I love this video. First you're a great presenter. Driving and talking seems to be difficult to many people, let alone talk so much without hesitation. And your story is intresting too! Then the car. The Countach is one of the most iconic cars in the world. The turbos, exhaust-notes, paddle shifting, it all makes it sound horrible on modern cars, but this one sound incredible! Unfortunately they don't make them anymore like that. Oh and please don't excuse yourself so much about the traffic. To me those roads are completely deserted, and that few cars/trucks, just overtake them on a clear piece of road despite the yellow line. Also great you just drive it instead of creating it into a piece of art for in a museum or something. Drive it, that's what cars are for! Great video Matt!

Beautiful! Having driven a 1987 countach lp5000s for over 5,000kms I can tell you it is the best driving experience and I’m saying this having been lucky to have driven all different 911s and turbos, testarossa, 308/348/355/430/458 diablo murcielago etc etc. To someone that hasn’t spent much time with exotics, they might not have the experience with them to appreciate a countach in all its glory and find it to have a heavy clutch, bad visitibilty etc. But to the experienced enthusiast, the Countach is in a different league. Countach is king for a raw visceral unadulterated (no nanny gadgets) spectacular experience which is paralleled by none.

"Pre-Nurburgring" There's a phrase that denotes a real enthusiast. So often fast track cars with amazing roadholding make lousy drivers cars on the road and vice versa. Even Colin Chapman's mantra for road cars was softly sprung and firmly damped and there was a man that knew a thing or two about handling. Top vid and top guy too!

I've bought and owned probably over 50 cars in my lifetime. One thing I know, is if a car sits, it rots. The act of using it keep it alive, and the love a person can give it keep it young. The mileage count seems to still have such an impact on the value of a car, but it's really the dispersion of the miles that matters. A car that has been sitting for 2 years will have issues, even if it was a low mileage car. But a high mileage car will have less issues when taken car of and driven while respected.

Great video! Thank you! I tell you what, I would much rather have a car with a 6-speed manual and a 0 - 60 time around the 5-second range than a car with a DCT and paddle shifters and a 0 - 60 time in the 4-second range. For me, the actual joy of driving and engaging with a car with a proper 3 peddle manual trumps a car with a DCT no matter how fast it is. That is why cars like this Countach and even the handful of cars with great manuals on the market right now will always be sought after. Electric cars have proven you can have insane or even "ludicrous" acceleration but lose the soul of driving.

@@joro2 See I don't feel like Matt was trying to sell this car to the uber rich and drive up the prices. I felt like what he was preaching about the Countach is that its an actual usable and fun car to drive. He was trying to bust the myth that these cars are fragile, finicky, always break down and are horrible to drive. He kind of proves his point in that he drives his hard and hasn't had any issues. I was obsessed with this car, growing up in the '80s. I had a white Hotwheels that I painted black, had a color changing one that turned from white to pink (because '80s), drew one in profile and made about a zillion copies at my dad's office and framed the original. At one point, I thought I would one day work in an office building shaped like a giant Countach. And what's more, I don't think this was an atypical experience. The car just had that effect on people. That said, my big takeaway from this OneTake, other than the fact that the Countach is a better GT than I had been lead to believe, is that the engine and driveline appear to have a colossal amount of mechanical drag. It sounds like it's working so hard just to move, but it's not really moving all that quickly--or as the video would appear. I've driven a few big motor, high torque, low power cars from that era that make a lot of bark, but struggle to get out of their own way. This reminds me of that. My favorite of them all is the Countach LP 500 Prototype, which lacks all the flares, wings, and scoops (which were, ironically, what got my attention as a kid).

Especially if the car is begging you to take it out a lot and rev it up. I recently started driving my car a bit harder, nothing crazy but ive just been babying it a bit since it is new to me. @@04dram04 I have no nostalgia for the 90's video games because I was too young to enjoy them back then. The best driving physics of any Need for Speed game were in NFS: Porsche Unleashed where they captured the widow-making nature of the older 911's perfectly. I also enjoy a lot of flight sims and space sims from the 90's because they offer a unique experience. Flight sims nowadays are either way more arcady or realistic and there's nothing in the middle. They also lack a proper single player campaign. Space sims only got worse. The standards for flight model and controls set by devs in the 90's are ignored these days. It's like those games didn't even exist.
