I see the series as an invitation to try out the real story, which is the game, and then you fit the extra lore of the series to the videogame. Overall, let’s be honest the game is just a masterpiece of storytelling, I cry and get all hype in the sam exact scenes after 10 years. The show just doesn’t hit those marks.

I think if the show had an additional $25-40m and could have extended the series by 2-4 episodes featuring more exploration and infected, it could have hit those same marks. It just happens and is over so quickly. I know a lot of people hate the two episodes featuring content either not in the game, or being DLC material for having taken away time that could have been spent expanding the lore and characters, but I think they served solid narrative purpose. I just think overall they were too limited on budget and time. That's why I think the second series will be better in many ways - because the first was a huge hit and this will probably result in a much higher budget and longer production.

Why do you say it's difficult for Marlene to sacrifice Ellie? I didn't see any hesitation. I think that is Marlene's worst characteristic. She rushed back in to kill her friend. Couldn't she have said "I'll protect your baby," or "I love you," or SOMETHING? She just had a baby, been bitten, and... isn't that enough? She never checks on ellie the whole time she's growing up. She shows no kindness at any point. When Joel shows up with Ellie she's like "off you go for surgery. Joel let's chat while I lull you into a false sense of security while they cut her head off..." And her reason in the the carpark for letting them do surgery on Ellie is basically "She's just going to die anyway. And this will be quick. What's it to you?" She didn't even tell the kid what she was in for. If she cared AT ALL about the kid she would have recognized Ellie as a fellow sentient being with thoughts and feelings. The way she did it is what you do when you put a dog down. They don't know so they won't be afraid. That's fucked up. And she was willing to do that to A KID. Ellie never said she wanted to die for the cause. And how about running some blood tests first? Geeze louise these Fireflies are messed up. Can I compare her to Sidney Powell?

I was hesitant to watch the show at first as I loved the game so much, but I was not disappointed at all. It was so beautifully done, both when they stayed true to the game and when they switched things up a little like with Bill and Frank (honestly one of the most beautiful episodes of any show I've ever seen). The part where Joel went on a killing spree to save Ellie in the hospital nearly brought me to tears, they definitely got the intensity right and got me to feel the feels. Loved it

I’m hoping we see some changes from Abby’s game time 10 hours of side quests it took 2 hours to amputate a girl and then she died 5 seconds later it also doesn’t help that she had no motive and most people kind of hate her including me I’m just hoping it switches from Ellie to Abby every episode so we don’t suffer

playing tlou the first time i didn’t take tommies threat to joel seriously but after seeing what tommy does in pt 2 i honestly think he might’ve been able to whoop joel’s ass in that moment

I think the same, I wish they hadn't mangled Tommy up so bad in the second game!... I'm hoping we see more of him in game three, hes enough like Joel to fill those shoes. His story arc I didn't feel was done, I think there is enough bad-ass in him he would recuperate a lot of ability in time.

TLOU is one of my all time fave Games and The Show didnt Catch me. Its weird because I feel Like everyone is praising it so much But i feel Like they didnt Catch The Essence of The Game. The Lack of encounters with infected Took a Lot of The hopelesness and brutality of that world away. Changing a survivalist Like Bill into a Guy who would stand in The middle of The Road during a shootout didnt Help too. And The worst Part to me was, despite my Love for Bella Ramsey in GoT, she didnt fit as Ellie at all. She didnt Deliver The emotions, Game Ellie Had war more Nuance in her facial expressions. What Made it worse is how they wrote Ellie to basically be more capable than Joel. In The Game Ellie is badass but a child after all, she needs Joel and Joel is damaged, but also cold and brutal because He couldnt survive otherwise. Joel in The Series basically often needs Ellies protection, He falls asleep during watch so Ellie has to Take over, she is Always smarter than him and it Just didnt Catch The amazing bond they Had in The Game

Going through the show again, I think Ellie is 1000% perfect in the HBO show right from the first scene when she counts to ten and goes "7, 8, fuck you." Joel doesn't become the Joel I know from the game until around episode 8.

Other than Ellie and Joel's daughter's looks and the lack of Infected (Runners, Stalkers, Clickers, etc.) in many of the episodes, the show was mostly spot on.

TLOU is my favourite game of all time and I couldn't get past the show. I stopped maybe midway. It just felt so far removed (which is fine) whilst bringing nothing substantial into the story apart from that amazing Bill/Frank episode. It felt generic, which I know the main story is, but then it wasn't unique in it's own special way. I'm glad people like it but the changes they made (making Joel seem WAY less violent, Ellie's poor acting, slight wording changes that felt off, literally like 2 zombies) weren't on par with the game. I wouldn't mind that it was so different if they actually made it good in its own right.

I didn't care for placing the mall episode in before the finale. DLC is played at the end of the game. So instead of seeing how capable Ellie is we see her from the DLC where she's less capable. Felt misplaced it'd probably be better to just skip ep7 and watch it last

It just shows game developers can have good scripts, but they still need real writers to adapt them into shows/movie. Cus the games are somethimes flat .
