I feel like it's worth noting that the showrunners have said season 2 will not fully cover everything in TLoU Part 2 and that it will take 2-3 seasons to fully tell Part 2's story- meaning the show won't cover fully cover Part 2 until at least the end of season 3 which is however many years away. It'd be nice to have someone going in blind but if Aaron doesn't play the game, he won't get the full story for another 3+ years at the earliest.

During my first playthrough, in the end of Part 2 there's a last fight between two characters at the beach, knee-deep in water. The game forces you to fight and I didn't want to win. I kept failing and saying "they must stop this revenge bullshit, I don't wanna do this". Then I went through it against my will and the character ends up winning the fight but sparing the life of her foe. This is how far the game took me. The story is written to make you give a second thought before killing an enemy in a video game, by the end I was already doing it automatically.

That being said, I was really happy that Aaron didn't go on to play part 2 right away, simply because I know that the second season will be a very memorable television experience for anyone who has not. First-Bella and Pedro BOTH need those Emmy awards! Love the addition of Joel seeing a therapist. Having him doing the work/tackling his demons, and then feeling hopeful about repairing his relationship with Ellie (with the change of having that final conversation in S2), only to then have that chance violently taken away by Abby, will make it more painful I think. Same with Ellie..that’s where a lot of her anger came from, angry at herself for not forgiving Joel sooner, and losing that chance to rekindle that relationship. Knowing Bella and Pedro’s close friendship off-screen will for sure add to the heartbreak. ❤️‍🩹

But I liked the porch scene being so late in the game. To spend the whole game thinking Ellie is going after abby just for revenge and being upset he was killed to then learn after everything that they had talked and were going to work towards reconnecting makes what happened to them so much sadder. Ellie is mad that her ability to forgive Joel was taken from her. It and also adds a small bit of bittersweetness to know they had at least had this moment before everything went to hell after spending the whole game thinking she hated him.

The only issue with not having everyone on the same page is that you can't discuss everything openly, but it would be a really interesting dynamic to keep Aaron blind to the game and just absorb the show for what it is. The show will be in two parts, so if he doesn't play the game, it will be quite a while before he can if he wants to keep the same dynamic to the first part of season 2.
