I hope this is the last Texas Rig worm video you'll ever have to watch. The soft plastic worm is one of the best baits for bass and in this video we go through how to rig a Texas Rig and a few cool custom modifications you can do to set your lure a part from the rest.

Believe it or not, many bodies of water I fish here in central Florida don’t have much grass so the 10.5 ribbon tail slays. I also have a t-rig set up with a stick bait as well, and will rig it from the back end if the front gets torn up. Definitely a great bait for the summer heat.

I'm up in central Minnesota and a green pumpkin Yum swimming dinger with a chartreuse stripe down the side (spike-it marker) has been THE DEAL. 3/0 gammy hook and a 5/16th tungsten with 17lb flouro tied to 40lb braid. Drag it, swim it, flip it. It has literally been the only thing for about 3 weeks that I can consistently catch numbers and size with! Anyone in the north country, if you fish grass, give it a shot!

This could be a good option for a TRD Use a 2/0 Mustad grip pin hook or similar I have tried a tail weighted trd and it’s ok but sometimes I want a more horizontal action vs a up and down action I have tried to free rig a Ned with some success. What I don’t care for are those crap light wire Ned jigs with a bait tearing pin on it I normally break the pin off and wrap a section of the hook with dental floss and a dot of super glue to hold the bait on Great video as usual 😊

Thanks Mikey you're the greatest man always thinking outside of the box... And I always put a double bobber stop on my Texas rig in case I want to Carolina rig it, just cuz you never know how they want it! And a z-man on a free rig can light up those grumpy fish!

I have cut a foam earplug in half and run it on the hook before I set the hook tip into the body of the worm on Carolina rig. It's the same concept as a keel weighted hook it just helps the worm rise off the bottom and you can change the color of the ear plug to add some differt target color to the worm.

To me fishing is 90% mental..if a clear bobber stop gives you that little bit of confidence then a clear bobber stop is what you need to throw..most of this game is mental. I completely agree with these mods and will definitely give them a try today.

Mike, I live 2 minutes from Wilson dam. Last night I was fishing a flat offshore and the stripe went to shredding giant shad balls. As fun as it was I couldn't figure out together through them to catch a largemouth. Couldn't tell you how many hybrid stripe I caught and it was a blast but I can't help but think there were bass in there. Any suggestions? Love the videos and the work you put in. Thank you. Hit me up if you get to Wilson or Pickwick I would love to fish with you. Perkins outdoors is the bait shop. Tight lines bro.
@mikeybalzz
@mikeybalzz Жыл бұрын
I'm by no means a master up here but if it were me I'd probably try to throw something just big enough that the stripe couldn't eat it but they could still hit it but the bass would actually be able to get it maybe a 5 or 6 in swimbait or if they're deep enough a hair jig

I'm a newbie, why would you texas rig the stickbait on a round bend hook buried inside the bait instead of an EWG? It looks like the hook point won't become exposed easy or as easy as it does with an EWG skin hooked. It sure looks like your hook-up percentage will be less.
@LowBrowFishing

We call that rig with the extra bobber stopper the "baby Carolina" or a "Carolina lite". I can confirm that it works great! Here's a quick tip for you - cut the ends of your worms like you did, except cut both top and bottom and cut it so there are 4 "tendrils" instead of just 2. Wacky rig that. Catch fish.
