There was an option, it was all about ending the cycle of violence that plagued the entire cast all game, Ellie wouldn't have gained anything from killing Abby just like Abby didn't gain anything from killing Joel, and throughout the game the more people she brutally kills the more she feels bad, it was a masterful ending when you really look into it

There was no doubt in me that there will be a part 3 ... Ellie’s story about being infected needs closure , I mean isn’t that the whole reason for the intial part of this story anyway ?! Most stories come in 3s. I look at part 2 as somewhat like the empire strikes back of this story. I personally liked 2 more than 1. I thought it opened up this world a lot more and showed a lot of abstract elements to life in this world. I would like if you touched on the significance of the moth symbol in relation to the fireflies ... moths are attracted to light.

A very interesting detail I heard pointed out in a podcast about TLoU P2 is that throughout the game we often see Ellie's hand shake due to the stress and trauma she's going through. But in the end, when we see Ellie arrive at the Farm for the final scene, her hands are still. Neil admitted that it wasn't planned, however, finds it fortunate that the scene landed that way. So make what you want of it. I personally think the ending is actually not that depressing and, I would say, even hopeful.

No, it’s truly not, it made Ellie move on and give on a story of another character in this world, and I honestly don’t think Abby is a bad character, the only kink I have with her is she killed Joel, but other then that I understand why she did it even thought I’m mad that she did it in the first place, but she is a really developed character with how she was, what Mel says “a peace of shit” after her dad died and till she started taking care of lev, she didn’t have much of a purpose to keep on living till she did, and Ellie was losing purpose to live herself cause Joel was gone, and she couldn’t continue to until she finished off Abby, but that flashback while she was drown Abby in a way, her saving grass, also g with dina and jj, so yeah, I don’t think that the ending and Abby in general are bad, and I know, different opinions, but it’s also making a bit of a point

That doesnt mean the first game's ending sucks either. to the people that thought abby should've been killed at the end so that she doesnt get away with it you should also see that abby lost more than ellie, theres alot of hints and evidence that ellie and dina are together at the end of the game and that ellie just came back for closure (dina's bracelet) all abby has left is lev. If ellie killed abby at the end then she would've done the exact same thing abby did to her, ruining lev's life all for revenge. Also killing abby would not have made ellie feel any better and would worsen her already broken mental state. Joel would not want this for ellie.

But there should be part 3. Because for me, #1 Ellie wants her immunity to mean something, she might give her immunity to finally make a vaccine she ever wanted. #2 we saw how Tommy went back where Dina and Ellie live and trying to convince Ellie to finish what they started as they revenge. So Tommy really wants to kill Abby and this might trigger to Ellie once again and changes her mind to finally kill Abby at the end of the part 3. These are my hints for part 3 if there is really part 3, because for me. I’m not gonna be so happy if naughty dog never finished the well good ending, specially in people’s sight.

Sparing Abby and the reasoning behind it reminds me of a scene in the Denzel Washington film "Unstoppable" with the runaway train. As he's about to risk his own life to stop that train, even though he's been fired and is working his last few weeks, the CEO asks him by radio why he'd "do this for us?" He says. "Not for you. I'm not doing it for you." That's how I feel with the idea of being okay with Ellie sparing Abby. She's not doing it to save Abby; it's not for her, and she's not worth stopping for on her own. She's doing it to save Ellie. She was right and wrong about Joel when she said he'd be halfway to Seattle if it were her or Tommy - right, because he would; wrong, by thinking it was what he'd want for her. Joel was an old man with a lot of red in the ledger and would have very little left if Ellie especially were killed. Joel would have been the one to tell Ellie that he isn't worth what it would cost Ellie to go for revenge. And she had already spent most of her heart on getting to Abby, traded almost everything she was... but there was a bit left to save.

I think ellie knows where dina is because she wasn't surprised when she came back to home. If you ask me what happened ı can tell this : Ellie visited dina and she took the wristlet that dina gave ellie before . She wanted to see joel s guitar (or home as well ) and she wanted to end her pain ( as you guess she didn't end her all pain , just a little of it ) and as you see at the ending scene ellie dropped joel s guitar and she walked away , ı think she 's going find fireflies and she ' ll ask fireflies to find a cure

Imo the ending was odd to say. The revenge is not the way idea for the story was out of place especially when the world is in a zombie apocalypse where people get killed for no reason. Abby should've died right there. I think Dina leaving still made sense but leaving Ellie with nothing and Abby getting away is not the way to go
@cristianfaiella13974 жыл бұрын
I understand that you don't like the end because Ellie let Abby go but killing her when she was broken wasn't the way to go neither. I didn't like Abby as much as Ellie but I didn't want Ellie to take revenge in that way. And the whole story wasn't about revenge. It was about forgiveness. Killing Abby would have completed the cycle of revenge but that would have cost Ellie humanity, so she let her go and moved on with her life.

