As a retro gamer who grew up on Sonic and Mario, it makes me laugh whenever people talk about how 'outdated' the gameplay is. It wasn't so long ago that jumping on enemies and collecting coins was a formula that kept us entertained for years. Now, we're talking about a game with some of the best graphics ever made, with great story telling and excellent character development, and we're going to complain about outdated gameplay? Lol yes man the game was fantastic and one of a kind. But the problem is if you keep releasing it over and over it doesn’t matter how good it was people will get tired of it. A literal great example is gta5 is was absolutely a fantastic game at its time and after the 3rd or 4th re release no one cares. I've generally replayed Part 1 once or twice a year since release and considering how much I disliked the 2nd games story, despite being impressed by the graphics and gameplay mechanics I literally couldn't bring myself to replay it even ONCE, no joke, I tried and about half hour in I was just "no, no...nope" I might go for the marriage of the experience of the first with graphics of the second, but it's a real luxury purchase.. The Good - Improved visuals make for a prettier and more meaningful experience thanks to the incredibly vivid detail in the faces. - Combat feels much tighter thanks to handful of quality-of-life improvements - The tremendous suite of accessibility options sets a new standard for accessibility in games - There are tons of new unlockable goodies to pour over well after finishing the game The Bad - Level design is lacking by today's standards - The absent multiplayer mode is sorely missed. (which honestly shouldn't even be a negative thing because they're making a whole new standalone game sorely based on the multiplayer)

The graphics have been renewed, some small but good details have been added to the game (body dismemberments for example) and so on... BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT ALL THESE ARE WHAT WE ALREADY AND SHOULD EXPECT IN A REMASTERED GAME. If it is sold at full price, it must be adapted and developed for the current era. but didn't do it right. As I said above, although they did some things, they were lazy to do the "Laast of Us part 2 combat" they promised. For example, there is no avoidance mechanic. To be honest, at least those who own the game should have been given a discount. $70 is a ridiculous price to play the slightly better version . I would have played the original version if I wanted to play this game again , btw I must say the 2013 version is still perfectly fine and playable. And, ı know. they made this remastered mostly for ps5 (and pc)

My Son got me a copy for free on Tuesday. Played about 7hrs and it's a strange one. There are times with the gore and enemy movement from LOU2 makes combat feel fresh but my God Melee still feels like it's from 10yrs ago. After just finshing LOUS 2 again which is a PS4 game and this is PS5 only, melee animation, movement , lack of dodge , cheap enemy attack make this feel outdated on hard mode. Also graphics are not up to par as LOU2, especially little details in environments. Overall if you haven't played it great, if you have wait for price drop. Anyone who does pay full price will convince themselves it's worth it no matter what, you cannot change those type of gamers but for me it's a chance missed by ND.

£70 minimum (base version) is a blatant cash-grab. Especially if you've previously bought it on both PS3 and PS4/Pro (both are true for me). If you've previously bought it (not added to library via PS Plus) on both, you should get a 80% discount for the PS5 version or 70% off the more expensive version. If you've previously bought 1 previous version, you should get a 40% discount or 30% off of the more expensive version.

Yes, spend FULL price on a game you've already bought at least once that was already flawless two times over. Because it's not like you're bringing it from the PS1 to current gen or anything. I don't think this game should be 70 dollars. But God no matter how you look at this it isn't a remaster. This is more than a resolution bump. If Shadow of the colossus and Demons souls are remakes, games that literally the exact same as the original but rebuilt to meet more modern standards. I'm a bit torn. Especially about the comments about how nothing has changed level design wise or story wise etc. Personally its what I want from a remake I don't want it changed I just want new polish on it. At the same time though I understand some people do want some changes in say the level design or puzzle solving and thats fine too! I also wish the multiplayer was in the game but its not and me complaining that its not in the game isn't gonna make it magically appear.

What you want is a remaster sr. Naming your game a remake implys you're REMAKING the game aka RE 2 or FFVII

The conversation around this game has really, and even harmfully, change the technical and fundamental understanding of what a remake is. FF7 and RE2 & 3 are remakes that borderline reboots. More specifically, they are a reimagining. The flow line goes like this: Original > Update (low end - Cyber Punk 2077, high end - No Man's Sky) > Remaster (low end - Jak and Daxter, high end - TLOU) > Remake (super low end - GTA Trilogy, low end - Shadow of the Colossus, mid end - TLOU Pt I or Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2, high end - Demon's Soul) > Reimagining (low end - RE 2, high end FF7) > Reboot (low end - Ratchet and Clank and the also in-theory considered-sequel FF7, high end - Devil May Cry). Vision and intention is what determines which is which. Not every remake is supposed to imitate a high end reimagining like FF7. You can't judge a low end remake (like Crash Bandicoot) for it's ability to replicate a high end remake's scope, like that of Resident Evil 2.
