First time hearing about this. Think of the Zulu war of '79 with the British. This is something else. This rebellion is largely forgotten. The Zulus were at a disadvantage, yet they fought with the determination of their ancestors before them. The British were fresh off the Boer war of 1899 and they're well-trained with state of the art weapons of the time.

What would you do? I have great respect for Zulu warriors!
@darkmaster967013 күн бұрын
It's quite astonishing, when you think about it. That these Zulu guys were trying to attack with such spear-and-shield ramming tactics just 8 years before the start of World War I, and only 33 years before World War II started, with all their military technology (tanks, jet planes, and atomic weapons).

Have only vaguely heard of this event. The Zulus where brave charging to certain death even if it did lead to defeat. The uncertain fate of Chief Bhambatha is an interesting adage to this battle, either he died or escaped, living anonymously until his natural passing.

Incredible bravery from the Zulus, charging the British lines during these battles. Required a lot of bravery from the British side too, facing a Zulu warrior up close with a bayonet, when they did manage to close the distance.

Awesome video as usual! Zulu rebellions are usually associated with the musket era (and rightfully so), yet this one took part less than a decade before WW1.

This interesting story is spoiled by some awful visual anachronisms: the red coats worn by some of the Zulus, the weird uniforms worn by the 'British' gunners and... Belgic shakos worn by other gunners. WTF? Sorry, try harder 'cos it does matter, as apparently so few people learn history in school now.
