The book is better than the movie, kinda. I mean the movie and the book still lack depth, a good story line, and character development but overall there’s more room for details like this or explanations. In which I mean it explains things like this. But at her school she has to wear a uniform and because her pants ripped and all her other ones were at the dry cleaners she had nothing else to wear but her 7th or 8th grade skirt uniform.

Mia Sumner The story is based on her book, of course, but the book is pretty generic in creating the setting. It's the movie that makes it clear we are in Los Angeles, especially with the Hollywood sign landmark. Also, the partying on the beach scenes look very LA and that is compliments to the director and the rest of the movie making staff. The house looks fab LA and actually makes the Flynn family look richer than they seem in the book. As you probably know, most of the movie was shot in South Africa. Maybe that is also a part of why "Los Angeles" looks not so much like the real LA.

They did a commentary a few videos back on the Fine Bros' movie called F The Prom (the movie is unbelievably awful) and the main girl had a scene with her parents, played by Richard Karn and Cheri Oteri, and the Pretty Much It guys thought they were nobodies, probably from Parents React or something. I made a comment calling them out because that's freaking AL from Home Improvment. And Pretty Much It replied to my comment, so I know they saw it. And 5:10 is a direct reference to that and when it happened I had to pause the video and get up because damn, it was surreal.
