Gini, I love how you dive in and give us honest reviews of your creative makes. You see something you like and you are not afraid to experiment all your ideas. I find this method inspirational😊 I guess you know to not use the most expensive fabric in your stash now😊 How many of us have done this✋

I think these turned out great! I really like the pants. The denim will be warm, too. I like that you just keep at it and that you are using patterns you already have. Thanks for the video.

You did great on all the makes even the shirt, it’s darling-especially with the slip layering. Sorry you are not feeling great, I hope you feel better soon! KL umbrella slip, I have has a little bit of a lowered to a point on the sides where the skirt attaches to the bodice. A lot of ease in that area.

Love the jeans! You can distress them pretty easily if you want them to look even closer to the original. I'm not a KL fan. She makes the same things year after year in different fabric with only a couple new designs thrown in. She uses ties because she offers few sizes, none of which are for larger bodies. The strings are there so the size 4 can wear the same garment as a size 10. I'm not saying you have to make sizes 0-30, I'm just saying put some effort into fit and acknowledge people over a size 12. She does find beautiful fabrics tho. The 3rd cami is really nice (I often go up 2 sizes in British patterns) along with the Jalie tank. I've always found that pieces with a skirt section look best when they are either 1-2" above or below your natural waist. I think yours are a bit too long. I've seen the KL style worn by a few people and I thought it was above the waist and didn't fit tight. It also always looked to me like the center front seam was slightly arced but that may have been the pulling from the heaviness of the fabric at the sides. I think the Zandra Rhodes pattern was a rectangle cut with an oval because it's a jacket and it needed a flatter front. The rectangle cut with a circle is better for a top. Did you see Matchy Matchy Sewing's new pants pattern? The Archer Work Pants are interesting and you will never guess what one of the features are....knee darts! I thought of you as soon as I saw it. I'm very tempted to try this pattern but the fact that the inside leg is shorter than it should be makes me wonder why. It's a fit issue and I don't have the energy to re draft a pattern. I hope you feel better soon. Fingers crossed it's not the one that people say hangs on for weeks. I meant to ask earlier but forgot, how's your dad doing?

Hi Charlotte! REALLY good info on the KL designs thank you so much for that. I've never seen her things in person so only have photos to go by. I like the 1-2" rule for the waistline on these dresses I think I'll implement that in the future. I saw the Archer pants but didn't realize they had a knee dart!! I did see the wonky hem 😂which is why I didn't buy it either.

I also tried to make the Krista Larson over tunic. I used the top part of TG Sugar Slip and just added rectangles on the bottom. Will definitely use the.circle skirt next time. Love all of your pieces!!!

This is great inspiration. Some of the things you make are beyond my sewing skills but I think I could manage these. I especially like the cami slip dress and the jeans. I do wear jeans but I dont like traditional ones. The idea of making a pair withdrawstring or elastic sounds just right to me. Also, i could use a light weight denim which also appeals to me.

I looked up the slip and the shirt. I think the shirt is her “croissant “ shirt, and has a bunch of the horizontal pleats where she appears to tuck up an amount of fabric and stitch it to form a horizontal pleat. I also looked up her slip and I think she sewed together the handkerchief sides part or all the way down, which makes the points a little shorter. I’d like to try stitching together the sides to see if I could achieve her look. P.S. This is an add on comment to my previous one, I went back and viewed your photos and then looked them up to see more views. Thank you again this was so fun to watch🤗.

Hope you're feeling 100% soon! I too would be EXTREMELY chuffed if I made such a great pair of drawstring jeans-they look amazing! I too think tencel 'jeans' would be a great option. The Japants I made following your tutorial are in denim looking Tencel and the drape is amazing and there's minimal bulk at the waist because of the excellent drape. Also Tencel might be cooler for the summer? For your shirt did you see the Elbe Textiles Cornell Shirt? It has a stand up collar and a loose fit that the side ties could rein in.

Hi Gini! 🤗 It would be worth having a look at The Assembly Line’s Cap Sleeve Shirt pattern for that shirt dress you showed. The TAL pattern has a short sleeve and a regular shirt length, but you could easily adapt it to make both longer. I think it has a very similar style aesthetic to the image you showed.

Gini you funny woman 😂 you may be feeling poorly but your sense of humour is still on form 😂. OF COURSE you used your best fabric for a toile and why would you expect success on subsequent makes cos your first project turned out so well? 🤭 Those pants DID turn out well, you nailed it. And you nailed the fit. I liked your table cloth slip best and I liked your shirt. I think you did pretty well recreating those looks. You asked for pattern recommendations that you could use as starting points and I immediately thought of a Big 4 pattern I'd seen recently. I went looking for it and found it, would Butterick 6897 be any good for the shirt? While I was looking for that I found Vogue 1875... maybe?? Anyway, I hope you are feeling better by now. See you next week.

Thank you so much Gini❤. You were a real trooper to do all this when you were sick! I hope you are feeling much better😘. I love the jeans, I think they are spot on. I agree with one other comment that a Tencel denim would hang very nicely. I agree with you on the slip dress also. The last slip top was my favorite, and definitely the circle skirt. Do you have an actual pattern for the circle skirt, or did you draft it yourself? I would like to know how to make one, I really like the way it drapes. I thought your shirt was very close to hers, I thought hers had a wide skirt with the square bottom? I will watch it again😊. This was so much fun and it really helped to see how you kept trying with the slip until you got it. Do you think any of TG’s pants patterns could be made like yours? Or even the “basic Lagenlook “ pattern you suggested. How much ease did you have around the hips? I really like those jeans you made, the narrower leg and longer length look so great. You are just amazing, and very inspiring 🤗.

Hi Judith! So many of you have suggested tencel denim and you're so right! I'm on the hunt for some now so I can make these again! not sure about the TG pants as I think they will have too much ease. I think these only have about 5-6 inches of ease in the hip. Although, now I think about it, any of the TG pants would work in a lighter drapier fabric like tencel! KL has another pant I really liked (safari pants: kristalarson.com/product/safari-pant-20/) I thought I could use the plinka pattern for. Just lengthen them leave off the ruffles and pleats and put in a drawstring... Oh great now I have to go make them just to see how they turn out 😂. The circle skirt I drafted myself but you can find tutorials here on KZbin to make one. It's really easy, you really just need your hip measurement and the length. Plus you can add it to a ton of different tops!!🤗

I think I would like to see the top be just up under bust or empire length and then the skirt either circle or rectangle I am not as much for the longer length of top as I like to try and hide my tummy. I might try a variation of this for a tunicupcycled
