@@averageloser533Yeah. When the Nets joined the league after the ABA merger the Knicks f*cked the Nets over pretty bad you can look up the details yourself but the Nets had to pay a bunch of money and were in a pretty bad way because of it for awhile. Enough that they couldn't pay Julius Erving the raise in his salary they promised and had to trade him, infamously the Nets offered his contract and the Knicks refused and took hard cash instead.

@@averageloser533Hm YT deleted my comment but yeah. Back when the Nets joined the NBA after the merger the Knicks bent the Nets over and ruined them for having the audacity to play in the same state basically. You can look up the finer details yourself but essentially Nets had to pay the Knicks a bunch of money owed enough they couldn't afford to pay Dr.J his salary and were forced to relocate.

It is an "overpay," but sometimes you have to do that when you are close to a title. I honestly think it was a good move. If I can only keep one of Randle or OG, I'm trading Randle. Both OG & Mikal are 37-38% career 3P shooters, both have made all-defensive teams, and both are very capable of averaging 16 points per game. Having those two on the same team, I just dont think people are giving the Knicks enough credit. Now if they just let OG walk for nothing, I'm not as big of a fan of this. If they lose iHart, there are several centers in this years draft & they have a pick.

I have been wanting Bridges to the Knicks for a while now. I just never thought the Nets would do it. I think this trade is harsh, but fair. Knicks gave up late first round picks for someone who will work in their system, and didn't hurt their rotation to do it. That's how you gotta build a contender these days. Fuck them picks, and then when it ends, blow up the team for someone else's picks. (It also discourages tanking. :D) They gotta bring back OG to make it work though, since they gave up so much for OG, and they gave up so much for Bridges. If Bridges is just a replacement for OG, that makes it a bad trade, since the benefit is in the synergy of having OG and Bridges. I also think that Randle is expendable now. If they can trade him for a good center, or for cap space so they can resign IHart, then that would be best. Hope Mitchel is healthy next year too, despite Embiid's best efforts.

For the Nets this was the right move they clearly weren’t going anywhere with Bridges as their best player and no one wants to come to Brooklyn in free agency. So it was better that they get some of their picks back from us and start the rebuild. Now did the Knicks give up too much for Bridges. Yes they did but it’s not a bad move on their part because they got a perfect 3 and D versatile wing that fits perfectly next to Burnson. The Knicks are trying to win now so those picks might not be that good in the coming years. They have a shot since besides Boston the Eastern conference is still pretty weak, As for my rockets they are trying to go star hunting I have no interest in KD rather go after Booker. But it’s smart for them to see how the Suns do this season. Because if the Suns are a mess this upcoming season and they get bounced in the first round. Booker and KD could ask out and that’s better for us because those picks become valuable and we can probably make a deal with the Suns in case they want to start a rebuild. What a crazy few minutes and the draft haven’t started yet lol

Honestly as a long time Houston fan. Idc get Durant and butler if it’s possible. Media has ruined people’s perception of Durant. Still top 5 scorer at this age, just have to utilize his talents better as draymond said and udoka seem like the right coach , there were rumors of Boston wanting Durant during udoka’s time as HC. Texas is where kd shaped his identity as a player, I say bring him home. Butler is vocal he can be the leader the enforcer, van vleet is as fine as any PG you can think of, keep sengun and Amen. Houston rockets we are built for tough championship challenge , west is too interesting right now , JOIN THE FRAY !

Draft picks are a crap shoot in this league. No one can depend on a draft pick, but several can produce a good player. It also takes time and hard work, something many aren’t prepared to do. Mikal is an established top player and is going to a place he loves, with teammates he already has a history with. This is a good trade for the Knicks

The knicks are in win now mode. Picks don't do a thing to help you get a ring at least any time soon. I think this actually is a good deal for them especially if they can find a way to keep OG and Ihart. I can't help but think Mitch and Randle could be on the trade block for the right pieces or a least to free up some $$.

Mikal’s been an Ironman which is perfect for Thibs, you’ve picked up an elite 3 & D guy, and the day to day culture is going to be world class. You HAVE to keep OG to make this work. Then it’s an intriguing all in move with some other potential trade pieces in play with Randle and Robinson to round things out. I like this as long as OG comes back to make the Hart-Bridges-OG wing core.

Sounds to me like they weren't that focused on drafting which is why this "HAUL" isn't a big deal for the Knicks. Something to keep in mind

Those are all late round picks. and the Knicks still have 3 draft picks this year alone that will get traded and still have first moving forward. 4 of the picks they gave up are useless, and 2028 is a swap . The draft is called lottery for a reason .The new salary cap 2nd tier makes this a really good trade. The Nets had Harden KD and Kyrie and couldn't win picks wont change disfunction .

As a Knicks fan, I gotta say, I am super skeptical of this move. I think the most important thing the organization could have done was to run it back with the same group. There's now a very likely chance they cannot make it work with either or even both Ihart and Og. I'm not sure who made the call to sell the future for someone who's redundant and in my opinion overall worse than Og, but it's a bad bad sign. When you're a GM you can't make moves like this. They fell into the mistake of making a move based on emotions and hype and not pure basketball, everyone in the league knew they would be looking at this so the nets were able to price gouge mikal and the Knicks got played.

Those picks aren't going to be insanely valuable since at worse the knicks should be a perennial playoff team for the next half decade. Also retaining 3 picks this year and their own picks every other year doesn't look too bad imo. OG's agent is Leon's son so im not worried about him leaving even tho it will be an overpay to keep him. NBA twitter can talk shit but these moves are going to put the Knicks in the conversation as legit contenders this season even if they're still the second best team in this confrence.

Man the Knicks have basically gotten away with tampering. Magic Johnson gets fined for saying Giannis will bring a title to Milwaukee and Leon Rose had a relationship with Brunson being his Godfather, Brunson's Dad being in the organization the players all being friends from playing together in Villanova and Rose's son being an agent? 😂 It's crazy, I ain't mad to clarify I just think the NBA should stop pretending they care about tampering.