I think there will be another time jump and Ellie in her mid-twenties will have heard of the reformed Fireflies and their continued effort to find a cure. In the end, Ellie will finally volunteer for the surgery closing that arc. Abby will have become a doctor like her father and be on the team that performs the surgery. I’m going to be honest. Imo the ending is better than just killing Abby. If Ellie killed Abby I would have hated to see the following game have Lev go on a revenge mission. I also think the ending gives hope for Ellie, Abby, and Lev. I think the ending is similar to the first game as in the ending left people questioning if the character made the right choice. Also I think if Abby did die a lot of people would be upset like Kinda Funny Games, Girlfriend Reviews, Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye, or Tajae. Also after looking at the comments I think People wanted Abby to die but it’s not about what the player wants it’s about what’s best for Ellie and the story moving forward. Just my thoughts.

This game doesent deserve to be called a Masterpiece or get a 10/10. Out of the simple fact how Naughty dog lied in the adverts to get the fans to buy the game. And dont give me that bs about "protecting the story". It was a delibrate lie. Studios like naughty dog that treat theire staff like slaves, sack and bully everyone who dares to speak theire mind about it, threaten lively hoods of youtubers just because they mentioned that the leaks exists, should be exposed to the public. No footage was shown to justify the DMCA strikes. If you act like that, then your clearly hiding something. I for one, will not finance people and companys who behave like that. Its pure and utter disgusting. And everyone should keep that in mind in the future.

By the time I got to the end, I didn’t want to kill Abby. Seeing her literally a shell of herself and carrying Lev, I was done. And to see Ellie also at rock bottom bleeding out and sticking a knife at the throat of an unconscious kid, that’s not the Ellie I’ve seen in the past and I doubt that’s what Joel would want. When we see Abbys POV when she kills Joel, you can see on her face that torturing Joel isn’t giving her the cathartic feeling that she had expected/wanted. She even hesitates before the final blow. Unfortunately for Joel, and us fans, she goes one way thinking it will help but we find out later that killing Joel didn’t bring Abby peace of mind. By the end, Ellie is in that same situation and she chooses to go the other way. I really think not killing Abby was the way to go. Killing her would have done nothing to bring her peace. Ellie is literally letting go of her obsession/hate and regains a little piece of her humanity and who she was before. And I know people will bring up that Ellie kills tons of people and if it was reversed, Joel wouldn’t hesitate to kill Abby but that’s another point. Ellie isn’t Joel! In fact, when she tries, she’s not good at it and it mentally breaks her even more. There’s a slight difference between killing in self defense and torturing someone for information (like Nora) and evening threatening to kill someone else if you don’t give them what you want (like Lev).

The ending was perfect for the story Naughty dog was trying to tell, had they went with the original ending that would have sucked because that would have shown that Ellie didn’t learn anything, I knew from about Ellie’s second day that she wasn’t going to kill Abby because you could start to see what Naughty dog was going for, it’s all about Ellie’s redemption... just like the first game was all about Joel’s redemption for the things he did in the 20 years after Sarah died, I think the real controversy is how many gamers out there are blood thirsty, if you still want Abby dead after killing Joel even though she was just doing with Ellie did, getting revenge for her fathers death & seeing that it didn’t help Abby at all... then I think you really need to question your own personal values & ask yourself “what’s wrong with me”

My idea / prediction for _The Last of Us Part III_ : The main themes of Part III would be *hope* and *redemption* with Lev being the central protagonist. Assuming that they do find what is left of the Fireflies on Santa Catalina Island, Abby and Lev are given the mission to find Ellie and bring her back to the Fireflies so they could finally create a cure. Abby is initially reluctant to do so due to PTSD over her torture at the hands of the Rattlers and her last fight with Ellie, but Lev is able to convince her that they must so they do could something worthwhile in their lives. However, along the way they are ambushed by both Infected and Hunters during which Abby gets bitten or mortally wounded. In one last act of redemption, Abby heroically sacrifices herself and goes down fighting so that Lev could escape. With Abby gone, Lev is left to continue their mission alone. Meanwhile, Ellie is wandering the country searching for Dina and JJ. Along the way, she encounters and rescues Lev who informs her of Abby's sacrifice and the Fireflies' renewed attempt to create a cure. Faced with the choice of either reuniting with Dina and JJ or sacrificing herself for humanity, Ellie ultimately decides to finish what she had started in the first game. After much trials and tribulations along the way during which Ellie and Lev form a bond with each other, they finally reach the Fireflies. It would be left ambiguous if the Fireflies could actually create a cure from Ellie's immunity, but it would finally bring a small ray of hope for humanity . Before they finally part ways for good, Ellie gives Lev a memento to pass along to Dina and JJ. The game would end with Lev wandering off to an uncertain yet hopeful future with memories of Abby, Ellie, and their sacrifices.

