Just have to say, I recently started my Bachelor in Criminology and Dorothea is one of the examples they use to try and show that appearance isn't a reliable way to identify a criminal, as she appears to just be a sweet old lady. A lot of people used to believe you could identify a criminal based on their appearance, particularly after Cesare Lombroso came out with a theory on what a criminal looks like, or identifiable traits of different types of criminals. Anyway, still cannot believe the horrific things people do and how long it takes to catch some of them!

If I remember right, she kept the bodies in a room and helped them decompse with lye or something else. She wrapped them up while they were decaying and when they were light enough then she buried them. But, you have to remember that when she did this she was posing as a 70 year old, but she was in her 50s. She wasn't feeble. She was pretty strong. But, she didn't take full bodies out. In one of the several documentaries on her I think she even kept one in a tub until the body was light enough.

Law enforcement? They literally have nothing to do with incarceration. They just arrest the perpetrator. It is up to a judge and jury to determine how that person will pay their debt to society. It's absurd to blame one entity for the fault of a whole system.

Yes law enforcement is a huge part of government and all the pieces that put it together make the whole puzzle come together. Police, Courts, and Corrections are all part of law enforcement, and it seems like at times they do not even communicate with one another or civilians that are non law enforcement. Hopefully in the future when someone continues small crimes they can be held accountable to get help to turn around.

@@maryeckel9682I was thinking it was definitely one last photo. Still would be interested to learn who came up with this and what the process of doing this was and where did the bodies go from there? Or how did they get them there? Did they die at home then get thrown in the buggie for a photo shoot somewhere?? Would love for Bailey to cover this

I read a great book about her years ago. It went in depth about how abusive and controlling she was, how manipulating she could be and how social workers tried to uncover her madness. “Disturbed Ground”

I’ve read the details of Dorothea’s crimes online, but your telling of it is SO detailed, and brings the entire horrifying story to life! I feel like you never miss any of the pertinent details, and I so appreciate you for all your hard work and dedication, Bailey!

1:02:13 I loveed this look! I usually gravitate to more golden or neutral eyeshadow but the icy silver with the lip/liner combo looks stunning!! Thank you so much for this MMM!!! Love you Bailey!

Oh she definitely had help, placing old people in guardianships or conservatorships pretty much makes the guardian the person who controls what you eat, wear, think, do, EVERYTHING. She reminds me of Rosamund Pike's character in I Care A Lot, just more evil. I'd actually love if you did a Dark History episode about Guardianships and Conservatorships ♥

For real, the whole thing's so suspicious. And she also kept quiet and never talked about her crimes, what if there were other victims that were unfortunately not found because she didn't confess or something? This case just left so many loose ends and isn't properly solved at all.

As someone from New Orleans it was a story that has always shaken me to my core and I can never find what I feel like is enough background to make me understand the story.
