As a retired Age Care Nurse, I swear I would faint at the sight of some of the stuff that comes out of those drains, even though at times, I was covered in every sort of human body fluid, sometimes all at once! 😂🤣😂

As a former dietary aide/cook in both assisted living and full-care nursing (in the States), there were a few occasions that I was nearly involved with goodness knows what sort of excretions...but you kinda get used to it as a parent (kids will explode who knows what from every orifice occasionally).

This evening I went to take a shower and the drain was blocked. I've got a thin 3 metre cable with a corkscrew on the end that my dad gave me years ago. I sent it down, and pulled out a ball of hair about the size of a mouse all slimy with soap and shampoo. It really did smell disgusting, but the drain cleared. I was delieriously happy and now understand why you love your job so much. It really was so satisfying.

I had slow drains in my old house, and the plumber(s) never could really solve the problem. One of them told me to get a big refill bottle of Dawn dishwashing soap and pour 1/2 cup down each drain every Sunday night before bed and just let it sit overnight. After doing that for about two months, I heard a “clunk” noise, and the drain started running clear. It’s been clear ever since. 🎉
