in a better story, i could see this working out, with a character trying to act tough in front of an ally, but going all out in rage when the person who did kill them enters... thing is, it doesnt fit here because we have seen abby act like a monster with no repercussion. its almost as if she has to fit what the game needs her to feel, as oppose to a real person. she keeps flip flopping on how she acts, so we never really see how she is. again, this could work well in a better story, were we are actually given pacing to let the events sink in. but nah, they needed her to feel one way here, another there, and a completely diferent one over there. her character is all over the place...

@@marcosdheleno the game ge already showed abby's character the moment she spared Ellie. She could have killed her but she chose not to because her anger is towards Joel. But Ellie on the other hand had to kill and torture people just to get her revenge to Abby. The difference is clear and the game is very straightforward about it. Ellie didn't even care about Tommy even though it was implied that he is under fire by the Wolfs while Abby cared about some Scars that saved her life (although feels really artificial and forced). You can see their difference yet people get blinded with "You killed my fave characters so I will hate you because that is what the majority's opinion are".

Literally, a tommy and ellie sequel where you play as Ellie. They have to save Joel cause fireflies take him to be tried for what he did. You travel for so long just to get to Joel and eventually you end up in a situation where you have to choose between saving Tommy, who you built a relation with, or saving Joel. Along with them comes Tommy's dog, Dina who dies trying to stop the "choose who to save" encounter. Would have been game of the year

So here’s the thing I’m starting to feel. When you’re introduced to Abbey, she’s some psychopathic, murderous, vile, malicious person who tortured a man who just saved her life in an act of revenge. Then, you spend ten hours getting to know her, the character around her, and in this section she seems normal, balanced, and sometimes compassionate and relatable. Despite her massive protein-fueled body, people start to see her as normal and tolerable. Then, as Ellie, you spend your time seeking revenge for the father-figure you loved, slowly killing the characters you got to know as Abbie. You feel the same grief as Abbey that Ellie did when Joel was taken. The lesson being that revenge just brings grief, and perpetuates a circle of violence and suffering. It would be great, if player’s trust wasn’t so damaged by the initial absolute unchained portrayal of Abbey as some she-hulk, as well as numerous ridiculous things such as a pregnant woman going on missions and a completely unnecessary sex scene that the player is forced to watch.

Literally, a tommy and ellie sequel where you play as Ellie. They have to save Joel cause fireflies take him to be tried for what he did. You travel for so long just to get to Joel and eventually you end up in a situation where you have to choose between saving Tommy, who you built a relation with, or saving Joel. Along with them comes Tommy's dog, Dina who dies trying to stop the "choose who to save" encounter. Would have been game of the year.

Joel kills a man about to murder a young teenage girl because he grew to love her as a daughter. He does what he has to do to escape. Abby decides to go after Joel because he quickly ended her fathers life in order to save a young girl and brutally murders him, leaving Ellie without a father figure just as Joel had unknowingly done to Abby. Then she's somewhat surprised when Ellie wants revenge too. Not sure how we sympathize with that. Joel did what he did out of love and desperation, even if it was selfish. Abby did it out of anger and spite.

i loved the first game, i mean absolutely adored it. it made me cry multiple times, the storyline was wonderful and the character development between joel and ellie and their relationship really made it a super fun experience. THAT BEING SAID, i don’t like this game. not because everyone else doesn’t like it, just because *i* don’t like it. everything feels wrong, the storyline is all over the place - story wise, it’s just not good. the first bit i enjoyed, really fun and the story wasn’t horrific, but then it cuts into abbys part and the story goes all over the place. so if you’re one of the people who was a big fan of the first game - don’t worry, you’re not wrong or some kind of traitor for not liking this one.

That’s because he didn’t pay attention at all (even playing as Ellie). The game explains it if you listen. The parts you played as Abby were before Ellie got to the locations. If he wouldn’t have played the game live, I guarantee it would’ve been a better experience (for him and his viewers).

This game would’ve been better if there was more focus on Abby. I honestly can’t stand Ellie and her dumb fuck girlfriend that she smoked pot with. I don’t understand how you people want that storyline more than the Abby one. Abbys storyline actually has many moving parts and interesting and engaging characters. Kinda perplexes me why people are so writing off a genuinely GOOD storyline because their favorite character died and now they are completely closed off to anything new.

@@villyintheflesh the fact that her story comes from a character that we don't have enough time to bond with, and that even in the sequel we got a ton of unsettleling parts is enough to say "no" to playing a character that is being shoved down our throats and forcing us, the player or viewer to like. It's offensive and dumb. It mislead us into something we didn't want nor didn't want to like. It's good that you have made an opinion on your view on this, but her story doesn't fulfill us with grief or pitty. We resent her as a character, and the fact that her overall plot is just a revenge one. It goes as far as leaving us without better context or reason. And the fact that everyone falls short in this game on their characteristics makes her less likable and more annoying to even watch.
