The first version of pointe shoes were in the 1830s. The modern pointe shoe that we know wasn't around when this movie was set. They got the type of pointe shoe wrong. And I doubt that very many people were dancing in pointe shoes yet in ballet schools. Edit: They didn't even have the style and technique that was accurate to the time period. They were still in the Romantic period.

An interesting thing about The Greatest Showman is that instead of finding their adult actor and then finding a child actor, they actually decided to find Hugh Jackman’s child actor first, and then casted Hugh Jackman because he looked like the child actor. I do NOT like musicals, not even a little bit. But I saw The Greatest Showman, and found myself loving each and every musical number. When I went in, I had no idea it was actually a musical, until the first musical number. I turned to my friend who likes musicals, and said, "What did you bring me to?" Before the song was even half way through, I just had a huge smile on my face. The choreography was equally amazing, something else I never thought I would say. This movie completely won me over.
