This is a big one! The president of Curtis Roberto Diaz showed off this tone technique at a master class that I attended and it was revolutionary for me. I hope it helps your sound as much as it has helped mine and that of my students. Enjoy!
Here's a description of each video in the series:
1. Foundations: bow hold and rabbits • FIX your scratch sound...
2. Pulling a straight bow at the balance point (Tuck-a-s) • FIX your crooked bow! ...
3. Expanding to full whole bows using arm weight • The body MECHANICS of ...
4. Using scales to develop bow control at every bow speed. • Mastering Bow Control:...

For all you Suzuki violinists out there, I wanted to produce professional level recordings that you could listen to and watch on KZbin. Listening is how your ear develops a sense of quality tone so it's critical to choose your recordings carefully. I often recommend to my students and parents that they put it on repeat and fall asleep to the recording. The brain processes and learns even while sleeping. Happy listening!

Hey Daniel! Thanks for the watch and the comment! Just so you know I started my channel partly because I was disappointed in the content available on KZbin for my students. After a couple weeks of posting, I discovered your channel and realized there was some FANTASTIC information on KZbin! Keep up the great work and know it’s having a positive impact. 👊

Its so good. I'm trying to develop my skills by watching KZbin and I'm glad i discovered you. I hope you will keep going with these masterclasses. I'm trying to get a good sound on the most highest positions by playing chords with 4 strings and usually can't do it good enough. And also i just took my shoulder rest off and just started to get used it little bit but still trying to figure out something. So I would be appreciated if you may add your program some videos like; How to play chords in the most highest notes How to get a good and relax sound at the highest notes on the g string without shoulder rest etc. Thank you so much, i wish you health!

Hey! Thanks for the comment and the video ideas. I’ll definitely be making more of these types of videos until I have series on every aspect of technique. 👍 Until I get around to making the videos that include the topics you addressed maybe these tips can guide you. 1. The higher you get in the string, the more it responds to bow speed rather than pressure. Press less and flow sideways more. 2. Be careful as you transition to not using a shoulder rest to not over grip the neck of the violin with your left hand. I’m planning a violin setup video for both using a shoulder rest and not using a shoulder rest. 3. When practicing the four note chords try to find beautiful sound on the bottom two strings by lingering on them and then do the same with the upper two strings. Find what works with bow speed, weight and contact point before trying to roll too much. Hope this helps! It’s hard to address things perfectly without hearing a sample of where you’re at. I’m hoping to launch a patreon as soon as the channel gets big enough where you could participate in a masterclass and get feedback. Or of course you could email me and we could do a virtual lesson if you like. 👍
