Honestly, I audibly gasped whenever Joel and Ellie had an additional interaction in this episode. Between Joel pleading for Ellie to leave, and them holding hands at the end, the extra tid-bits that weren't from the game, but their emotional display of "we're going to fight until the bitter end to keep the other person" were just icing on the cake.

For me personally, the first half of the mall was a bit too long, I liked their relationship in the game better (they seemed more well balanced), I wish we had seen a bit more of some other aspects of Ellie’s life, and even though the end was good I feel that the thematic link between past and present was not as well done as in episode 3… even though the idea was good: I suppose Ellie decided she wouldn’t leave Joel and would fight to keep him alive because “we don’t give up”. But there are some things that Riley said that struck me more, like when she says Ellie doesn’t know what it’s like to have a family and then lose it (ellie in the past didn’t know, ellie in the present now does). I also liked their discussion about the fireflies and why Riley joined them (basically because they asked her?). All in all, just not at the same level as all other episodes. A similar episode to episode 3, but teenage crush just doesn’t have the same appeal to me as a healthy loving relationship that lasts a lifetime. But the last few minutes were excellent, as in every episode.

Riley and Ellie getting bit juxtaposed with Ellie’s desperation to keep Joel alive really made both scenes so much more impactful. And I love how in the show, Ellie and Riley feel like kids whereas in the game they feel more like adults in kids’ bodies (not saying it’s bad-the acting was undoubtedly phenomenal). Both the game and the show are heavy hitters but Bella Ramsey’s acting in this episode really stuck with me for a few days. I haven’t had anyone’s acting stick with me like that in recent years since Zendaya in Euphoria.

I gotta be honest - I usually dislike "survival" genres when they focus too much on the human drama of it and I thought it would be the case for this series but it goes together so well and I am interested in the human aspect as well as the zombies. The whole "whether it's two minutes or two days" is amazing. It's the notion of "a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts" - Vision, Age of Ultron. It's better to have a life of fulfillment than just to place value on how long you have it for. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" . It's an interesting message shared more and more. Even Puss in Boots the last wish reflected it when fighting against death for his final life. It's amazing and fits into our lives well.

The level of emotion conveyed in the scene was absolutely remarkable. The performance of Storm Reid portraying Riley was exceptional, and Bella Ramsey also delivered a breathtaking portrayal of Ellie in this moment as well. Although I anticipated the moment when the stalker zombie attacked, resulting in Riley's death and Ellie's infection, it was still beautiful. The kiss was beautiful and authentic, devoid of any sense of being contrived or inserted forcibly. It felt like a genuine expression of human love, prompting me to reflect on the value of life. The moment when they came to terms with being bitten and realizing that it was the end was incredibly authentic. It portrayed their denial, planning on what to do next, fear, eventual acceptance of death, and the newfound love they embraced. The raw and genuine emotions conveyed in this scene were unparalleled, making it one of the most truly human moments I've ever witnessed in cinema.

Ohh that's why she (Ellie) says this bite mark is two weeks old when Joel and Tess first discover she was immune. So, she lost Riley like two weeks before the first episode happened. Damn so that's why the trauma is quite recent for Ellie compared to Joel and now that she is experiencing a similar situation with Joel, she is sort of reliving the trauma like Joel did with Ellie in episode 6. Hence, we the viewers getting this flash back type episode. This makes a lot of sense for me, and I have never thought about it in this way until now.

If the wound is open -- if the wound edges aren't approximated, to use the medical jargon -- then suturing would be important. I feel like the wound was deep enough that yeah, suturing would be necessary. Not to avoid a big keloid scar, but rather to perhaps allow the perotonitis to get better over time. The omentum does mobilize to wall off infections to an extent and, as the bowel clearly wasn't perforated, maybe it would have healed on its own. But if the abdominal wall wasn't intact and pathogens could get into the intraabodminal space then Joel was 100% going to die.

Just stitching up a wound like that doesn't actually do anything. You've gotta clean it completely, all the way inside. I hated that she joined because she got a job she didn't like and felt was beneath her like some entitled college kid posting on TikTok about being misgendered and having to work 20 hours a week. Folks like Joel make money and scrape by burning corpses and shoveling shit while her assignment would have been to stand guard while they do that. But she felt entitled to get something better although we see that fedra recognizes talent and she obviously didn't have as much talent as the actress had actual acting skill, namely zero

She got the job she didn't like because she clearly wasn't a team player and didn't believe in FEDRA. She was relegated to a bad assignment because FEDRA knew she was the kind of person was probably sympathetic to the Fireflies, or at least wouldn't be pro-FEDRA enough for something more.

Braindead comment. Imagine being a sixteen year old orphan and being told that you’re going to shovel shit for the rest of your life for an agency that you never cared about or believed the philosophy of. Obviously she went to join the fireflies because Marlene convinced her that she had a greater purpose in life. Riley truly believed that the fireflies would make the world a better place for everyone and wanted to be a part of that.

I've only been watching clips, but I prefer science-y shit over bland soap operas. I really don't care about the fictional relationships of fictional people. I really don't.

Then why are you consuming fiction? Just read an autobiography or something, or watch an action movie. All of the most revered stories of all time, whether shows or books, are *dramas*.

um you do know the two "agenda lgbt" episodes were actually in the base game? They didn't add it in. Cuz I get it - sometimes studios do add unnecessary Race/sexuality changes to characters and ignore the source material. This isn't the case for the show though.

And ofcourse you wouldn't have a problem with the show if it had only heterosexual people in right? Like what the hell is your problem? Are you really THAT pathetic that you actually care about other people's love interests?

The Last of Forcing Gay People into hiding. People are gay at the same rate they were 100 years ago, the only difference is now you actually see it portrayed in media. Comparatively speaking, when stacked against hetero media, there is virtually no positive gay representation. The lgbtqia+ was always here and always will be. There's nothing righteous about harassing an entire community of people for existing.
