This song, since the first time I heard it, has been like a prayer for my granddaughter who was in the grip of alcohol and drugs; and praise God she has now been sober for over 2 years and on her way back to herself… because a good man found her and got her out of that desperate situation.

They could honestly release an album of all these acoustic covers of their own songs and it would still be amazing. Love hearing different versions of songs like this

@@katmajic8203 If you wanna try to hear some acoustic music, including covers of other bands' songs, Brandon Flowers has often added a couple songs on his solo tours. They are amazing. For instance, I was blown away when Brandon played this live on his Flamingo tour. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIDClK2ko9Voaac

Wow, you can just feel his spirit and emotion in this song. He's not just singing, he's powering out an anthem. Written very quickly because he didn't need to plan it, think it, etc. It was there in his mind begging for release, and he nailed it, I only wish the terrible experiences in his wife's past that she still lives with every day had to happen for this song to get to us all.
@solomongray63524 ай бұрын
Wow, 4 years ago I wrote this. Fast forward, my depression has gained on me, my energy doesn't hold up fighting it as it used to, I hope I can keep it away, but life is highs and lows, I have many high points right now but there is a big low that's rusting away my defenses.

I LOVED the "full version" of Blowback but coming back to this it's equally good in a different way. I wish this acoustic version could have been included on a deluxe version of the album, but if they ever make a Sawdust 2 I hope this makes it on there like Sams Town acoustic did. I was so excited while waiting for Wonderful Wonderful, since that was the first album they released after I became a fan. It was a magical experience and I'm glad I got to feel that excitement for a new album again! Their music really is something else.
@jacoblyman94414 жыл бұрын
Yeah an acoustic album or a B-sides album with some covers would be great (like Tom Petty's the Waiting or Elton John's Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters which The Killers have covered). Not to mention neither the 2019 or 2020 versions of Land of the Free have managed to find a home on an album yet. Since they are already back in studio recording the next album, I would bet they have a lot of material on the cutting room floor that somehow didn't manage to make it into Imploding the Mirage or Album #7... so the opportunity certainly is there.

I agree with you regarding Queen. The Beatles, however, we could have done without. They are responsible for some of the most lame popsongs ever recorded. The Killers on the other hand is indeed the most gifted band of our era. Snowpatrol is for me the number two.

@@onemanarmyoma0155 what are you on about? the beatles are literally the most influential band in history. without them, so many bands (the killers, oasis, green day etc) would never have even been thought of. the beatles were the reason that i got into music and found all of these other amazing bands, and i’m sure they’ve done that for so many others around the world.

Ya know, I have a handful of singers and songwriters that I gravitate toward. Brandon is one of them. I always imagine that he sees someone that crosses his path that he writes a song like this about. He may not even know the person, but he sees them and he creates a story around them, a sort of “backstory” if you will. It’s touching and heavy. It paints a picture of a life that some of us may never know or even quite understand. It reaches into a place that is deep within most of us that we never even knew existed. It’s such a beautiful thing.