I have always like the ending. For me, one, Joel is not a good man. He is a villain in some many stories. The player is attached to Joel because we play as him. We have his perspective. But those whose lives he destroys do not. From the game world's perspective, Joel is a villain. His actions led to his death. His pain unleashed pain unto the world, and the world returned the favor. Abby is the same. Her quest for revenge cost her all her friends. Ellie is the same. During the story, all of Ellie's memories, visions of Joel are of pain. The pain of their separation. The guilt of not reconciling after the last argument. The visual of watching him die. The cycle of violence due to continue forever. But you can see how murdering affects Ellie. She can kill in defense. She can kill for protection. Murdering is different for her. You can see the dissonance on her face after each murder. You see she is struggling in her quest for revenge. You can see she wants to turn away. But she is driven by her guilt more than her love. It is her love for him that we see in her reactions to her murders. But her guilt drives her to continue. She escapes it for a short time. Given the opportunity to turn away from it to be with Dina. But Tommy brings it back into her life. And once again the guilt drives her quest. It is only in that last moment when she has a positive memory of Joel, that the guilt is set free. In that moment accepting loss. In that moment remembering love and what it was like to be human. Knowing that Joel wanted her not to be like him. Not to end like him. There are issue with how ND went about telling the story. I think people are overly critical. I think the ending was solid. In a world full of despair, anguish, suffering, guilt, we can still choose to be better than we were before. That's how I interpreted it anyway.

Who knows about that braclet she could have had that in her pack that whole time so it wouldn't get destroyed and put it back on duing the time skip back to the abandoned farmhouse? & i highly doubt abby would trust seeing ellie again after that final encounter in a part 3 . & from having seen others with and also having ptsd it gets worse unless you have some therapy or good drugs to stop the pain and nightmares. So i think her leaving everythig behind would be her way of letting go and starting up somewhere else , but who knows i am still a fan of abby and her reasons but i do understand ellies downward spiral into maddness and coming to the edge of no return.

@discipll4 жыл бұрын
Here's the thing that people don't get, and bare with me on this the end of this will let u see this in a new light. Just think about what would envoke the strongest emotion. : Truly, this game isn't like the typical superhero type movies, like with how Ironman went out. Everyone wanted Joel to have a moment like that right? NaughtyDog Knew that, and the reason they DIDN'T do it, is because what would make thr player be even more emotional and completely let it consume us, they way Ellie was consumed. Its perfect for letting us feel that same hate as with Ellie, and thats one fucking story isn't it? You truly relate with Ellie. NaughtyDog wants to fuck with us and take us on a Rollercoaster that many don't want. But why?? First off Joel isn't a good person, and eveyone makes their own choice the way they see fit and what they think is right. Its why the doctor did what he had to do, its why Joel did what he had to do, and why Ellie went on this quest. Its emotionally draining, and honestly they pulled it off amazingly. **After Abby killed Joel, we saw she still had nightmares, and it only stopped when she saves Lev and Yara and takes them upon herself. Its the first real good she has done. And she no longer has nightmares. She still is generally a bad person, but NaughtyDog wants to give everyone a chance, and it wants us to give it a chance, give her a chance. And it is why Part 3 will happen 110% Mark my words. If Ellie killed Abby, she would still have nightmares like Abby still did. We saw Ellie still had PTSD and couldn't live normally even with J.J and Dina at the 1st farm scene. So she went on to get revenge again. What changed?? Ellie put a knife to Lev's throat, to get abby to fight her. Thats not cool, and Ellie knows what she was becoming, and it wasn't her. It wasn't her nature, because in the 1st game, she still didn't want to kill unless she had to. Killing abby would only haunt Lev and the cycle would probably continue AGAIN!! he would be on his own with noone. Ellie basically smacked Abby with a golf club, in front of Lev, same with Abby. THAT end scene is basically the same with Joel death Scene, if Ellie went all the way through.Lev doesn't deserve that. Ellie is better than that, Ellie is truly the strongest willed person. The game at its core was about her and the fireflies in the 1st place. Joel was just a guy who came across Ellie, (FOR THE FIREFLIES) in the whole 1st place anyways. Also.... Ellie was angry at herself that she didn't treat Joel better. But atleast she tried to forgive him, and YOU CAN HEAR JOELS VOICE BREAKDOWN after he said: "I'd like that". And she leaves with Joel's sad voice: " YUp" This is a quote from TWD game: ""Actions have consequences no matter the intent"". Carlos said that in S2 in the van. Joel had a good intent, but his actions in a cruel world, i mean its realistic enough that he got that death. In reality, we ain't getting a superhero death. Part 3 will connect everything, and I'm sure you guys will love it.

However I also understand what its point is about. It was directed weird. I don't think that fight was necessary. Both of protagonists chose an obviously losing option - revenge. And both of them paid the price. In the end I didn't wish anybody to die. Neither Ellie, nor Abby. I'd rather they talk. But again "what I would like". What we have we have. And I don't mind.
