​@@-toriizaka46 I said it as the genre. K-Pop is based on Hip-hop/RnB but already kinda become a music genre due the way they built & compose the song, except XG did the songs in full english. Basically they using k-Pop style & genre as the main vehicle. J-Pop is completely different genre & style in music. Try to listen J-Pop & K-Pop alternately, and you will see, the differences. Even they are based on Pop Music, the way they compose music is totaly different. But if we talked about the member nationality or the company, then your agrument is right, as they all infact are japanese based. But again, what i mean as a genre, so it's still fit in the bill. And historicaly wise, BoA was do same thing like XG back in the day, as she does debut & promote heavenly in Japan using J-Pop as the genre, while she is a Korean. BoA did it as J-Pop are globaly more widely know back then. It's the same thing for now, K-Pop genre is rising globally, and it's an easy decision for the label debut a J-idol under K-Pop genre for nowadays. Now, if we want correctly term them, that mean XG is a J-Idols, but their music genre is K-Pop with Full English lyric. Also a fun fact: Avex as the company is a big company in music industry and many K-Idol debut in japan under them. This relationship is the reason why XG is able do showcase & comeback in many Korean Music Show. BoA paved the way for many K-Idol to enter japanese market, and I can say XG did the same way, hopefully allowing many J-Idols enter Korean Market, which allow global expansion at the end.

for real! some crazy kpop fans called them things like, "ugly potatoes," "eww i hate you go back to japan," "i hope you fail and die" and other things in their live performances and forums (theqoo). when they performed on the music shows in KR, the fans of other groups bought all their tickets, so their real fans weren't there to cheer them on. when it was their turn to perform, they barely had any cheers :( i really feel bad for them.

I ain't worried about Knets, XG ain't for them. XG's target is GLOBAL and singing primarily in English is pretty much self explanatory. XG's purpose is to fill that R&B/HipHop girl group void that's been in existence for quite some time now since the 90s and early 2000s, hence why you're seeing so many reactions from across the globe.

It’s very unique in terms of style, theme and how well its presented in their outfits and lyrics. XG always have such wholesome lyrics that actually makes sense. I realise they tend to have encouraging lyrics rather than just ‘I am so bad, everyone look at me’ sort of thing. They use the Y2K aesthetic very well and I like how the stylist dresses them as individuals but also collectively. They all shine separately but work very cohesively together. Not hating but I have seen New Jeans fashion and I wonder what the stylist is thinking sometimes. XG team have managed to embody 2000 style but modernise it as well. I feel like the big 3 (namely YG) has become too complacent and reliant on trends with no substance. Lyrics with no meaning, substandard choreographs. You can do something very trendy with a message. That’s another thing that makes XG unique. Also every member can sing, dance and (possibly rap) which is rare in a GG in kpop. Plus they are all visuals.

PD you should definitely check out XG's LEFT RIGHT B-side! They've got a performance video of it, and it's honestly my favourite track from them so far. For anyone who likes late 90s/early 00s R&B, that song would be right up your alley. I love how good their English lyrics are for all of their releases, you can tell that they've got somebody fluent writing for them, and their pronunciation is really great too. They gave us Japanese Y2K aesthetics for this MV, which matches really well with both of their songs this comeback. I used to only stan two groups, MONSTA X and TWICE, but XG is now officially the third group that I'm following. I love their music and these girls are super talented, plus I think being a Japanese group that is aiming for the international audience gives them a different flavour. Jurin and Chisa really caught my eye in particular! Edit: PD THEY DROPPED A MV FOR LEFT RIGHT PLEASE CHECK IT OUT!!

MV production for Shooting Star was indeed NUTs right out the gates. Don't forget, XG is an all Japanese Girl Group backed by a Japanese company, though they've been slipping into the Korean promos and songs are all in English. Fans have gone crazy offensive and defensive of labeling XG as Kpop or Jpop, but really they're considered a "Global" group, per se; but they've seemed to lighten up and be more accepting this comeback.... btw, this is their 2nd comeback, meaning you're caught up with their main content. After Mascara, all members had amazing cover content...but now all you have to check out is their very first, and phenomenal, B-side track "Left Right"; then you'll truly be caught up with XG. Going back to their Japanese roots, notice throughout the video the many Japanese Cultural references like the Hello Kitty shirt Chisa was sportin', and in the choreo, almost like the Kamenrider and Super Sentai (Power Rangers) poses in their group ups, especially during the bridge of the song. Thank You PD씨, and I'm lovin' the new studio and lighting!

It's so sad the Korea is being extremely Xenophobiuc to them at music shows. I really appreciate the few Korean ALPHAZ supporting them and cheering even though the shows purposely mute them edit: To explain. a lot of xenophobic Knetz have been buying out tickets and purposefully not cheering at music shows so when they perform you barely hear cheers and the few cheers you hear are from K ALPHAZ who managed to get tickets. The cruel knetz are leaving racist, xenophobic and hate comments about XG. one of the music shows purposelly messed up their mic feed and muted the few people who were cheering so when you watch their live stage it sounds like no one is cheering Edit 2: as of Feb 7th 2023 There has been more cheers, fanchants from K ALPHAZ and J ALPHAZ who flew in to support the girls!

I haven’t been this excited for a GIRL GROUP since 2ne1 and so they exceeded my expectations all the way. The ANIME and KAWAII style included in the SONG. YES 🙌🏽 the R&B and HIP HOP did it for me. I can't pick a bias, I'm literally going after their voices, yet I still can't pick a favor, however Cocona is insane with her stage presence and acting. Like she's intimidating and I'm pretty sure she's the maknae. I also love the dance and editing style. Not the biggest fan of the weird flower rainbow scene, since they do look a little weird styling wise. But this is the first song of theirs where I liked the entire song as a whole, so definitely my favorite song of their's. Edit: I know the rapline has made some sort of "rap-cover", and that one I would definitely recommend.

I was one of those that preferred Tippy toes over Mascara because of the hip hop rnb vibes. I've become a HUGE XG fan after this comeback. I don't even stan groups since I'm a casual listener of pretty much everyone in kpop, but XG..they truly made me obsessed with them! They're beyond talented. Also I know they're a Japanese group, but still. I don't really listen to anyone outside kpop, and the way their music and visuals captivate me is incredible 😩 Ps. My mind was fully blown when I watched this MV!! I love how the colourfulness/sweet scenes are integrated with the hiphop feeling (the black background and the icy scenes). You start with the hiphop lines and the black and icy scenes (Jurin). Then, while still rapping, the scene changes into a colourful one with rainbows (Harvey). After that it completely changes into the R&B sound in the chorus, and when Maya starts rapping, for a bit the scene still looks colourful until it changes back into the black background. At last, the chorus comes again but this time it's the R&B chorus in the icy set! I know this is pretty obvious, but the switch ups in R&B and hiphop in both the song AND the MV of R&B are simply incredible!
