On the acceleration question: Is the decelerating decrease of v as it approaches 0 not compensated by it being the denominator in the equation for k? I. E. While the denominator decreases less going from 1/1 to 1/(1/10) (denominator decreases by 9/10) compared to going from 1/(1/10) to 1/(1/100) (denominator decreases by 9/100) it still results in the fraction growing by a factor of 10 Not sure if this actually changes any outcomes but it seemed incorrect unless I missunderstand your argument

You're right but you're also right that it doesn't change any outcomes. You can show that if v(t)=1/f(t) for some increasing f(t) then whether or not k accelerates depends entirely on the concavity of f(t). This is what I would have said if I wasn't trying to make this accessible to anyone but this is probably one of those moments when my attempt at popularizing made me say wrong things and confuse myself
