Reginald "Reggie" Kray (24 October 1933 - 1 October 2000) was an English gangster and the twin to his brother Ronnie Kray. Active in the 1960s in London, the twins were the foremost perpetrators of organised crime in the East End of London during the 1950s and 1960s. With their gang, known as "The Firm", the Krays were involved in armed robberies, arson, protection rackets, assaults, and murder.
Ronnie and Reggie are buried with their older brother Charlie Kray.
Their parents Gary Kray and Violet Annie Lee are also buried in a family plot alongside the infamous gangsters.

Hello Kay, there's certainly become good entertainment through the films, but when you think it's based on reality, it's not so nice. It still happens abroad protection rackets... there was a restaurant burnt down in Athens Greece the other day because they didn't pay for the protection but I think it's a lot less in the UK now but I'm not sure. Maybe it still goes on. Thank you for the great comment. Alan

Unfortunately they were murderers and garnered a lot of notoriety. Hi, Anita I totally agree with you the times were tough and good observation. But I think you've got to admit that they could have gone down the routes of normality and lived. Sometimes women see powerful men as attractive which is the basic mentality of the protector of their family. But when it's evil women that follow this kind of man make a terrible choice, a minority. I agree they did have mental problems sad for them also ... Thank you

Hello Alan, and hello folks. If I may, I saw a documentary many years ago, can't really recall much of it but the man who caught the Krays Detective super Leonard "Nipper" Read apparently was in two minds at the time as to whether it was a good or bad thing for the East End of London. On the one hand yes they were criminals etc etc etc but he said during their time the East End was much safer for the old folk and honest ordinary people. Almost no house burglaries or common assaults or "street crime" etc, as the would be small time villains were very wary of the consequences of getting on the wrong side of the Krays. It is a fact they helped a lot of "ordinary locals" and would not see harm done to innocents, but of course their crimes, all of them were dreadful and not to be ignored. Also they were "very fond" of young lads, but no more about that here. Of course on the South side of the Thames the Richardsons were the leading gangsters who "ruled" but little mention of them anywhere. Oh and also the pub, the famous "Blind Beggar everyone thinks it's the pub in the main road but it isn't, it's a small pub down a side street. " Brilliant little post as usual Alan. Take care folks and be kind to each other.
@MotorHomeBeepBeep
@MotorHomeBeepBeep Жыл бұрын
I'll see you a point. Chris, in a way there were policing the area. It's just that they're used hands-on tactics to fire with fire, but sometimes innocent people felt the weight. I guess it wasn't our bad but it wasn't to be allowed. Really is no excuse for murder. Thank you for a brilliant post. Take care, Alan

I know someone who is the relative of a person who was very close to them and according to this person, Ronnie was involved in things that would today have tarnished his name. @@MotorHomeBeepBeep gangsters are all about getting ahead in the quickest way possible, nomatter what the cost. A fast paced lifestyle that usually brings a lot of fortune in the quickest time, but it always ends badly. And usually the family or associates bare the brunt of their involvement, as was the case with Reggie & Ronnie. What gets me is how Ronnie was openly gay at a time when it was not only a punishable crime, but it wasn't seen as a very masculine thing, yet he was still feared and garnered respect. Thanks for another amazing video. They're currently getting me through a turbulent patch!

@@AmaanStorm I'm obviously not an expert on psychology, but I've read a little bit in the past I believe the more dysfunctional the relationships, the more violent. The weakness of the mind produces violence to exist and because it's the smallest circle they have to impress and exist. You are very observant because I never thought about that aspect of Ronnie I think he was emancipated with his sexuality.. the proof of the pudding was in their existence. People were too scared.

Long time no see. Hope you're well. The krays lived a very hectic life good and bad. They were very much in the limelight with celebrities. Think Barbara was either going out or married to one of them. I remember watching a film about their life . A very interesting story Alan really enjoyed it told very well and detailed well done. Lovley seeing you again take care love from Gill Holmfirth West Yorkshire ❤️

Hello Gill nice o see you again. I haven't been on for a while but when but I'll be doing more of them when I can. I think Barbara went out with Ronnie Knight who was also a gangster so she mixed in this circle. I don't think I'd want to if I could have :-) Look after your garden. See you soon. Alan

I had always read that they were not interested in messing with the public and only acted against those that caused them trouble. Basically, if you stayed out of their business, you had nothing to worry about. I am not saying this is true, but have read this several times from different sources. They will always be both famous and infamous.
@MotorHomeBeepBeep

I also read that they were the type of people that have fire with fire and it was their environment and upbringing so I do tend to agree with you it's just that when you look at the biography of some people they come up from these kinds of backgrounds and move away unfortunately they never did.
