Sam being deaf was the only reason that he didn't attack Ellie in her sleep. The infected are entirely reactive so if nothing disturbs them they have no reason to move other than when they interact with sunlight. Since he couldn't hear Ellie the infection never registered her presence.

Kathleen was so blinded by her pursuit for revenge against humans, she forgot that the infected were still around. It was ultimately her downfall and she condemned the other survivors as a result. Loving the series, loving your reactions!

The big Fungi that came out is a Bloater which is stage 4 of the infection. It takes approximately 10 to 15 years for a fungi to hit stage 4 (Bloater)

The big fungus is called a bloater, in the game they rip pieces of themselves off an throw them at you as bombs, if you get too close they are an insta-kill. It's first seen on a mission with Bill. 🧟🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️

Fun Facts: Joel collects the comic books in the game for Ellie. Cordyceps is one of the fungi that is composed of chitin; crustaceans and a lot of arthropods also have a lot of chitin in their exoskeleton. As the infected get worse and worse (covered in more and more of the fungus), you can kind of think of it as having more and more armor/exoskeleton. This was a great episode, and wonderful reaction again! Also, "That's the most fucked up thing we've seen on television before" right before The Motel. Ouch. Ellie's scared of ending up alone because every other person in the world can get infected and die. She can't. Note that Tess got infected and was taken from her. Sam. ... And she's a supposed cure. She apologized to Sam. She felt responsible for not curing Sam. That's part of the reason she hurried away. The faster they leave, the sooner there is a cure. Perry wasn't building Kathleen up. He was pointing out the forgiveness (Her brother's way) accomplishes nothing. Vengeance (her way) accomplishes the goal. (Note: I'm not saying that, the characters are). Her brother led a peaceful and failed rebellion for god knows how long, and she took over, started fighting back, and they won. Oh, Ellie's belief that she could cure Sam made it so much more painful. I think she genuinely believed that it would work. She is a child, she has been told over and over that she is a cure, she has no understanding about how a cure would be made so it makes sense that she thinks it could be relatively simple... Oh, so sad. She apologized at the grave. When Tess died, Ellie hung around to grieve, while Joel shoved his emotions down grimly and pressed on. This time it was Joel who lingered and Ellie who left. He is becoming more emotional, and she is becoming colder/more traumatized. Also, Joel and Henry mocked "endure and survive." Henry survived but couldn't endure. Both parts are important. Sam also faced the window. Two things: He knew he wouldn't see Ellie, which means he wouldn't attack her. He was protecting her. As he felt himself turn, he knew he wouldn't hear her. If he couldn't see her, he wouldn't know she was there and thus couldn't attack her. Also, it has been confirmed over the years of the game that runners DO have the person in their head. So Sam was in there when he attacked Ellie. Something to think of though -> If Ellie never touched him, if no one ever touched him or got in his vision, he would be sitting there forever watching the sunset. He's deaf, so he wouldn't hear anything. Once he hit the clicker phase, and he could no longer see, then he would be sitting there in darkness and silence forever. If you play the video game, when you get to the sewers area, get every note from Ish. They give a nod to him which I appreciate (the part of the tunnels with the kid's room and the picture on the wall that says, "Our protectors -> Daddy and Ish." It's a fascinating and heartwarming/heartbreaking story)

i think sam didn't waited for ellie to wake up, problably when he felt the infection taking over, he looked away to not get the risk of attacking her, since he can't listen, he wouldn't notice ellie in the room in the runner state while looking away

I have questions about how a little girl clicker came out of the hole. Supposedly FEDRA drove the infected underground fifteen years ago. How was a little girl among the ones that came out? Do they not age when infected? These are infected people and not walking corpses so they have to metabolize something. What were they eating underground?

Ellie and Joel switch sides at the end. That was the Tess moment from episode 2. Ellie runs ahead while Joel is still waiting at the grave. Tess gave Joel a mission he wanted to fulfill as her last wish. The relationship that Joel had with Tess was similar to Ellie and Sam. Ellie promised (unspoken with hope) Sam the cure here and couldn't keep this promise. She now wants to make sure that this never happens again. As Tess said at the time "save who you can save". Ellie really has a mission now. Indirectly get through her feelings of guilt. She wants her blood to work. Before that, she was someone who had no control over anything. Others have determined where she grows up and where she has to go now. "I didn't ask for this" were her words in episode 2. Now that has changed. Now conviction plays a role and she takes control. She wants to save the world so that there are no more Sam's. And while Joel gradually finds his humanity again and lets people into his life again, Ellie loses a little more of herself and she takes the lead here in the end. I think the series showed that more clearly in this way than the game did. In addition, Ellie and Joel have reached a new level of connection with each other. Wordless understanding. Both wanted to save the brothers during the attack. That wasn't Joel's "don't do it Ellie" look. That was the look "I'll give you fire protection Ellie". And Ellie has absolute confidence in Joel. There was also a little joke about the game. The moment when the sniper shot and Henry and Sam senselessly ran out of cover, only to return immediately. This is how Ellie behaved very often in the game. She ran out of cover, right in front of the enemy and then back again. 🤦🏻‍♂️😁 Spoiler Part 2 Game: Oh yes and btw we all hate Kathleen for what she does. She subordinates everything to her revenge. How do we know this? Part 2. There are 2 characters we all love does nothing else.

The actor for Pierre is the voice actor for Tommy in the video games😀 can't wait to see troy and Ashley! That fungi attack was everything brought in so much of the game play that has been cut for story which I am enjoying this show much we need to keep doing game remakes this way!this eps is so good eps 3 was amazing but quie different from the game. I don't know why it took YT so long so suggest that I should watch your reactions to this brilliant show/game. I love this and yes, we all need Papi Pascal. 😉 I haven't read all the comments here so this might have been written already, but Sam asked Ellie if you are still aware after you have become a fungi and there are theories that yes, you as a human are aware of what you are doing but you can't do anything to stop it from happening. This is only thankfully in stage one, when you are what's called a runner. When you become a stalker, the human is most likely dead and it is very gone when you become a clicker and not to mention a bloater/shambler.
