I really want to see Simon run this army a few more times, make a few adjustments as he sees fits, and get some real practice with a list. I knew the game was over after he missed all the heavy bolter sustained hits, and more importantly didn't use the hellhound first and then smack with the chimeras second. Idk you guys seemed so hype for double, nay triple hellhound; the first one shot last and then got blown up, the second one sat around and toasted 3 infantry and got blown up, not a single unit was "flushed out" of cover, what would the third one have done? Rogal Dorn vs Leman Russ: I sighed when Simon rolled his attacks for Rogal and then started to ask what his ability was, but unlike every other tank, its ability is purely defensive. Look at all the leman russ variants, they all improve damage, if not improve the damage of other units. Any mix of Russ is gonna do more damage with support than Rogals do. It seems Rogals are truly just tanky ass bricks that sit somehwere, have just enough firepower to where you can't ignore it, and its super hard to shift. Otherwise its just not doing damage. It was precisely the single moment he did good damage was after he did fields of fire. Guard has a 5 tier attack: Take Aim, Daring Recon, Flush Them Out, Fields of Fire, Withering Hail. You literally need a 2+ tier Guard support combo to see the damage consistently. Its crazy listening to the post game talk sometimes because you guys, from one game, start making all these hypothetical adjustments to how you'd fix the game when you guys literally played it once. Its hilarious I remember Mordian talking about how all Tau players are cheaters, just to have him shoot X extra missiles because he didn't bother to check the rules for his battle/video. How can we draw any meaningful data from stuff like that? I genuinely want to see Simon confidently run his Guard ya know, use little tactics and synergies like Mordian does, " I do x first so that y is +1/-1 and now I do z, ooo I get a,b,c because I rolled 2 sixes." instead of having Mordian tell him when and when not to use smoke, who to attack etc. I get its all in good favor but the energy of the Battle Rep is impossible to ignore, Simon just deflates while Mordian waffles on about how close the game is. Meanwhile destroyes 6 chimeras and 2 tanks in the first 2 turns... I like a lot of Simon's takes on Guard: like no indirect fire. Its a vibe, I respect it. I not only wanna see him run his list, but PILOT his list ya know.

An observer unit cannot also be guided I think, also i'm pretty sure you can only reroll one wound or hit dice every time you attack with a hammerhead, so no rerolls for the rail cannon and then the seeker in the same shooting.

When running multiple Dorns, you gotta save that CP for Fields of Fire. Especially if your Hellhounds are pasted.

I would even go as far as saying that if Simon got an Exterminator instead of an LR battle tank, it would have been better list-wise. If AP +2 with lethal hits, even the 18 shots of heavy stubber can do some wound against a vehicule

Not sure if it's been mentioned but guard lethals are separate, infantry can only get them against non vehicles, and squadrons only get them against vehicles

Joining the Greater Good isn't betraying the Guard. It's a better life for all involved. the Imperium has betrayed the guard. It treats their soldiers as an expendable sacrifice, rather than the heroes they are.

Dear lord Tau are ridiculous! Played them twice last weekend: list 1, was a Mech Guard, with a Dorn, hellhounds, etc. Tau wiped them. 2nd list had artillery and a Dorn, Asst. Infantry and Leman Russ. Much more competitive. After both games I am not sold on Mech guard or the Dorn. Both really were blown off the board.i am sold on artillery is still very useful. Also with new CP rules, you might as well throw Reinforcements out the window. Using FoF is fairly costly now, and the 1 x Reinforce, just wouldnt have made a difference

Important side note about blanking for the Rogal Dorns armour, the melta damage +2 is not blocked since it is applied after lowering the damage to zero. It's weird but it is how it is intended according to GW.

I took some chance myself last weekend. I should have kept everything as hidden as possible. But I was pretty difficult to do with my crowded board. And you can't just put Infantry out there any more and say "oh well, I'll just bring them back."

As a new guard player. I feel like every army is tougher faster and better at shooting and fighting. I cant work out what makes guard competitive or fun. Most games are over in the first turn. And there is no superiority of numbers every army apart from knights can field nearly the same amount of units and they are substantially tougher. Welp im just hoping we get a codex thats fun and competitive that lasts more than 12 weeks, unlike when i started just before 9th ended. I love the look of them on my shelf but fuck its hard to enjoy playing them.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand playing The T’au Empire. The playstyle is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the meta most of the nuacnes will go over a typical players head. There's also The Farsight enclaves, which is deftly woven into their characterisation - Farsights personal philosophy draws heavily The Greater good, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these rules, to realize that they're not powerful- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike T’au truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the Power of the Kauyon Detchament which itself is a game changer in the late game. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion they take their models off the board. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Sub-Commander Torchstar body pillow. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're a GT 70+ player event 5-0 winner beforehand.
