The Last of Us is an upcoming American post-apocalyptic drama television series created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO. Based on the 2013 video game of the same name developed by Naughty Dog, the series will follow Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting the teenage Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic United States. It will feature Gabriel Luna as Joel's younger brother Tommy, Merle Dandridge as resistance leader Marlene, and Anna Torv as Joel's smuggler partner Tess.

the reaction with Henry dealing with sam is about as realistic as it gets. Imagine just waking up unexpectedly not knowing whats going on and on impulse you had to pull the trigger. The range of emotions from that actor was incredible.

That’s his little brother that he’s spent his whole life protecting and is in total shock. The actor did such a good job in portraying those emotions.

This episode was so economical in its storytelling. It had one episode to get us connected to Henry and Sam then kill them, and it pulled it off beautifully. Lamar Johnsonn and Keivon Woodward had such an instant, magnetic relationship that got you immediately attached to them. It was such a smart choice to have Ellie try to save Sam with her blood. That is very impactful for her internal struggle moving forward. And it paid off just how much Sam and Ellie had bonded. That line where Joel said that it’s easier for kids as they don’t have anyone that depends on them only for Ellie to lose Sam who depended on her. Such a great way of handling character with such small character work. The entire mirroring of Henry and Sam to Joel and Ellie serves to continue the narrative drive to the ending in such a deft way. Another banger episode. Also the Savage Starlight, Joel working his way through the street to get to the sniper, and the Bloater kill being just like the game was chef’s kiss. The Infected were truly terrifying in this episode. The clicker kid was so creepy.

When Joel saw the bridge before he went into the sniper's house, he could have easily escaped and left them behind to go to Wyoming by himself to get to Tommy. The fact he chose to stay to help save Ellie, Sam, & Henry speaks volumes on how much he's changed. If this was episode 1 Joel, he would've left them all behind to get to his brother hands down. He's so attached to Ellie now 😭

Ellie doesn’t get up and run when the clickers exit the hole because they’re blind and can only track people through echolocation which is sound and movement. She was safer just staying still.

And even if there’s some runners and other infected in there, the commotion going on is going to keep them from noticing Ellie and them for a good amount of time because they are running at the nearest thing in their sight that they can eat and Ellie and then we’re all out of sight behind the car.

Ellie and Joel switch sides at the end. That was the Tess moment from episode 2. Ellie goes on and Joel stays behind for a moment. The relationship that Joel had with Tess was similar to Ellie and Sam. Ellie promised Sam the cure here and couldn't keep it. She now wants to make sure that this never happens again. As Tess said at the time "save who you can save". Ellie really has a mission now. She wants her blood to work. Before that, she was someone who had no control over anything. Now that has changed. Now conviction plays a role. She wants to save the world so that there are no more Sam's.

Excellent acting by Bella in the scene where Henry shoots himself. Her whimpers killed me and instinctively gave me a fatherly urge to hug her The swarm scene is incredible good and creepy For sure one of the best action scenes I've ever seen Henry's first murder was his own little brother. It must be pure horror to realize what you just did. The "I'm sorry" at the end got me so hard. I cried 4 of 5 episodes and I love this show

This is my favorite episode so far. I did play the game and while they changed some minor things here I think they made it better in the show. Some of the changes: In the game Sam isn't deaf, in the game Joel had to kill a bunch of guys to get to the old man on the tower and it was during the daytime not at night, in the game Sam doesn't show Ellie that he got bit and they sleep in different rooms. I think the show did it much better in my opinion because it'd be extremely rare for a human to be able to kill so many armed people. As for the changes in the final scenes between Sam and Ellie the show's version was so much sadder and impactful.

If you are interested in the name of the big guy, and the other names for the different stages of the Infected (based on the game), read on: Stage: (All true to their namesake) 1 - Runners: Most we've seen up to this episode. Little outward signs of infection, relatively dumb. 2 - Stalkers: Haven't seen so far. A little smarter, they hide and pop out when a victim is near. 3 - Clickers: Encountered in the museum in episode two and this episode quite a lot. Completely blind but use echolocation and have VERY sensitive hearing. Extra vicious. 4 - BLOATERS: The "big guy" we encountered in this episode. Heavy armor from fungal plating and incredibly strong. The ones Joel was referring to in episode two when he said some Infected have been around as long as twenty years.

Brilliant episode! My one gripe is that they didn't flesh out the Ish story. From being on a boat for a year, to establishing the sewer community and its eventual downfall. That could have been a whole extra flashback episode on its own.

It’s crazy how if someone dropped a dime on Sam and Henry went on a killing rampage we’d be like “hell yeah that’s right! Kill those people for your brother!” We see Kathleen killing people who aided rapists and murderers for 20 years, and wants to get the guy responsible for putting her brother in fedra’s crosshairs and people are like “woah woah woah, let’s take it down a notch you psycho lady!”

I see people say she’s being hypocritical when she says that Sam was supposed to die and saying that well she’s doing all this because Michael died. But the thing is from her perspective it’s not hypocritical at all, Sam was sick so he was supposed to die naturally. It wouldn’t be anyone’s fault he’s just sick. However her brother who was leading the rebellion to take over these horrible people was killed due to Henry ratting him out to save his sock brother. Michael was healthy and wasn’t supposed to die. But then yeah Sam is a kid and everyone would rather the kid survive or course and it’s cruel to let him die. However even if it’s horrible to say… kids do die all the time and in comparison her brothers life was more important to making peoples lives better overall

The brutal truth is that Henry was the bad guy and Kathleen was right. If Henry hadn't given up Kathleen's brother, she would have let him be in charge after FEDRA was defeated. She wouldn't have focused on revenge, they would've forgiven the collaborators and kept the infected underground. Kansas City would have been safe. And Kathleen was right: kids die all the time. It was Sam's fate to die, first the leukemia, then the bite. Henry just decided that he was fine with dragging everyone down with him. Kathleen is very honest about being flawed. That her brother was the real leader, he should have been in charge, she couldn't help herself but focus on revenge. But Henry had him killed because he thought his own brother was more important than hers, and she disagreed. Henry was the bad guy.

Ellie showed kid brains there with how she dealt with learning about Sam's bite. Yes she didn't know if her blood would stop the infection but really it is everything else she did. She should have told Henry and Joel for a number of reasons. It should have been a group decision, not hers. Henry would've had time to come to terms with what would happen and be able to spend that time saying goodbye. Joel would have been in position to do what Joel does. She didn't even stay awake to watch over Sam as he turned. Terrible decision there and will no doubt affect her moving forward. She is a kid that has been fed a narrative that she is a savior of sorts. This probably gives her the realization that it's most likely a false narrative. Her fear of being alone might be prophetic.
