Fun reactions so far but few things to clear up. 1. Tess was bitten in the museum by one of the clickers (I think in the part where she came from out of nowhere to knock the one off of Joel but it could have happened while separated from Joel and Ellie), as opposed to your thinking that she was bitten before leaving the QZ 2. They were eating jerky at the start, not tree bark :D 3. The testers aren't for taking temperature, they are testing for infections. Red means infected while green means not infected

Tess got bitten at the museum. The significance of Ellie is that she has gone three weeks without turning - it usually takes hours depending on where you are bitten. Tess was bitten on the neck, she was already turning, thats why the infected didn't attack her. The one that gave her the fungal kiss recognized that it was already inside her. Ellie hasn't become infected, that's why Marlene wants to get her to the scientists to study her- she's immune. As you can see she was even re-bitten and still did not turn. Joel and Tess have been together a long time, but Joel still never gave all of himself to Tess because of his hurt- that's why she said i never asked you to feel the same about me. If you go back to the first episode you'll see people missing limbs- that's because they were bitten in extremities and they cut them off to stop the spread. There was a chart in the office when we first see the kid in the wheelchair that explains the time frame from bitten to fully infected.

For the show, they were gonna have a Tess flashback. She's originally from Detroit, and had to lock her infected child in the basement. That's where the, "This is not my fucking home!" line comes from.

@@TahoeNevada I wouldn't have minded a flashback showing her origin. I'd still love to see more of Joel and Tommy after Sara was unalived. How they moved across the country and met Tess and stuff

This series is equal parts horrifying and heartbreaking. I don't think you're truly prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that they accomplished.

I'm a huge fan of the games I promise no spoilers. But an important fact to know is that their are many different stages of the infected. Stage 1: "Runners" most common occurs anywhere from 24-48 hours after infection they are very fast and can still see and hear. Often travel in packs. Stage 2: "Stalkers" this stage can take up to two weeks post-infection to reach, and is one they remain in for up to a year. They tend to hide in places and attack victims, and they can usually still see and hear. Stage 3: "Clickers"(what you saw in the museum episode 2) this stage can take over a year post-infection to reach. They have completely lost their ability to see. But now have incredible hearing and use echolocation to hunt and seek out prey. They are also one of the strongest types of infected due to the fungus serving as armor on their body. There are other stages past that, but due to spoilers I won't say anymore. I'm enjoying your reactions, and look forward to the rest.

That was the sound of a Clicker using echolocation because it can't see. Amazing they are voiced by voice actors, same ones who voiced them in the game no less.

I don't know if you picked up on the significance of Ellie eating a sandwich knowing later in this episode how it spreads through flour nobody eats anything with flour anymore.

One of the most horrifying parts in the game that I don't think ever happens in the series is because they are being taken control of you can hear some early infected humans protesting what their doing but can't stop themselves from doing it and being disgusted by their actions. Truly heartbreaking the first time you hear it.

The Dune mini-series (2000) is much closer to the books and is over 4 hours long. I think it is 3 x 90 min episodes.

i think that in this universe there is still hope. fungi can infect, but it can't breed. so at the time if no one gets infected, infected dies out.

The 2008 movie, Children Of Men was a *huge* influence in tone on TLOU, both the game and show. Recommend watching that some time.
