I really loved Kirby's Dream Land 3 as a teenager in the late 1990s. It's one of the rarest cars on the SNES. And it did not get a PAL release. I still have my copy of the game with my 100% save file from 1999!

Super Famicom was released in November 1990. The last game was released in November 2000. A 10 year lifespan is pretty impressive.

I especially like the fact you included other regions. I had no idea a Super Famicom game was released in the 2000's. Very interesting video! Hopefully there will a similar one for other systems.👍🏾

I remember reading about some of these in Nintendo Power, and even as a kid, I was baffled by some of these choices. Like, wtf is Frogger or Arkanoid doing being one of the last releases for the console? lol. This is a fascinating topic to cover though! Looking forward to seeing what more "Last 5's" you're going to do in the future. I mean, the MegaGen seems like a shoe-in, as is the NES or Master System, etc. but you show off a lot of arcade games on this channel so maybe you can focus on specific boards too? The last releases for the Neo Geo/Neo Geo CD/or Hyper Neo Geo 64 (actually, that one might ONLY have 5 games...), the Capcom CPS3 board, the Midway Vegas, the Sega Naomi, etc.?

The last NES release for any region was the Lion King for NES which was PAL only and now I realise that the last release for the SNES in PAL regions was also a Lion King game.
@MoonSarito2 жыл бұрын
It's amazing to imagine that the SNES has lasted this long, even after the release of the Nintendo 64 it still received a few games, hopefully the Nintendo Switch will also follow suit. You forgot to mention some titles in the video like Super Bomberman 5 and Rockman and Forte (Megaman and Bass), which was released for the SNES in 1998 in Japan, well after its PS1 and Sega Saturn counterparts.

I always look forward to a system's end. There's usually a couple of games that will become coveted hidden gems in the future. I've been able to snag quite a few games I love owning because of my unwillingness to give up on a system just because something newer came along.

In Europe (where the Mega Drive was far more popular) they seemed to stop releasing new first party stuff after 1996. That's why Kirby's Dream Land 3 was never released in Europe, along with Super Mario RPG. You could get a SNES for £92 in 1997. I got that with Super Mario All-Stars + World as the pack-in gamepak for Christmas that year, bought Yoshi's Island and Super Mario Kart soon after... and everything I got for it after that was second hand. You could no longer buy them new. America stopped new releases after 1998, and I didn't know Japan continued until 2000.

Nop.

It's crazy to me that so many of those games are remakes of very old and/or very basic games. Arkanoid, Frogger, picross and puzzle games, Columns as well to a lesser extent. Seems like backward thinking to me marketing wise. Like "Let's wait until we really know how to optomize the hardware before releasing games that require no horse power whatsoever". Quite funny
