now there is some top-level OTB chess going on in Gibraltar. The Women's Grand Prix. Hopefully you'll have a moment to check out some of the games, and perhaps show a game or two. Sad that you aren't the one there giving live commentary!

I've been waiting for something up-to-date and comprehensive about the Kalashnikov forever! Can't ever seem to find satisfactory material as I have to face it with White, and have contemplated playing it with Black. I'm wondering if you'll cover some of the history and why you've gone with the modern lines in the course (?), in order to fill in some of that background and help me fight against it with White and mix it up with Black. Anyway thanks for addressing this gap in the literature and will keep my eye out for its arrival!

In the Kalashnikov course I will simply be presenting what I believe are the best lines for Black, it doesn't matter if they are modern or not!

I played the Kalashnikov for a short period of time a few years ago after seeing an old video series by Tony Rotella on it. I was even worse then than I am now so I don't think it really clicked with me but it was always fun to play.

really looking forward to your repertoire on chess able on the Kalashnikov a great opening I used to play a lot of svechnikovs and I still will play it but it s really well analyzed and there are a lot of forced variations that lead to a draw and I want to play for a win with black so the Kalashnikov is perfect

I suggest you analyse Paetz vs Dragnidze round 4, because it is Sicilian 2. c3 and I think it will be instructive game

As I undersand it, the Kalashnikov will be in the 'Lifetime Repertoire' series, but I am not including the Anti-Sicilians (at least not for the moment). That might take me another lifetime to complete.

Giri actually never goes for a Berlin draw like Naka, Wesley So and Firouzja. He won most of his games in the preliminaries in these past online tournaments.
