The Lamborghini Gallardo Is The Spiritual Successor To The Countach That Nobody Noticed

The Lamborghini Countach and the Lamborghini Gallardo both share a special history yet there is a fundamental problem. The Countach has gone down in history as the car that defined a generation. While the Pre LP Lamborghini Gallardo defined the future of Lamborghini in the early 2000s it is revered as a piece of amazing automotive history that it should rightfully be called. In this video, I show you why the Pre LP Lamborghini Gallardo from 2004-2008 gets such a bad wrap and why I think it is the spiritual and design successor to the original LP 400 Countach.

Great video and I agree with your assessment that the Gallardo has big styling influences from the Countach. I still think the Final Edition Gallardo is the best looking though!

Crusing Geek, your final edition is a beautiful piece of art, no doubt about that. I think what is so wonderful about Lamborghini is how the cars are around for such a long time that they undergo such dramatic changes and revisions to the same platform. In the end, you have the final edition that fits your personality and what you want out of a Lamborghini perfectly and I have the pre-LP that fits mine. But they both share that same DNA that makes Lamborghini what it is.

PilotGirl, that would have been a wonderful thing to see on the LP for sure. The Spyder has some louvers on the LP engine cover so I guess some of the legacy snuck through. Hehe

A very good video regarding design similarities and what will probably happen soon in terms of value and the Gallardo being a collectable. But one thing, Please don't ring the church bells quite yet! I'm still looking for a pre-LP Gallardo! I'm seeing prices coming down somewhat, so I am ready to strike when the right car comes along. But wait till I get one! Okay, carry on! lol

The Pre-LP GALLARDO has virtually the same front end as the MURCIÉLAGO. I'm always amazed that an older car with only 2 more cylinders brings 3 time the price. The GALLARDO is a bargain by comparison. You are right Richard, "understated" is the best description. Yet, my Spyder still gets more attention than my Ferrari 360 Spider, in itself a classic departure from the prior 3*8 series cars. Simple designs age well.

I agree with your design assessment Richard wholeheartedly, also, if you look at the Countach rear engine bonnet design next to the Gallardo, its identical to each other! I have not and will not change my 07 exterior ever, it's what drew me to it and still makes me smile every time I walk in the garage, timeless as you said! Cheers bro
@TheBullRider
@TheBullRider Жыл бұрын
Craig, you are totally right about the rear engine bonnet design! I wish I brought it up in this video. If you can walk into the garage years on end and feel like a 5 year old every time you look at it, the car is perfect just the way it is.

The Countach was my first love. It wasn't until later I learned what it took to live with one. Frankly, the Gallardo, for me, is not as esthetic as the Countach. That said, from inside the cabin the Pre-LP makes me smile more than any Countach could - what a soundtrack!
@TheBullRider
@TheBullRider Жыл бұрын
Tanel, the Countach is super easy to work on. All you need to a shop crane and 5 mechanics to pull the engine out vertically to change out the clutch. It's not THAT big of a deal LOL. In all seriousness, yes I completely agree. The Gallardo is the more mature grandson but still retains that original Lamborghini passion and spirit that the Countach had 30 years prior.

@@TheBullRider Reminds me of an old joke. "I just bought an Alfa. My mechanic says it drives great". On a serious note, I have an invoice from the first owner where the service center billed him hourly for driving the car, along with 60L of fuel. Can't do a post-wheel alignment check with any less. What a terrible job to have. 😁

Cannot agree more. The Gallarado No matter the pre LP or not is a wonderful car. I have the spyder over 10 years and as long as you drive the car just exactly like the manual shift one, then the e-gear actually is a gem and give you the very raw mechanical feel which the model supercar may lack of..... The body design is classic and very smooth outlook. WIth the v10 engine sure the value will go up in the future. Sometime not just compare how fast the car can go but it should be the total experience which speaks. Anyone who has one and takes her to go through tunnel will know what I mean. ^^
@TheBullRider
@TheBullRider Жыл бұрын
William, the e gear is this hidden gem of a wonderful transmission. You understand it! It has to be treated in a certain way and it rewards you for driving it well. The brutal shifts, the sounds, the mechanical nature of the platform is what makes this car what it is. If all we wanted was to go 0.002543631 seconds faster 0-60 we could easily buy a different car for the same price or less, but then again we would get bored. We wouldn't want to hop into the drivers seat at 5 AM to find the next empty road or long tunnel to hear the 5.0 motor scream to 8000 rpm. That is the essence of Lamborghini, nothing more.

Hi Richard! Great video with thoughtful insight into the design similarities of the early Countach to the Gallardo. Perhaps the Gallardo is the last of the classic designs, with the Aventador and Huracan being cars of the "modern" design era? I even noticed a similarity between the Diablo and the Murcielago, with the Diablo having a few styling cues that are completely unique to it.
@TheBullRider
@TheBullRider Жыл бұрын
Richard, I would agree with that. I think both the Anventador and Huracan were such gigantic leaps forward for the company from both a design and engineering perspective. The Aventador most notably I would argue is the most important car that Lamborghini has made in the last 50 years. Maybe a topic for a future video :). I think what is so special about every Lamborghini is that they are all uniquely designed with their own special touches but they all share the same DNA, the same soul and spirit that makes them all so special in their own way. The Diablo is definitely growing on me, I didn't like it much before but my perspective is changing and I can look at it as a wonderful continuance of the Legacy of Lamborghini V12 cars with its own special story.
