The band endured until '95. I saw two of their last shows ever in the U.S (Westbury NY) in '95 and they were in top form. Best band ever. While some of their later albums were spotty, you could always find gems.

This song see my friends is absolutely gorgeous and ive never heard it before. Huge kinks fan, not only are they the first proto punk and hard rock bands they are the first to do raga rock and to be jnfluenced by indian classical, then the beatles would famously incorporate these elements.

A bit too much Kool aid my friend. Very spotty albums pre-Something Else, total garbage after Muswell Hillbillies. It's one the to like an artist, or have a favorite artist. Another to be deluded. Nothing even in the same ballpark of artistic quality, impact, influence, of Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper, The White Album, Abbey Road. On top of that, a number of singles only on hits packages (e.g., Day Tripper, Paperback Writer, Rain, Revolution, Old Brown Shoe). Here endeth the lesson.

@@maxschut7093 The kinks influenced whole genres. Fantastic/amazing songs after Muswell imo - Celluloid Heroes, Supersonic Rocket-Ship, Sitting in my hotel, Sweet Lady Genevieve, Artificial Man, Headmaster(one of my fav rock songs ever), life on the road, sleepwalker, life goes on, one the outside, a rock n roll fantasy, permeant waves, in a foreign land, father christmas, catch me now i'm falling, moving pictures, in a space, little bit of emotion, low budget, predictable, destroyer, back to front, better things, a little abuse, art lover, yo-yo, around the dial, add it up, come dancing, property, lost and found, don't forget to dance, do it again, living on a thin line, summers gone, going solo, rock and roll cities, how are you, how do i get close, down all the days, still searching, to the bone. Just my fav, others will prefer different songs but yeah lots of great music was made after muswell.

After years of gazing at the Kinks, there's something in the facial structures of the Davies brothers that is positively cinematic. Big , strong heads, massive manes of thick dark hair, prodigious noses those lads, they would've looked great in a brutal late 60s western or a sword and sandal epic movie, damn, what did we miss?

THE KINKS ~ September 1,1965 TV Cirkus Television Studios Stockholm, Sweden. TV ~ "DROP~IN" lip~synch ~ Set Me Free Wonder Where My Baby Is Tonight See My Friends Quote by RAY DAVIES ~ "I'm ashamed of that song [Set Me Free]. I can stand to hear and even sing most of the songs I've written night after night, but not that one. It's built around pure idiot harmonies that have been used in thousands of songs." Man, I love you Ray, but I respectfully disagree! "Set Me Free" is my all-time favourite "Kinks" song!

What mediocre tripe. Who could not do better. A very mediocre ability group they were. Bar a number of very good songs, which makes them a good average. This is a pretty aggressive post, I really love the works the Beatles, Stones, Bob Dylan and Kinks came out with. The Kinkis came out with a lot of very English songs after their initial performance proto heavy metal songs. “See my friends “ here is a pioneering Indian sounding song with that drone running through it as a precursor to the Beatles and Stones using sitars. The last two songs are competent pop. There were before stuff like Dedicated follower of fashion when they went English
