Emotional intelligence is so important. And we will never get it if we keep away from connecting to other people! But I think it is also very important to work in different fields, collecting different perspectives and being able to understand each other. I realized that it is also a hard thing to make others understand your point of view if they focused only on one thing for their whole life.
@MonicaSancio6 жыл бұрын
That's right, Alex... But what do you mean by focusing on one thing... Thanks!
@AlexCio6 жыл бұрын
@@MonicaSancio Some people have one job for their whole life, sometimes they come home, their family does everything else for them. I think this is a problem where people have been specialized and focusing on only on specific task in their job. The more different things you experienced in your life, different jobs, different people you speak to, the more perspectives you will collect and the more you can understand other people. I think it will change a lot more in the future and the next generations will have to learn continuously, because our world is changing much faster.
@nickfleming37196 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about a family member of yours, then that is a whole different animal. The last person someone will let change their mind about something is a member of their own family. If you're talking about somebody else, then it should be easy since you already know exactly what's important to them and can express ideas in a framework built around that.

I pre-ordered this book on Kindle. I am amazed to see over 153 reviews on amazon already. Not because it is deserving of 5 stars. This is an EPIC book on human psychology, spirituality, self-improvement etc... While I glanced through the chapters, to understand the topics, this is NOT a book you just read. It's a book you live. You incorporate into your life piece by piece. You have to read it slowly because it is the human condition to forget. Just reading it through is a disservice. You must read it slowly. Contemplate each chapter. Because like most things, it is the human condition to forget. It's almost overwhelming if you just read it and hope to bring these things into you life. Having read so much spirituality, psychology, persuasion, books on peak potential, he has incorporated just about all the principles I've been reading and working with for more than 30 years. Honestly, taking a year to read this book and work with the principles might be an appropriate time period to work this material and the rest of your life to hone it. This is well beyond Tony Robbins, STephen Covey, Dale Carnegie, or the stuff that Scott Adams, and Robert Ciadini are putting out, as good as these things are. You'll find some of the principles on Laws of Attitude in more esoteric books. The way he weaves the principles with stories and illustrations is brilliant and will fufill his goal to make these principles accessible. I probably also buy a hard copy although I'm buying most of my purchases books are on kindle now. BRAVO Robert Greene! Simply BRAVO!! This book is an instant classic and will stand the test of time!!

You must understand that Robert to me sounds like one of the most individualistic men of our century. You can tell he has dove further into himself and his mind than most people he comes into contact with. With this inner knowledge comes IMMENSE psychological challenges and problems that most would never even think of. The largest problems in life are never solved, they are simply grown out of. Whatever Robert is going through, we may never know or even if we did know, may never actually understand. Dealing with people who haven't experienced the depths of their own inner humanity can become stressful in communication. Robert seems changed beyond comprehension. You can tell reading his books, that the knowledge within him is almost incomprehensible. As he said, he discarded the first draft of the 50 book because it 'wasn't him'. Writing allows him a one on one journey uninhibited by others myopic remarks or distracting ideas.

@ 25:45 We protect how we feel about ourselves. Melee are masters of reading this, and mirror back the behaviour we expect. This is a real problem for, say women or ethnic minorities who have been raised by or surrounded by people who teach them that they are "less than". Also anyone who has been in an abusive relationship (also contributes to why is so difficult to get out). Trauma or extended mistreatment on anyone can set off a feedback loop that keeps them somehow stuck in a disadvantaged positions. Can be tricky and difficult to break past this. It's also why society that helps everyone improve, also help society. This can be a positive feedback loop for society and individuals alike. This positive feedback also adds stability counteracting little wrinkles of error. "Tipping points" (up or down) are related.

@@user-xedwsg I don't know I've been watching videos about his new book while reading it and I've seen it mentioned a few times. I don't really know the details but I hope he will be okay.

The interviewer made this an incredible interview. I can see why Lewis says his vulnerability and openness changed his life. I could listen to these two talk about this book for hours everyday.

Greene is too pragmatic for Peterson, who is very obtuse and abstract at times. As seen from this video, Greene doesn't have the vocal presence to really dive deep with Peterson. I enjoyed Peterson's book, but Greene's work is on a whole other level of insight and depth. 5 years ago it would have been interesting but Peterson has fallen for the seduction of fame and power and is more pundit/rhetorician than professor right now.

This interview is absolutely amazing. Everything that he said was on cue, but the guy doing the interview asked the most amazing questions and he responded with the the most intense answers imaginable. I can't get over with a great interview I just watched I'll definitely watch this again, maybe even today!
