Simon was a member of DMTN (formerly Dalmatian). He’s half Japanese and half Korean. When he left the idol world, he got into producing and this group became his pet project. He’s been nurturing the growth and development of XG for over five years. He clearly knows what the industry wants and because of his connections in Korea he’s using that to his advantage. He knows the business well and clearly what he’s doing is working.

I love how you mention how he’s taking advantage of his connections in Korea. I love how XG is an all girl Japanese group that identifies themselves as a global group. It’s refreshing and almost freeing. The Asian representation and breaking of boundaries in that technicality is so nice to witness and as an Asian American, can’t help but feel really proud on how they can be considered in the same field as other western artists because of their wider scale aim.

I'm old skool and XG is my ride or die. The talent & charisma these young queens have is just insane. And their sisterhood is so genuine. "Left Right" has been charting #35 on the U.S. Pop Charts for the last 3 weeks. Shooting Star & Left Right are both 10/10 could be SOTY contenders. You still need to really check out XG's now legendary rap xypher that blew up and went viral "XG TAPE #2 GALZ XYPHER (COCONA, MAYA, HARVEY, JURIN)" that is going to blow you mind. Left right is what sold me on XG. I remember them debuting and also listening to mascara … but left right just hit right, spot on. Just took a second on first listen, even after shooting star and I knew that’s gonna be it! But I’m also really vibing with shooting star. This comeback is just wow! XG has captured my heart and attention in a way that NO GROUP HAS (regardless of genre) since, well to be honest, since BLACKPINK debuted. Everything about Shooting Star and Left Right are perfect! Listening to k-pop was also my form of therapy for my mental health, been suffering deep anxiety for years now, k- pop seems to be my happy pill for that mental issue, Keep it up with your channel, not much help but just to like this video and finally subscribe to your channel as well as my sort of contribution somehow. Such an incredible stylistic homage to 90's/early 2000s pop R&B. There's a shot near the end of the video, a star pattern set shot from above, that's 100% Damaged by Danity Kane. Idk what it was about it, maybe it was the R&B, but this song felt thematically like the antithesis to Red Velvet's Bad Boy. If Bad Boy was a person's first experience in falling in love and enticing others to have significant relationships, Left Right felt like that same metaphorical person matured and is figuring out life.

I keep hearing people placing XG and New Jeans in a similar category because of the R&B/Y2K feel of their latest songs. I can hear the R&B influence in both groups, but it is hitting really hard with Left Right. And the lyrics and the story line is a far more mature theme when it talks about the kind of relationship being described. This is straight out 'Let's get it on' territory. XG is an older group by age so none of their songs reflect the high school, young love feel from New Jeans despite three of XG members being under 18 years old when they debuted.

i've been loving the directors they got for their mv's too!! it suits their style and these directors just know how to make the group pop and highlight choreos and the members correctly, if in shooting star they worked with Rigend Film, for this MV they worked with Jinooya Makes!! (worked for NCT U's Make A Wish and 127's 2 Baddies, they have that specific art style, with the lights/flashes, match cuts, frames using shapes)
